I personally think that football has a long way to go. You go to rugby games and there is NO away end. Everyone sits together and cheers their teams without fear of having his head broken, and there is terracing for those who want to stand. They don't stop selling beer at half-time, and there is no police escort with horses herding fans to the train before and after the game....the exact opposite of the Matchday experience in football.

Something about English football fans justs makes them go mental. Always constituting a nuisance anywhere they go.

What I was told was that the Train(the carriage he tried to hop on) was packed. How true that is I don't know. What I do know however is that they should not have made up those chants. Lastly, What you said about Rugby in particular is very true. As the saying goes "Rugby is a game for Hooligans played by gentlemen whilst football is a game for gentlemen played by Hooligans" . Guess that applies to the fans too. Also with regards to the nuisance behaviour English Footy fans are known for, I think the FA has done a splendid job in tackling it head on. If you compare the attitudes of fans say for example in the mid 90s to now, you'll see the huge strides that have been made. The Den for example is much safer than it was 10-15 years ago.

there's a reason those fixtures are doctored to have one team in the same vicinity playing away and one playing at home every weekend. if fulham are home, chelsea would be away.

when city are home, united are away. same as liverpool/everton & arsënal/spurs - it's because of the high level of human resources required to keep the peace. you need to watch some of danny dyer's football factory DVDs and see the level of violence involved outside the football grounds.

if the victims don't file any report, what can the media do? it has to be reported to the police before the media can latch on to it - and all these guys are into gangs. nearly all of them have been banned from football grounds. they are not interested in the results, they just want to hang around the stadium & glass the rival group.
