We are talking of what make Lagos thick and your talking about SW, what do you mean by opening up, offering free food or free what and for people to start coming, when Obasanjo was busy killing Igbo businesses to make sure they didn't thrive who was to be blamed, you closed Savannah Bank, closed Ibeto Cement and gave Dangote monopoly, seized and auctioned Innosson's 25 40ft containers and your telling me opening up, the more we open up the more enemies encircle to frustrate our efforts. East have always been open to businesses since when the Pope was an alterboy but successive FG with their tribal and ethnic agenda won't allow East to thrive. We know those with our interest at their hearts and those that have it on their mouths. gnykelly: 5 Likes |

gnykelly: My brother you just made an important point that I wish some xenophobic Yorubas will understand. Population is very important. The reason that most investors coming to Nigeria invest in Lagos is not just because of infrastructure (Actually abuja has better infrastructure). Its also about population. If all immigrant left Lagos tomorrow because of tribalism, the population will reduce including its economic activity. Please dont take this as bragging but you see what happens in lagos during christmas period when people leave the city in large numbers. |

Its you Nigerians that are scared of Igboland for reasons best know to you, there are many Ghananians in Onicha, even Aba have the largest Ghana community in Nigeria and they are living freely, I don't know what you guys want from us again, we come to your land, pay taxes and buy land to build houses and your telling me East is not open to immigrants, must we share par boiled rice so that you all will start coming? gnykelly: 6 Likes |

BuddahMonk: Nice thread, you have made good points, some forces have frustrated Tinapa in calabar. But the guy made also made a point, seaport is the only medium that has helped in importation of goods and machineries. Igbo are generally into business that involves importation, if the seaport in akwa ibom comes on board you will see the impact in south East, companies will open offices in the region if not relocating totally. Industries will spring up, to cut the cost of transporting heavy equipment and finished goods. |

BuddahMonk: Bros calm down, if APC won't frustrated seaport in Akwa Ibom, Lagosians will see the shocker of their lives. In Medina Estate where I live, 2/3 of the people here are igbo's. If you know someone on Victoria Island, let them check the statistics for you, from Ikoyi to Lekki, what percentage of Igbos live in those areas … They have pushed for and gotten approval to build a new seaport in Lekki. Lets hope GEJ wins elections, he will help Akwa Ibom build her own seaport, by 2020 you will see what the south East Will look like. 3 Likes |

ideology: Why do Igbos have a kind of thinking that seems not to understand politics. The reality is that only an Igbo President can implement what you are hoping Jonathan can do in next four years which he could not do in the past 5 years. The Ibaka port has been a fraud. A lot of people believed it to be real earlier. Work towards achieving true federalism, producing a President or outright independence. Jonathan's allegiance is with Ijaws and Fulanis. Not Igbos or even Ibibio, Urhobo etc. He is even canvassing for Yoruba support. You all are irrelevant in this admin. |

http://www.nigerianports.org/news.aspx?id=251 http://www.nigerianports.org/news.aspx?id=251 Akwa Ibom begins construction of Ibaka seaport By: BOLDWIN ANUGWARA September 19, 2013 in Maritime 0 Comments Share with your friends.... BAYO AKOMOLAFE The Akwa Ibom Government is to embark on the construction of Ibaka Deep Seaport in partnership with the Federal Government. Its Governor, Godswill Akpabio dropped the hint at a gala night organised in honour of the visiting U.S. Consul-General in Nigeria, Mr Jeffrey Hawkins. The U.S. consul-general was accompanied by the Minister of State for Trade and Investment, Mr Samuel Ortom. Akpabio explained that the seaport project was a major industrial concern for Akwa Ibom. The governor stressed the need for continuous partnership between Nigeria and the U.S. in the promotion of trade and investments. The Ibaka Deep Seaport is a component of the envisaged Ibom Industrial City. Its ground-breaking ceremony took place in 2009 at Mbo Local Government Area of the state. The Ibom Industrial City is also expected to host oil and gas activities with refineries, petrochemical and fertiliser plants, coupled with manufacturing, packaging, bulk-breaking and small equipment factories. Akpabio had noted that the 129 kilometres stretch of land at the Ibaka Port area would be a self-sustaining industrial city. The governor declared: “With Ibaka deep seaport, we will have a seaport that will not require perennial dredging. Investors will be in business |

As the optimistic were expecting to start importing through Ibaka in 2015, they got a shocker by December 2014 http://www.vanguardngr.com/2014/12/ibaka-deep-sea-port-relocated-new-site/ Godfrey Bivbere & Olaitan Ayoola THE proposed Ibaka deep sea port, Akwa Ibom, has been relocated to Ibeno Local Government Area, while the name has been changed to Ibom from Ibaka. FPSO Vessel Vanguard gathered that the project analysis done by a foreign consultant and Transaction Advisers, FELAC Concept and Marine and Transport Business Solutions, MTBS, of Netherlands, showed that the port project would not be commercially viable if sited at Ibaka due to its long distance from the sea.. A source close to the Ministerial Steering and Delivery Committee for the port who spoke to Vanguard, explained that the project had to be moved initially to Okposo. The source further noted that the same problem of distance from the sea as well as the dense population, made it non-viable. The source said that the soil analysis on Okposo showed that the earth there is marshy which would further drive up the cost of construction should it be sited there. The source pointed out that the project had to be moved again to the third site at Ibeno Local Government Area and the name had to be changed from Ibaka to Ibom, like all other projects of the state to give it a state colouration. The distance from the new site to the sea is about 20 nautical kilometres and also it is closer to the connecting expressway for quick evacuation of consignments from the port at completion, the source disclosed. The source also said that the area is less populated, making compensation for displaced persons easy, as well as making the new site for the project commercially viable. The transport ministry source said that one of the major challenges faced by the committee at the new site was the presence of under-ground oil pipelines. The source explained that the Committee held several meetings with the Department of Petroleum Resources, DPR, National Petroleum Investment Management Services, NAPIMS, and the various oil companies on how to work around the pipelines. The oil companies agreed to relocate some of the pipelines that were no longer active away from the area to aid quick construction of the port. The source explained that construction work on the project is expected to commence sometime next year on a Public, Private Partnership. It added that a few little details left on the part of government would soon be taken care of for construction work to commence. On financing, the source disclosed that the private sector is expected to have 60 percent while the Federal and state governments are expected to hold 20 percent each. According to the source, “No government can fund a port project but it can only be achieved through a Public/Private sector partnership.” Foreign concerns are already making inquires on what is required to partake in the financing of the project. |

It is same with every project like the 2nd Niger bridge and the dredging of the Niger. You can only help yourself Ndigbo and that is by the 3 options I listed. 1 True federalism 2 Supporting Igbo Presidency 3 Pushing for complete independence. Out of the 3, number 1 the most achievable. |

@Abagworo, It seems you have nothing positive to contribute on this pan Igbo thread than your usual antagonism. Leave Akpabio and Amaechi supremacy out of this thread. There is nothing effective lobbing can't do when it is directed to someone/party that shares your vision and has soft-spot for your ideologies and predicaments. 3 Likes |

Abagworo: Ibaka seaport is not a fraud, am Very must on ground, a lot of forces politically does not want the project to see the light of the day If APC wins that project will be blocked, if PDP wins bet me by 2020, ships will harbour on the coast, tribalism is killing this country. Nigeria is a forced marriage - Odumegu was right, Congo, sudan, Korea, many others have splited to form their own countries after many years of wars. This elections is our opportunity to split just that, there are a lot of foreign interest in Nigeria. Let Nigeria split, if not generations unborn will fight one day if we don't fight this 2015. The North will still be carrying, "born to rule" mentality The West always acts as "middle-men and peace makers" sabotaging everything, OBJ has finished playing the role of a king-maker, Tinubu is pushing for the throne. The East always divided, some will be entised by Westerners with some contracts and political appointments The south always vitimized, but their eyes don clear |
Re: Increasing Livability In Eastern States by ideology(m): 1:47am On Feb 24, 2015 |
Abagworo: I want number 3, am tired of BH News calming Nigeria should be Islamized. Let's manage our resources and see how much we will be able to achieve in 20 years to come. Ibaka seaport, I insist is not fraud, a port is not a plot of land, it spreads across the coast cutting across about 4 local government area. Investors came and suggested that the main construction site is marshy, cost of setting up structures will be high, that It should be shifted to the coast the has less rheyologic properties. Thats what the press picked up and misinformed the public. 2015 Was just a hyped date, it was not realitic, there are a lot of procedures and approval stages. Besides the state government had lots of projects at hand. |

Ibaka seaport must be built anything less is an official declaration of economic civil war on the eastern region. Any leader whether APC or PDP that tries to frustrate that project will be in more trouble than they bargained for. This is the most natural seaport that requires no dredging like ports in lagos. It can contain the biggest container ships in the world comfortably. If tribalism frustrate this project, then i will know that nigeria is officiallly the most backward nation on the planet. |

Am not a Jonathan supporter but your hatred for the guy is blinding you seriously, under whose tenure was AIIA made an international airport, how about elevation of Sam Mbakwe airport. The reason while am not supporting Jonathan is just for only two things and they are SNB and Immigration tragedy. These are the two places Jonathan failed me as leader, but compare and contrast Jonathan with past leaders he is miles ahead of them. Abagworo: |

Ngwakwe: There is no Amaechi and Akpabio here but reality. Do you think even Rivers people will support dredging of Niger? I am real and offer real contribution. Do you think that the forces that stopped Ibaka all these years will suddenly cease to exist? Why are Onne and Calabar ports still under utilised despite having a President from South-south? What lead to the dearth of some expensive visionary investments like Tinapa? Summary of what I believe is that we need sincere headcount to know our population distribution and plan based on that. 2ndly we need freedom to grow at our pace either through federalism or outright independence. Alternatively if an Igbo becomes President our interest will be protected like other parts of Nigeria. |

Alcatraz001: May lord bless you, i do understand your fears but one thing that you have to be sure and you can’t escape is the effects of globalization and new economic order. Thanks for the advise, I think that it’s the WEST that need this advise seriously, considering the situation inn Ibadan, Ilesan, Ota, Ifo et al .I do not want to talk about yorubas but I think that xenophobes is killing you people and that I know for a fact. In today economy there is no room for isolation and you cant be isolar. Even the Russians and Chinese that have communism they opened up and have foreign direct investment or what is know as the FDI and this will raise the capital expenditure for the communities and also develop the locals. Now that is what you should know. Yorubas should stop complaining that igbos or non yorubas are in their region. It shows cowardice of the highest level, the fear of competition. Nobody will give you opportunities in a platter. When yorubas did it in 80s by chasing the Ghana peeps away via Ghana must go ideosyncracies they thought that the economy will be theirs, this was after Awolowo in his ignoble way gave the economies from aviation to multinational to yorubas via indigenization policies. Today where are the yorubas and those firms. They are death. That is by the way, if I am to advise you as one of my Yoruba friend will say, for yorubas to be relevant in the present economy they should venture out, Christopher Columbus opened up the globalization via new order. Today Brithian, Spain, France and other great world powers like china and America have their moneys in overseas. Isreal also is in that line. You go outside have a chunk of the foreign economy, pay about 10% tax to the local government and repatriate your funds home. This is what is keeping these countries afloat not their isolar domestic economy. This is what yorubas should learn not one oyo economic isolation theory. You cant be in isoltation today. If igbo leave you today the Asians will take over. Today Greece, Ireland and other few European countrie that need bailout are broke because they do not have offshore investments and workforce. If Greece had colonized vigorously like france or UK they wont be in this mess. Now you made a mention of igbo been in your wasteland or west land, that I will like to refute, igbos are not in west because west is better, HELL NO, it is basically for economic reason and lagos is where we hav e igbos most by the virtue of former capital of Nigeria and igbo been Nigerians have 101% right to be there. Lagos was not developed with money from cocoa or gbegiri, no,m lagos was developed with the proceeds from crude oil just like Abuja today. So you should be grateful to these regions that produce crude and they are not in SOUTH WEST BUT IN SOUTH SOUTH AND SOUTH EAST. That is a fact. So my dear brother from the west, you do not need to fear all you need to do is find a niche market and be competitive in the modern day economy. It is survival of the fittest and learn how to venture out. LANDLORD TRAVEL AND SEE. Thank lord that you have been to Enugu and maybe have you been to owerri or Onitsha lately, I doubt if you can use Ota, Ijebu Ode or Ilesan and Ibadan to compare those cities. These are cities that have functional international airports both crargo and passenger, tell me apart from MM1 in lagos any other airprt in the whole of south west region, even the inadan airport is death. That I know for sure cause I am always in bodija. All I have to tell you is that FORTUNE FAVOURS THE BRAVE, NO VENTURE NO SUCCESS. Nobody will give it to you on a platter, today chineses, American and south African are doing businesses in nikgeria so do you have igbos in South Africa, china, and America doing businesses also. What we are looking at hear are ways to have our economy locked up and can venture overseas and repatriate funds home. It is imperative. I think the earlier you start knowing the principles of economic expansion the better for you and Nigeria. I love your interest in igbo land the land of rising sun. let us compete and don’t be a xenophobic person. Look at yesterday they burn CHISCO investment in Lekki, that is a bad image for your people but I know that those investment are insured. So what is your position? 2 Likes 1 Share |

Do you guys know how many times they have tried to move Maritime academy, Oron in Akwa Ibom, today they are building one in Lagos, since, Former governor of Akwa Ibom state fought them to stand still. Do you know how many times they have tried to move Petroluem Training Institute(PTI) Effurum to North?? South South governors had to threaten Yara dua, that they will pull out from Amnesty deal for militant. Nigeria is a forced marriage, it never existed. The British amalgamated us for their selfish interest. This 2015 is an expiring date, i will support every move to divide the country. Proceeds from Agriculture and solid minerals from the North are never added to Federation accounts for sharing, but Revenue from crude oil is always brought to the table for sharing.
