We might as well ask for the four years budgets to be included in the manifesto! A manifesto is a statement of WHAT a person/party aims to achieve. But it's good questions are being asked. BTW, can we compare with the other party's? |
Sambo’s office gets N463.5m; SGF’s, N6.9bn N131.9 million for fuel, lubricants. State House will spend N6.5 billion repairs/maintenance of buildings, which will gulp N826.6 million purchase of canteen/kitchen equipment, N303.9 million; purchase of medical equipment, N174 million provision of meals, N174.5 million. maintenance of residential office and residential buil-dings in the State House will cost the nation N913.5 million, N131.9 million will be used for fuel and lubricants within the financial year. The Presidency has also set aside N202 million for stationary N223 million for staff uniforms and other clothings. The Office of the Vice President is expected to spend N21.6 million on fuel; N12.7 million on generators; N11.5 on meals/refreshments and N15 million on honorarium within the year. state-house-operations. When you add 826,6 billion Naira they told us is for repair/maintenance of buildings and the 913.5 million Naira they said is for maintenance for residential office and residential buildings, you have a total of 1,740.1 (ONE BILLION SEVEN HUNDRED AND FOURTY MILLION, ONE HUNDRED THOUSAND NAIRA) for the repair of presidential building that they spent billions on last year. Wait a minute, which one be RESIDENTIAL OFFICE AGAIN? In the face of dwindling economy when the nation is indebted to their civil servants for months, the government is still spending some 303.9 million Naira to buy spoons, plates, pots, cattles and knives. Is our Naira to useless that we have to spend 202 milion Naira on stationaries? The presidency will also spend the sum of 223 million Naira for staff uniforms. TOBBY777 is worried about this, how many staffs are in the presidency? What is the cost of one uniform? Out of the 6.5 billion Naira the presidency will be wasting this year, we are told that 5.3 billion Naira of it is for staff salaries. I knwo some states with a very high civil servants rates are paying as much as 4 billion Naira a month. How many staffs do we have in the presidency that is gulping some 5.3 bilion Naira annually as salaries? Too many questions begging for answer. Jonathan online supporters told us to be grateful to him for turning us to a nation of light as there is light in every corner of the country. I honestly think if there is light, giving the nature of our leaders it is supposed to start from them, but the office of the vice president will be spending some 12.7 milion Naira on GENERATOR in 2015. A nation with light does not need generator. This is another budget of slavery which will not take the Nigeria people any where. Oil price has fallen to 58 dollars as at yesterday and there are fears that the price might fall below. It is a national embarrassment that in the midst of harsh economic reality on ground those who styled themselves leaders are still wallowing in their wastefulness. Nigerians needs to take their destinies in their hand. Nigerians needs to make use of this GOD givern opportunity again by making their votes counts. THE DECISION WE TAKE TODAY WILL LIBERATE OR IMPRISON US TOMORROW.
Osinbajo's office ll equally get dt same #463.5m under APC should dey won.All these things u itemized can't stop like dt coz of d greedy lawmakers dt OBJ breed 1 Like |

Very interesting observation from the Manifesto. It does not matter what party you affiliate yourself with, the fact is politicians always make promises they are unable to keep. I feel sorry for those that have been bought over by Buhari,s promises without a second thought. The most important observation made here is the fact that Buhari plans to spend money on social programs but very vague or clueless on where the money will come from. You either promote capitalism by creating policies that will enhance and facilitate growth through private enterprise or follow the path of social welfarism and pursue policies that will only benefit the poorest of the society in a futile attempt to close inequality gap. In my opinion, the only social programs worth pursuing in a society like Nigeria are education and health. Nigerians are smart and hard working, therefore more than capable of achieving a without assistance of the government as long as the government provides other variables required. 3 Likes |

buhari must also tell us if he will summon state governors every time a fulani mans cow is killed as he did in oyo state. Also he will tell us how many infidels an islamist and herdsman is allowed to kill before it is deemed a crime punishable by law, as the death of infidels by the hands of his kinsmen of whom he is the president general (miyati allah. fulani community) does not ruffle him one bit.

Obiagelli: Okay Obiagelli, let's consider this part of the article. I also observed that Buhari seems to assume an unlimited supply of finances and he is not shy to spend. For instance, under “Economy”, he says he will “create a Social Welfare Programme of at least Five Thousand Naira (N5,000) that will cater to the 25 million poorest and most vulnerable citizens upon the demonstration of children’s enrolment in school and evidence of immunisation to help promote family stability. (And) Provide allowances to the discharged but unemployed Youth Corps members for Twelve (12) months while in the skills and entrepreneurial development programmes.” This is obviously an attempt at creating a Conditional Cash Transfer (CCT) scheme in Nigeria - more or less our own version of "Bolsa Familia". Now this is commendable, but let's look at the numbers involved. He says he will pay 25 million people a sum of N5,000 (let's assume monthly even though that is not explicitly stated). This amounts to N125 billion every month and N1.5 trillion per annum. Are you saying that we shouldn't ask where Buhari will find N1.5 trillion on an annual basis to fund such a programme? I firmly believe that manifestos should outline HOW policy initiatives would be achieved. Why should I vote for Buhari if I cannot understand how he execute the promises made? After all GEJ also made all sorts of promises in 2011 without a clear blueprint, are we expected to repeat the mistakes made then? GMB should go back and do his homework. His manifesto is unconvincing. 8 Likes |

APC making promises on social programs and want which primarly would be funded by money gotten from the SS and u want to kick their man out of office. Coming from a yourba man. How does buhari plans to find alternative income for nigeria. How does he plan to stabilize oil prices. I see nigeria splitting up. If a buhari becomes president. Imagine with these low oil price the boys gets back to the creek. Even lai mohammed said to slove the problem of insurgency you must attack it from the grass root. That's why jonathan has not been able to make a head way. The northerners have not given him the chance. Same would happen if a buhari is president. Anybody mingling with a northerner would be seen as an outcast. Yardua succeded because jonathan was their own and there was money to spend. Now no money how to spend how would you appease the boys. Imagine the oil blocks been sold and the owners are now northerners and yorubas. These APC cohorts are deciving demslves. If the north is smart they shold wait for jonathan to finish his term. The nigeria two party system is not split into ideologies, but rteligous and ethich sentiments. Anyhow u look at it its a time bomb. I for one prefer nigeria splits than a buhari to be larded ova me. As soyinka puts it the buhari leadership was carried out as if the people of nigeria has no volition of their own. I can only judge buhari by his past because he has not shown me his future and dat past was dark. And dat includes his recent past. 3 Likes 1 Share |

Eziachi: Apparently some people find it hard to understand that a candidate for primaries can have his manifesto, but it can never be superior to the manifesto of the party. Since Buhari won the primaries, his manifesto has been replaced by that of his party APC. The APC manifesto was produced after tough discussions involving leaders from all parts of the country, and it may have similarities with Buhari manifesto, but the party is supreme in this matter. Has the writer even seen the APC manifesto? Lazy lazy lazy journalism |

barcanista:That is the writers sentiment. The feasibility of the bogus claims in the manifesto considering the reality on ground as regard the totality of the nation's wealth. This is not 1986, not even 2011. We are monoeconomic nation with limited income. So the big question still remains how buhari intends to achieve these lofty ideas with this limited resources. Because calculation shows that 5000 naira times 25 million people amount to 125 billion naira for the unemployed and less privilege for just one year.. Now we ve not talk about the finance for the trainings of these unemployed youth were promised to undergo. We really have to learn how to ask question from our politicians. The kind of promises these guys make is an insult to our intelligence. 5 Likes 1 Share |

I don't know when we will stop being sentimental and be realistic in our comments. We all know the problem of this country which I surely believe every individual is wishing a better Nigeria for all of us. Let's be sincere is Nigeria not among the richest country in the world? Still 75% of her citizen are suffering atleast if government can level some distance between the rich and the poor then what's N5,000 that government can't afford to 60% of its citizen in a month! Let's vote in Buhari and see the next step I believe in him |

SW youths This below is what you guys need and not VP position 1) Resource Control 2) Fiscal Federalism 3) Privatization 4) Political Federalism 5) Decentralization of Nigeria 6) Restructuring of Nigeria 6) Institutions giving detail account of their financial/other activities to the public through their websites/panels for public scrutiny every 3months. Which are the fastest route to I) economic diversification, ii) citizenry prosperity iii) political stability iv) reduce corruption These 7 points are the basis of True Federalism which can help Nigeria become a Super Power and a first world Nation. Which SW youths, dem like the system, dem love corruption so dem settle for anything as long as the money dey come illegally. |

Very well said. Optimism is good but realism is better. Nigeria is the way it is because of Nigerians and like he said they have not been taken along in that manifesto. Ultimately they will decide whether Nigeria changes not necessarily Buhari. If they have suffered enough to engage one another and leadership to change Nigeria, fine but my take is that Buhari will have to drag Nigerians kicking and screaming to the promised land....and knowing us....we will not go. 1 Like |

I thought one has to find out where a car or bus is heading to before they board it. And one can only do that by asking the driver in other to make an informed decision to check whether they are heading in the right direction. Abimbola is us asking the driver the direction. 1 Like |
