Arriving Houston, I was wheeled past the long scary queue of people to the "disabled" queue. I asked the guy that wheeled me to go. I was concerned about giving a bad impression about my state of health. It took roughly 20 minutes of standing. Got to my turn. CBP 1: What I came to do: Me: Medical care, child birth CBP 1: Where I live and where my husband was: Me: Lagos CBP 1: How much do I have: Me: $7k plus I have more in my bank account here (I had to do some more exchange to increase the $4k I had) CBP 1: Why I have a bank account here: Me: Used to live in Houston CBP 1: Why I want to deliver in the USA: Me: Had a good expereince with my first child CBP 1: How far gone I was: Me: 34 weeks CBP 1: They allowed you to fly at 34 weeks?: Me: Yes. The limit is 36 weeks CBP 1: You know the drill, we do not want you to be a burden to us. We want to make sure you can pay your medical bills. We want to see how much you have. Me: Ok. I intend to pay all my bills. So you would want to check my bank accounts? CBP 1: Yes. Off we went to secondary inspection. Was really tired but I was calm, drinking my water and of course praying because with these people, you can never tell. I was eventually called up. CBP2: Why are you here: Me: Medical care, child birth CBP2: How far gone are you? Me: 34 weeks (He gave my tummy a good stare) CBP2: When was the last time you saw your doctor? Me: Have not seen him yet. But was communicating by email CBP2: Have you made any payments to the doctor? Me: Yes, $150. CBP2: Only? Me: Yes. I intend to pay fully at my first appointment. CBP2: Which hospital do you intend to give birth Me: WHMC CBP2: How much is your Hospital bill? Me: Told him ($10k +) CBP2: How much do you have? Me: 7k plus some savings in my Capital One account CBP2: Where do you work? Me: Bla bla bla Then he give me the lecture about not recieving any medical aid and to make sure I pay all my bills and have all my recipts the next time I am entering the USA. And that was it. They did not ask to see the money or any documents. It was a breeze and I thank God! Wishing you mummys the best o. Just be honest and straight with your stories/answers without lying. They usually have your history. 16 Likes |

Where in my statement did I discredit either place? Or u didn't go to school? I don't have any social support in either State hence my saying I don't know what the hell I was thinking. Tvegas: Am happy someone else shares my view about dr Fagbohun, I think I will have to tell him my mind. The truth is he doesn't spend enuff time with his patience, the dr I used in NY for my first baby had lots of pple too like dr Fagbohun but he spends sufficient time with each person . I still don't feel any patient - dr connection with dr Fagbohun after like 6 appointment. Plan to tell him this on my next visit. Am kind of disappointed cos pple have said lots of nice stuff about him. |

@tvegas congrats on your baby Slight correction he is medical director for women"s health not oakbend You are about on about the induction. I refused to have one as I wanted to know when my baby will come naturally and I dint want a failed induction leading to CS. It's actually for their own convenience and a bit of selfishness too, cuz if you fall into labor on a day that's not his day (which was Monday then), he will have to pay the assistant who takes the delivery. As per dr/ patient relationship, well, he wasn't bad o, or maybe I dint have much expectations or care anyways. I had an un eventful pregnancy, so i dint expect to spend more than 10 mins per ante natal sessions, even in Lagos. But the delivery process was wonderful, it was one of the female doctors that works with him that was on call when I fell into labor. Oakbend nurses too were on point I enjoyed the entire experience and will most likely use him / oakbend for my next baby 3 Likes |

I strongly think. you should apply to abuja because abuja consulate are more professional than lagos. This guys in abuja will go tru your statement of account and other documents and if possible call the hospital you gave appointment with if you claim to. I wish you Godss favor !! |

Can't remember exactly.... Check my old posts.... I gave a detailed breakdown of the costs. I know the hospital was 2,150 and epidural was 850. Thats all I can remember |

somchisom:Every hospital/doctor is different, some would accept some/all your test from Nigeria , others won't accept any test done by even a laboratory in the states that they ain't affiliate with. Try and contact them to get a list of test they would accept so you don't have to waste money here, only to be told to do the test again in US. |
