It is my opinion that he be flown out of the country, I feel the pace of events have slowed down a little bit even the contributions!

I feel he will be given proper & accurate treatment over there because of the equipments they have

it used to be kidney, then it became liver biopsy now his "liver seems to be ok" but colonoscopy & laparoscopy has come in, I just hope new symptoms won't keep popping up & I also hope the doctor isn't using him to learn

The above is my humble opinion & I could be wrong, no offense intended
I share your humble opinion. After more than 3 weeks hospitalized and the problem still can't be diagnosed? Something is wrong with that picture. We need to face the fact that hospitals are also businesses and would bleed as much money as they can from patients mainly through unnecessary tests, surgeries and hospitilazations. As long as the bills are being paid I strongly believe Hamed will be a patient....or should I say a resident? I think the team should be proactive and at least threaten to disharge Hamed instead of sitting back in patience. Just saying.

I will add that we give this hospital the benefit of doubt till all the tests are run and treatment progresses then maybe no significannt improvement before we go back to the original plan.

thanks for ur input but I don't quite agree with the above.

While we give the hospital a benefit of doubt, it's the patients money & strength that will feel the impact. we can't wait to see if there will significant improvement cos it might be too late by then

my late uncle was wealthy, he had issues with his kidney but was scared of transplant, he kept going for dialysis(spending close to 100k per week) his condition grew worse until he had no choice to go for the transplant but by then his body had deteriorated & worn out, the surgery was done but he didn't make it

he died, I always felt if he had acted on time, he would have been alive!!!

3weeks is enough benefit of doubt, so long as the funds keep flowing in, the hospital will keep him there

if u're technically inclined, then u'll know the process of troubleshooting a fault & it's by elimination, but with good equipments u reduce the time u'll spend in guess work & elimination

same with medicine

Dear House,

Once again we thank you for all the support extended to Djdola and your trust in TEHN to help coordinate our approach to getting DJ bck to his feet.

The last few weeks have involved a series of diagnostic tests across various hospitals and laboratories in order to ascertain what exactly is wrong with DJ before deciding on an appropriate method of approach for his full recovery

Please find the list of tests and the dates they were held

Date: Test Type

17/11/ 2014 : Abdominopelvic ultrascan

17/11/ 2014 : Protein electrophoresis

27/11/2014 : Lupus screen

27/11/2014 : Serum astatic Albumin

27/11/2014 : Gradient cholesterol

27/11/2014 : Glucose and amylase

01/12/2014 : CT scan

02/12/2014 : Colonoscopy

02/12/2014 : Ultra scan

The following is a list of observations made by the consultants thus far as a result of various tests listed above

From the first set of tests (abdominipelvic ultra scan and protein electrophoresis) he was diagnosed with stage one renal disease which he has been treated for.

He was also simultaneously treated for a suspected Liver abscess which was supposed to take place for 7days before a biopsy was called for. It was when he was drained and examined in preparation for the biopsy that the clinical diagnosis changed to intra abdominal mass which he had a colonoscopy, CT scan and an ultra scab.

He is currently being prepared for a laparoscopy as at this update.

The challenges so far have been numerous and the pressing among them are as follows:

1. The absence of a teaching hospital due to the protracted strike and its assorted team of specialists which may have helped to arrive at a quick diagnosis

2. A growing suspicion that the hospitals may be embarking on tests just to make revenue

3. There is also the possibility that the hospitals here may not be able to give provide a definitive diagnosis which can/would lead to wastage of valuable time and scarce resources

We need your steer on the way forward on this case

Find attached receipts of tests done so far

TeHN
That is quite an extensive number of tests.

The CT-scan, colonoscopy and ultrasound scan should be able to pick out an intra-abdominal mass. The abdominal CT scan(if this is what they did) is actually enough on its own to diagnose an intraabdominal mass and even a liver abscess if it is present.

Was a Liver Function Test Done? What about a full blood count? What is his current PCV, WBC and eosinophil count? These are basic tests that would have shown the source of illness if it is an infection or a malignancy that is the problem.

Since I haven't seen the actual results i cannot say more, only conjecture at this point.

Dear r231, Jarus, Babyosisi, Gboliwe, Jaybee3 et al,

The peace of God be with you all, amen.

Are health workers in Nigeria still on strike? If yes, why don't we get Dj outta here while the sun is still shinning? Even after all these results, I'm sure another doctor would still carry out other tests just to re-confirm his situation? People no longer visit this thread as they used to maybe 'cos they are discouraged....

I know you guys are working tirelessly...God bless u all, however, what must be done must be done...

How much do we have left in Dj's purse and how much more will we be needing to fly him to a place where he can get adequate treatment?

Your response will be appreciated.

Blessings,

sunnshyn

Sir, I like you to know in God's agenda for your wife, there's nothing like terminal disease. Please, read this Bible portion for her everyday and let her also read it herself and believe it. "Matthew 8:17 Himself took our infirmities, and bare our sicknesses" make her understand that all her diseases were taken away and non was left for her. Let her know God made her in His own image as such, sickness cannot be seen in her as it is not in God because she is carrying God's DNA.
As for your faith, build it up don't allow satan to use that and overpower you. Faith is seeing it the way of God Luke 1:45. Use the word of God as the source of your faith Hebrews 4:2. Remember He healed the woman with an issues of blood Mark 5. To make your faith work. Cultivate it in your heart Mark 11:23. Declare it with your mouth Romans 10:10, 2Corinthians 4:13. Corresponding action James 2:14,18. When you increase your faith, life becomes better. Don't let doctor's reports trap you down. In whose report shall you believe, God's or doctor's report? Please, read those scriptures with her and with understanding and revelation. I would recommend you read " How faith works by David Ibiyeomie" after reading it, you will know your wife is not sick. Sister Nancy, you were healed 2000 years ago by His tripes. Stand up, don't give a listening ear to what the devil is trying to plant in your heart to believe you are sick. You are healed, God cannot fail you, never.
So on point!

Your points are very apt but you need to note that flying him abroad is very capital intensive and it is imperative a diagnosis is obtained or at best he be stabilized before he is flown (if that is necessary)

The funds raised so far are in the range of 2.5m plus pr minus and flying him abroad will consume that amount
The amount for the surgery is still not included
Accomodation and post surgery rehab is also not included

So any funds raised will STILL be helpful

I know you guys are working tirelessly...God bless u all, however, what must be done must be done...

How much do we have left in Dj's purse and how much more will we be needing to fly him to a place where he can get adequate treatment?

The team will post more updates on his condition soon

the tests were a form of elimination and will still be required by doctors anywhere he is flown
This is symptomatic of the nigerian medical sector.

Firstly I say a big "amen" to the prayer of God's peace on me. I have never needed that peace the way I need it now. So I crave it and say Amen and thank you.
Figuring out the amount left is what anybody interested can do. There's the expenses by r231 and the updates by Jarus and jaybee3. Do the plus, multiply and subtraction.
Yes health workers are still on strike but since he is on a private plan, it doesn't affect him except the team may want to move him to a public hospital.
Sincerely, I have very small chinkinin limited idea on what the tests and their results are and can't say how big or small the results will tell us his state of health, so, asking to be flown out will depend majorly on the interpretation of these results and his response to treatment.

This is indeed a lesson.

A doctor wrote him off and pronounced the case IMPOSSIBLE. Further reports erased the initial condemnation.

It wasn't my call to make (like many pointed out), but I'm so glad we didn't give up on him. I'm glad we gave him a chance to live and not waste away. I'm glad people sacrificed time, money and resources.

We can never thank you all enough but we don't know what else to say other that a big THANK YOU!

God bless!

TEHN, is it possible to give each of you a kiss? You guys are the best. Thanks a lot.

It's not over yet cheesy
