musiwa97:what are you talking about treaty? The Nigeria constitution allows any Nigerian irrespective of tribe to contest election in any state as long as he reside in the state and pay his taxes. It good for the aspirant to learn the language of the locals so he can communicate easily with them 1 Like |

Missy89: Good. So leave it at that, whomever has greater numerical strength should govern Lagos. That's democracy unless you don't believe in it. For now it is Yoruba. 1 Like |

The question is, if he is asked his decent, mother tongue and traditions would he claim that of the Yorubas ? I think using the case of Obama to justify this is absolutely illogical , because these are two different realms on extremes ends. This shows the electoral laws are so much flawed |

Igbo investors should take note, Lagos can not allow a citizen of Lagos to contest for election in Lagos state because of language but will not protest money from outside Lagos to be invested in Lagos 1 Like |

The status of lagos needs redefinition .is lagos no longer the commercial capital of Nigeria is it now the commercial capital of yoruba, with companies owned by non indigenes paying 99% of the taxes. Do people really realise that lagos once had northerners as the minister of lagos affairs in a purely democratic set up. The bulk of money lagos makes and spends is generated by non yoruba speakers and non indigenes. The survival of lagos as a commercial city is dependent 70% on igbo entrepreneurs. The igbos who aren't interested in learning yoruba language are responsible for the 90% commercial activities in lagos. The igbos more than any other group will determine the future of lagos 3 Likes |

Igbo lost it themselve, did you know how many igbo are working is Lagos State Government?, did you know how many igbo are in high rank position in lagos state government?, the number is countless, yet this people tag yoruba a tribalist and call yoruba all sort of name during "Deportee Saga" Igbo group & Elder are the first tribe to publicly ridicule another tribe "yoruba" calling them sort of names and cursing them, Igbo elder and group will spent million on newspaper and other media to attack and mock the yoruba, and yet they want to climb the higheest position in Lagos state in order to actualize their claim that they rule over the yoruba, that yoruba are nothing without them. And one expect yoruba people to abide by their wish all in the name of one nigeria. I love igbo people very much before wish we yoruba considered them as our brother, since they display their hated for yoruba publicly, I begin study them and found how that most of them hate yoruba so much and derive joy in ridicule yoruba and claim they rule them in their land, I can shed my blood to stop igbo ruling in any yoruba land because i know the motive behind it, not love but to ridicule solutionist: 1 Like |

kettykin:these are the real reason why ibos will not be allowed to rule lagos state, you people will wake up and cook up figures without fact,Ph is once a federal capital territory, with oil and good land scape one will hope it will be as big as lagos,do u know why lagos is big Today? I bet u don't know, the reason why lagos is big today is the host who are knowledgeable and wise when its comes to development knows that migration is essential because different ideology brain and man power is needed to turn a state around that's why they allow enabling environment for people to do as they like, the same cannot be said for other region such as the East and north because for you to set up a business in those area u will face lot of challenges, and again lagos is the smallest in all the state with more than 45percent hydrosphere, the state is made before amalgamated of north and south in 1914,when a yoruba man becomes the commissioner of finance in anywhere in the east come back here and vie for any position you want 2 Likes |

Lagos Federal Capital Territory is different from Lagos State. Lagos State was created in 1967 .Prior to that Places like Ikeja Mushin Badagry etc were in the Western Region The Federal Capital Territory was Ikoyi Victoria Island and some parts of Mainland u to WAEC and Surulere. Ikeja industrial district was part of the Western Region and was developed by Awolowo. People need to learn and realise that Lagos State was not the Capital of Nigeria rather Lagos City or what was previously known s Lagos Municipality was te Federal Capital Area. Regarding the issue of eh developed Lagos ,people are entitled o their opinions but must remember a few facts . Lagos was significantly developed in the 1890s by which time there were telephone lines and street lights as well as a thriving port. Lagos is what it is because it has the best point of entry and exit for ocean goin vessels along our more than 800Km coastline which is on the same latitude as Lome,Cotonou and Accra .Thereafter the coastline turns and moves southward sharply transiting into swamp and Mangrove or inland waterways(Calabar). Since that time Lagos has been and remains the cheapest and best point of sea access to Nigeria. That is the source of its advantage not the Federal Capital. Lago never attracted the kind of investment Abuja did and more importantly the PORT OF LAGOS PAYS FOR LAGOS . Lagos is an asset not a liability. Abuja will not be a contributor to the Federation account. Those who say Lagos was developed with oil should read its history. Lagos in 1900 was very much ahead of Onitsha today http://libsysdigi.library.illinois.edu/ilharvest/Africana/Books2011-05/3064634/3064634_1898_lagos/3064634_1898_lagos_opt.pdf http://libsysdigi.library.illinois.edu/ilharvest/Africana/Books2011-05/3064634/3064634_1904_lagos/3064634_1904_lagos_opt.pdf 3 Likes 1 Share |

Igbo are very corrupt and aggressive just like south sudan people Even if they give them an independent today i dont think most of them will live to witness the development and the sharing of wealth They are power hungry people and i dont think they can rule lagos, Yoruba are very intelligent and silent poison I'd prefer Hausa 1 Like |
