solomonslones:I share your humble opinion. After more than 3 weeks hospitalized and the problem still can't be diagnosed? Something is wrong with that picture. We need to face the fact that hospitals are also businesses and would bleed as much money as they can from patients mainly through unnecessary tests, surgeries and hospitilazations. As long as the bills are being paid I strongly believe Hamed will be a patient....or should I say a resident? I think the team should be proactive and at least threaten to disharge Hamed instead of sitting back in patience. Just saying. 4 Likes |

etomama: thanks for ur input but I don't quite agree with the above. While we give the hospital a benefit of doubt, it's the patients money & strength that will feel the impact. we can't wait to see if there will significant improvement cos it might be too late by then my late uncle was wealthy, he had issues with his kidney but was scared of transplant, he kept going for dialysis(spending close to 100k per week) his condition grew worse until he had no choice to go for the transplant but by then his body had deteriorated & worn out, the surgery was done but he didn't make it he died, I always felt if he had acted on time, he would have been alive!!! 3weeks is enough benefit of doubt, so long as the funds keep flowing in, the hospital will keep him there if u're technically inclined, then u'll know the process of troubleshooting a fault & it's by elimination, but with good equipments u reduce the time u'll spend in guess work & elimination same with medicine 8 Likes |

r231:That is quite an extensive number of tests. The CT-scan, colonoscopy and ultrasound scan should be able to pick out an intra-abdominal mass. The abdominal CT scan(if this is what they did) is actually enough on its own to diagnose an intraabdominal mass and even a liver abscess if it is present. Was a Liver Function Test Done? What about a full blood count? What is his current PCV, WBC and eosinophil count? These are basic tests that would have shown the source of illness if it is an infection or a malignancy that is the problem. Since I haven't seen the actual results i cannot say more, only conjecture at this point. 3 Likes |

Dear r231, Jarus, Babyosisi, Gboliwe, Jaybee3 et al, The peace of God be with you all, amen. Are health workers in Nigeria still on strike? If yes, why don't we get Dj outta here while the sun is still shinning? Even after all these results, I'm sure another doctor would still carry out other tests just to re-confirm his situation? People no longer visit this thread as they used to maybe 'cos they are discouraged.... I know you guys are working tirelessly...God bless u all, however, what must be done must be done... How much do we have left in Dj's purse and how much more will we be needing to fly him to a place where he can get adequate treatment? Your response will be appreciated. Blessings, sunnshyn 4 Likes |

sunnshyn: Your points are very apt but you need to note that flying him abroad is very capital intensive and it is imperative a diagnosis is obtained or at best he be stabilized before he is flown (if that is necessary) The funds raised so far are in the range of 2.5m plus pr minus and flying him abroad will consume that amount The amount for the surgery is still not included Accomodation and post surgery rehab is also not included So any funds raised will STILL be helpful
The team will post more updates on his condition soon the tests were a form of elimination and will still be required by doctors anywhere he is flown This is symptomatic of the nigerian medical sector. |

Re: RIP DJDOLA- We Will Miss You by Gboliwe: 12:54pm On Dec 11, 2014 |
sunnshyn: Firstly I say a big "amen" to the prayer of God's peace on me. I have never needed that peace the way I need it now. So I crave it and say Amen and thank you. Figuring out the amount left is what anybody interested can do. There's the expenses by r231 and the updates by Jarus and jaybee3. Do the plus, multiply and subtraction. Yes health workers are still on strike but since he is on a private plan, it doesn't affect him except the team may want to move him to a public hospital. Sincerely, I have very small chinkinin limited idea on what the tests and their results are and can't say how big or small the results will tell us his state of health, so, asking to be flown out will depend majorly on the interpretation of these results and his response to treatment. |

This is indeed a lesson. A doctor wrote him off and pronounced the case IMPOSSIBLE. Further reports erased the initial condemnation. It wasn't my call to make (like many pointed out), but I'm so glad we didn't give up on him. I'm glad we gave him a chance to live and not waste away. I'm glad people sacrificed time, money and resources. We can never thank you all enough but we don't know what else to say other that a big THANK YOU! God bless! TEHN, is it possible to give each of you a kiss? You guys are the best. Thanks a lot. It's not over yet 10 Likes |
