Aisha 2 dis is a very nice guesture.
aisha2:
Christmas don reach and for a lot of us this is a challenging period.
Its a time to love and share from the little God has given us.
I spend time here and I see some people here struggling.

I have something small for single mothers who are members of nairaland.

I have N 20,000 and 2 wrappers for a single mother.

I request that the moderator and Moca help me review entries and select a deserving single mother.
I will also beg Madam Chaircover if she has time to help in the selection process.

Requirements :
1. Any single mother is eligible to apply
2. Picture of the single mother pregnant
3. Child's birth certificate or immunisation card
4. Picture of mother and child

Single Mothers willing to apply can click on this link to fill the form and submit. Thhe winner will be announced here https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/FR5F6F9
This closes on 14th December 2014.

Thank you

Update: I received N10,000 from Madamhisponkolo, I raised my own contribution to N30,000, a good brother who wants to remain anonymous even though I will expose him small, he has done so much on the thread and with his family have decided to add N 60,000 total price money now N100,000.
We agreed that N25, 000 be shared among the first four entrants, however we are currently verifying the current entries hence we are temporarily suspending the.submission of entries but we will hopefully resume as soon as that is done.

Thank you wonderful family indeed this is really a family section

The real poor people are all around us in real life and not online!

This is now turning into a NOTICE me gesture on nairaland.

Is Aisha2 saying she doesn't know any single mum in need in her community?

It was babymama now aisha2.

I don't have a problem with giving but I'm beginning to feel this is more like a popularity contest for those with little change on nairaland.

People in need are everywhere, we don't need nairaland to get across to them if indeed we are giving without expectations.

mr man, this a forum and its an advantage for the NL. though we also have ppl we can help in the neighborhood but do u realized dat most ppl like anonymous charity?

what abt DJDOOLA? that took his health problem to NL and was helped financially by nairalanders. so if he wastnt on NL, tell me how ppl will respond to him quickly. just commend the Op and focus on the issue on ground if u have anything to offer. thanks

Person in need asking through the forum is completely different from someone that wants to give and organises a mini competition with judges....

Anonymous givers do not require cheerleaders!

Therein lies the hypocrisy for me. We don't need to know...the people that fits your criteria are right there in your community.

Starting all your response with insults doesn't make you smart either.

Cococandy the judge.

I may not be as active on this site as u but it is quite obvious your online personality here is so important to you.

You may pretend as you like but it is what it is, cheap popularity through nairaland.

Nairaland is not as anonymous as u guys want to pretend it is.

You have refused to address the fact that, this gesture can be done without anyone here knowing about it.

Yes I agree single moms may be educationally challenged but that was old school

Anyone that can post on NL or Facebook should not have an issue

However an idea is to create a survey monkey page and link where people can give reasons and tick what applies to them

Q1..age range
Q2... How many kids
Q3....income range
Q4..employment status
Q5...why do u need this grant

This can be collated and then a choice is made

My thots
while the posting online thingy may be true, you seem to forget that even here on nairaland, there are people who post things and in their posts, have alot of grammatical errors... The essay shouldnt be a requirement... If its that way then it means those who didnt have the opportunity of a sound education are not to take part. It wont be fair.... That would then mean another thing.... DISCRIMINATION.... I suggest s survey of som sort should be taken.

Not that I need to respond to you or defend myself but just for younger ones reading.

I am a social worker which means I work with people who need help to grow their lives. I have worked with single mothers for 8 years and I still work with them.
Even though I am no longer in that department go to area 10 abuja social welfare secretariat and ask of Aisha even with regular staff transfers one or two will still know me because they always send single moms my way.

Also go to the orphanages in Abuja also ask of me. The widows association in Abuja before I lost interest due to some fraudulent practice on their part
I raised capital for most of them to start businesses.
When you are done, go to national hospital social welfare office and asked how much I raise annually for indigent patients

I only posted this because in my spare time i am here so this is also my community. I can not do for those I see and ignore those who i meet online hence I did this this year and I intend to continue God helping.

I learned from a young age that its only through giving we can serve Christ and not giving to pastors but giving ro the least among us because every struggling person you meet represents Jesus Christ.

The blessings And miracles God has performed in my life cannot be from power or might but from prayers of people " God bless you" from a genuine heart goes a long way.

I was once told I won't live passed 25 today am over 30.
I was also given other damaging doctors reports but God has always had the final answer in everything that concerns me to the joy of doctors.
I have never paid tithe in my life all my tithes and gifts go to those in need. I have been working for 10 years now and from 15,000 salary I still found to give and even when I have none I beg my sisters, friends and family to sow into the lives of others.

So brother, God has already noticed me and will keep noticing me, i dont need noticing from any online stranger..My intentions and interest for single mothers has never been fake or based on any eye service

At the bolded it seems a lot of forum members share a belief in helping those around them rather than online people.

The question now should online philanthropy be discontinued.

This sort of thing encourages marriage breakups and set the tone for feminism since this platform will give a voice/encouragement to it.

Op, while I encourage your laudable objective, I am of the opinion that only widows should benefit from the scheme but this just a harmless suggestion since you reserve the right to do your thing your way.

In a way you are not totally right
We are talking of economically challenged women who are trying to make ends meet now

Your premise will have a bearing when and if there is a systematic regional or national welfare system which is targeted at single mother and emasculates fathers or men.

If the fathers of these kids had taken some measure of responsibility when these kids were born, these women will not be where they are.

See this exercise as helping your neighbor

I do not need your resume in charity, not interested.

Do it your way, it is your money.

But it is better if all form of charity/help is done when the giver can not be directly linked to it. Unless u are a business man, corporate organisation or wants to go into politics in the future.

Let me even share one of the greatest testimonies in my life it happened with a nairalander.
Debrief sent me a link of a lady who was pregnant and posted on nairaland she needed help because even at 7 months she hadn't been able to afford her drugs and antenatal visits or even the hospital list for expectant mothers.

Then Debrief was financially down as she and her dad were ill at the same period and had to go abroad.

She forwarded the case to me, I called the lady verified her story but then my former office owed us salary for 5 months, I had 2000 in my account.

I will never forget easter weekend last year it was, I lay on my bed and cried to God asked him to show his hand not for my sake then because thanks to a wonderful family who ensure I never lack through the months without pay.
I told God the lady has to start antenatal and somehow it must happen before the easter holiday is over.

I prayed, cried and slept. I woke up and logged onto Facebook. A lady who was on not to close to on facebook posted on my wall asked that I send my phone number. I sent it to her, she called and said one man had been looking for a way to speak with me for a while that God had been " nagging " him to send me some money but knowing how I was he was afraid I would reject it and call him 419 and a woman chaser as it would be hard to understand his motive. So he saw we were mutual friends and contacted her.
She requested my account number and sent 100k, till today I dont know who that man is. The lady has became a great friend to date.

Immediately i went to atm called the pregnant lady and we went shopping for all the pregnancy list gave her money for antenatal was there even after she put to bed sadly she annoyed me some months ago but in the spirit of Christmas I will go and look for her so we can kiss and make up lol

Why do we buy goods online? Are there no shops around us?
Same way online charity is needed because some people are far from us yet need help.

As for not knowing the donor its a job I studied and practice, I cannot work anonymously.

Anyway no more responses from me like I said its so younger ones can learn. If celebrities can flaunt cars and houses so young people will want to be like them why wont we flaunt charity so more people can get involved more. Bible says if we must compete let us compete in doing good not in vain things

You do realise some conditions are necessary in order to ensure the applicants are as claimed.
Besides, you should never knock someone willing to help especially when nothing is being demanded in return.

Her spirit is leading her to help struggling single parents and if the best and most convenient way of reaching her target audience is NL then there is absolutely nothing wrong with that.
