He should run for office. Or start engineering something.
Can't say if he has politics on his mind...at least at this stage. He has an engineering firm and is contributing to his immediate community the way he can. There are many others like him in this country but they refuse to get into politics because of previous experiences or what they see which brings up the apathy talk again.

No An0nimus that is the truth. We have more foolish people than poor people. It is debatable.

And that is what I am talking about. We get a reflection of what the majority really are. That is what happens. We can never get a good person until the majority come to understand the depth of harm they have done themselves and the minority and come to desist from it.

The true apostle of positive change need to try his best to work with the masses he intends to lead but they on their part have to make up their mind on what they really want. Anything short of this futile. The average roadside blackm marketer who deals in fuel will always wish their is constant blackout of power. Besides convincing this person he first has to resolve to do the right thing. Except you are willing to get a job that pays more. Humans often allow self-interest to destroy them.
Lol you're still hung on the 'foolish'. Personally I'm not too comfortable describing anyone or a group of people that way but I get what you mean. On your debate with Ihedinobi, Nigeria does not have up to 50 million people living below a $1 daily. There are poor people yes, but as long as they're doing something no matter how small they should be able to see 200 naira a day. Those who can't are not up to 50 million.

Exactly as I expected. smiley

I'm averse to politicking. I prefer staying out of the spotlight. But I'd do exactly what he's doing, maybe even better if possible.

I might also "engineer something". wink

When you divide 20 000 by 30, what do you get? That's all some graduates earn a month. I'm not attaching a number to the people who do. Because there's too much I don't know. How do you people come up with your figures?

Edit: And people take jobs that pay like that to avoid earning nothing at all.

I think you two may be right though.

It is impossible. Do you know how useless the law is when it comes to protecting business assets?

One must be rugged and dominating to make it the the top in Nigeria. A mouse can never be the King of the jungle, it is for the heart if a lion.
Being a honest businessman does not necessarily mean you'll be timid and weak. You even have more boldness to state whatever claims you have when your hands are clean. I repeat it's possible. Are you saying there are no honest rich people in Nigeria?

People earn lesser trust me. Dividing 10 000 by 30 gives 333 naira per day which is still above a dollar. The people that came up with that statistic (I forget who now) don't like Nigeria.

None. The system is corrupt. How can someone in the system not be corrupt?

Dunno really. Don't like calling someone stupid either. The 'stupid' has history from when I was little. Then the word 'goat', I feel it hurts deeply when anyone is called such.

Re: The Christian Chatbox ( sticky) by kaboninc(m): 12:51pm On Jan 21, 2015
There's no businessman who knows his salt will admit that he is making profit even when it is so glaring he is. You find it very easy for businessmen to tell you about ALL his challenges and how they are stopping him from making ALL the money.

On the doubt about beggars, come to the Island or major parks and see for yourselves how these lads make money. Personally, being poor is relative. I can be poor materially but what if I do have the resources to be rich materially? Am I still poor? Some may say oh the environment is not conducive and very toxic. But people are surviving. Take for instance the Capital Market, investors and players are making huge money. And to say the truth, the present Government is really encouraging business growth, creating enabling environments and empowering these SMEs financially and technically. I would want them to do more especially in the area of TAX. But thumbs up to them.

Materially, we may be poor. Remedying it, we need to be educated. It brings out the creativity in you and the sky becomes your starting point. That should form the focus of our decision as a 'poor' nation. Be it taught in Arabic, Latin, English, French, most importantly is to be intellectually equipped.

If statistics were to be taken on a state by state basis, the north will rank very high in 'poverty'. But cumulatively, that makes the country a sorry state. If the exposed, informed and learned individuals can be determined to liberate their communities from ignorance and illiteracy, the North will be something else today. Down here in the South, the best legacy a parent can bequeath to his kids is EDUCATION. For the North, I don't know.

Take the population of Niger Delta, estimate the value of their natural resources and measure the per capital income. Same as New Guinea. Do you even know that the youths in the East are not inclined to Education? That they see it as a waste of time? Even those enrolled in Universities?
Re: The Christian Chatbox ( sticky) by Nobody: 1:02pm On Jan 21, 2015
ihedinobi2:

You just drew some false relationships, Rey. Think about it. If food is dirt cheap there, how poor can anyone there be compared to the South where the very thought of a real meal can be depressing to quite a few people? And if you can afford good food and decent clothing and housing, on what basis are you called poor? Again, consider the relationship between nourishment and productivity. If you eat poorly, will you have the health to think proactively and work productively? If you cannot do the latter, can you grow any richer? If you cannot make progress economically, is it possible to remain stagnant?

Then again, the rich can thrive in even the most adverse environment, you say. It's not about what you're given but about what you have? What do you have when you're given nothing? How do the rich get rich? I'm saying that the South is where you'll see poverty in sharp relief. I'm not denying that there's poverty in the North. I've never been to the North but I know that there are poor people there. Sometimes they are poor because the practice of their religion encourages certain economically retrogressive attitudes. Sometimes it is because of that severe divorce between worlds - the world of the rich and the world of the poor - that results in a poor distribution of wealth.

In the South though, the environment is hostile to economic progress. That is my point. The South is apt to make people poor. Try and run a business down South and tell me that this is a lie. The high cost of providing the things for yourself that you yourself just admitted that the government provides will tell you why people are paid poorly and everyone is trying to cut corners to make a decent pay.

What social amenities are at the lowest there? How do you get water in the North? How is your access to the Internet? And power? How much electricity exactly do you see there?

Why did you cap it at 50 million? There are 170 million of us.
You see, the difference both of us is that you have been to only the south but I have been to both. I spent about 9years in the south so I think I will a little edge in assessing both.

I agree with you that the south is apt to make people poor. From experience, that is true. But this has not in reality made the south poorer. It challenges them to be better. It is easier to identify a very rich man in the north because the wealthy are not many. But in the south, you have to stupendously rich for anyone to recognize you.

The way you rate this food thing one begin to wonder why the health of these Northerners are the worst in the country. If food are in such qauntity and also defines the health why do we have more health anomalies in the north? Isn't that contradicting. I will tell you why. It is simply because they are too poor to afford even these cheap foods. If you see the kitchen Northerner, I mean the indigines, you will have nothing but pity for them.

Health care centers are around and depends on area. In a place like borno, bauchi, kebbi, etc., their is nothing to compare with the south. But they still prefer local medicine because they are poor and some don't trust the hospitals.

To get water, I have to draw from a well or if I am rich enough I buy water from the borehole. My access to the internet is the same with what I get in Owerri.

Power is the same like in every part of the country. Two days on, a day off. Not constant.
But like I wrote above these things only determine the wealth of a government.

I think it is supposed to be 70 according to the UN but I don't want to quote the wrong number.

Each time I see these physically challenged guys on the street, I get very bitter in my heart that if I had or have the opportunity of meeting those who lead them, I will send them to HELL!

Do you know that these illnesses are easily preventable? Even with a Primary Health Care center in place, in every community? We may say funding constraints but one who is determined....

Even though we believe GEJ has failed us, he did offer something which I strongly believe Buhari will not be able to offer

Looking at it from another perspective, tbh with you politics in the country is about "where favours me".And this is what we are seeing everyday , isn't the same set of people jumping from one party to the other? What are they looking for?
The truth is, if Bode George decides to decamp to APC today, he will be welcomed, with big celebration kwa....was Ali Sheriff not part of the then ANPP,what about our honourable Minister of Education?..
So if Bode is now in APC, i can as well say a vote for Buhari is a vote for Bode George...right?
If Buhari has the opportunity to contest under the platform of PDP, wouldn't he?
Is not even about religion or tribe here , people know what they will gain when a particular person is in power.
Ok, i will pick some of our statements and after that we would all see that Buhari is not the one grin
Musketto said and I quote... "is Buhari a better choice? What does Buhari have to offer? Honestly, I can't say".... ehen We should vote for someone who we don't know what he has to offer? Ok, I hear

Ihe called Buhari a risk? Is not there a saying that a known devil is better than an unknown angel.

@Anonimus, "Goodluck has ruled 6 years and results so far are below expectations why not try someone else another 4 years?"...4 years is too much to try someone AllNaijaBlogger has already described as an Illiterate. Honestly smh for the person who describes someone as illiterate and yet believes he is the messiah Nigeria needs. Present a more reliable candidate, we would be glad to do the trying.
Rey said Jona is dumb and he called Buhari dumber( although, personally I believe this is harsh and uncivilized to say). But going by that, we all know the better option between dumb and dumber

FrancisTony said and I quote, "Is Buhari and Jonathan the only aspirants vying for the presidential seat? Isn't it high time we started seeing beyond PDP and APC gibberish."
A very sensible post IMO, but do other aspirants, if at all they are better than the two major, have any chance of making it even if the whole of NL vote for them.....
So whether we like it or not, either Buhari or Jona most likely will be...Obviously, we are left to make a choice between one of the two options as far as 2015 presidential election is concern
Present me the two and I will choose GEJ cool
Buhari is a NO NO for me..

Lol dagr8 4 years is too much to try an unknown but perfect to continue with one that has not delivered as expected. It's like sticking to the woman you buy foodstuff from because you've known her for long even when occasionally she sells you spoilt fish or sells at a higher price.

It's a personal dislike for the terms, not like they must not be used. Most times they are used in a derogatory manner than to describe the true state of things.
