I am Indonesian currently working in S'pore. What about you?

Which city in Canada is the best for looking a job as a civil engineer?

Well, it all depends on you. Depends on your occupation, depends on the funds that you carry with you for settlement, depends on ability to withstand the "harshest" windy weather. A lot of factors go into settlement really.

If you're in the financial service sector I would say, ceteris paribus, stay in Toronto (and by extension Ontario) but it doesn't come cheaply. If you are into Engineering, I would say Alberta is the place for you. If you are into manufacturing and mining I would say come to Saskatchewan.

That is not to rule out the fact that you can survive in any of the provinces if you got the zeal and the perseverance. As a civil engineer, you should be looking at Calgary or St. Alberta but be prepared to spend more for accommodation and upkeep even though the in Alberta is only 5% GST.

Once he lands, he has fulfilled his part and completed the application process as permanent resident (Yes application is incomplete until after landing!),he can leave for Nigeria although if he doesn't want to lose his permanent residency, he must observe the below:

Time spent living in Canada

When you are a permanent resident, you can live outside of Canada, but must live in Canada for at least two years in a five-year period. If you live outside of Canada for longer, you may lose your permanent resident status.

As a lawyer, you will do well in Ontario as that's the hub of business in Canada. British Columbia especially Vancouver, will not be a bad idea if you are into commercial law. In general, you should be looking at Toronto, Calgary, Edmonton, Vancouver, Montreal in Quebec (if you can speak French),Saskatoon, Regina, etc are some of the best places for lawyers and you know what? Lawyers are some of the people earning big bucks now in Canada.

Bro Solomon, while staying in Canada for total of 730 days in 5 years, during those period, does he/she has to work so he/she can contribute such as: tax to the government of Canada?

Thx

There's no obligation on his part other than to be a law abiding citizen, pay his tax if he has income (from outside of Canada) that falls under assessable tax.

If he doesn't want to work, he has a right but that doesn't come cheaply too.

YES.....You will have to be admitted to practice law (This is necessary as there are differences in the legal system of every country). Although as a lawyer, there are some occupations you can engage in that will keep you going. If you want to really practice law and want to be respected as a lawyer, there are program that you can enroll in preparing you for full law practice.

Hello All

Please how much does WES charge to evaluate a degree in Nigeria?

The reason is that WES is still yet to respond to my request to remove my B.Sc degree from the list of results to evaluate since i wanted only my masters to be evaluated. However, i have decided to go ahead and make payment. My bill is $203(based on my initial request to evaluate 2 degrees).

Kindly help.

Hello house, I discovered this thread after submitting our application December 2014. Great knowledge is being shared here, Kudos to you all.

My card has just been charged this evening for the application processing for the FSW. I have a little challenge. Who knows where I can translate my police clearance which is in Spanish. I need an accredited translator that will do a valid legalized translation, preferably in Port Harcourt.

Looking forward to your positive suggestions.

Please someone should help me out by responding to my query above. I need to make this available ASAP.

Please don't act on the response given to another applicant. You have nothing to really worry about. You can always inform your local visa office anytime communication is open. Once you sent a CSE and you got auto response confirming safe receipt of your message,be rest assured that they already have your message.

You can send a reminder once there's any communication from your visa office. If your visa office is in Accra, please send your CSE either on Monday morning or Friday morning (based on observed trend, they seem to respond on those days).

I had a similar issue with WES but when I contacted them, they categorically said that my request cannot be edited once it has been submitted. You may need to proceed with the payment so that the process will commence. Best of luck!

Hello House,
A quick one please, after applying for Express Entry, is it necessary to apply to a province and receive a nomination before proceeding forward with your application and getting an ITA? If it is, can you advice me on which province to apply that is good for a telecoms engineer. Thank you.

I would not advice you to use the response of a collegue to make your conclusion.
Fine...the overall response may later on be the same but its better to wait for yours.
First thing you need to confirm is if you have sent the CSE in the right manner.
I would suggest you send a follow-up mail/reminder to "accra.immigration@international.gc.ca" and accra@international.gc.ca".
Please tread carefully.
Cheers.

If you have notified them already to evaluate only one, just send a couple of reminder to them....you will be fine.
Your case is even easier because it seems you are yet to send your documents to WES since you just paid.
Even if you are evaluating 10 degrees...you will still pay the same amount so dont fret over the amount that you already paid.
What I will advise you to do is to include a cover letter signed and dated along with your certificate by courier to WES and authorize them to only evaluate just one degree solely...and tell them its the reason you are sending only one certificate of yours.
WES does not have obligation to respond to your query when you have not paid them the evaluation fees(seems you were yet to pay when you sent them the request to do only one degree).
Send you certificate and include the cover letter/authorization letter for them to evaluate only one degree....and you will surely be fine.
Regarding the evaluation cost...you seems to be doing fine but seems to me you did not pick the option of international courier delivery when they are sending the evaluated result back to you.......if international courier delivery isn't there,it may delay receiving it in time but if you have included it,then you are fine.
The overall cost used to be around $280 to $300 before now with international courier delivery.....may be it has become cheaper now.
Cheers.

Your request looks dicey....
Anyways...let me make a simple assumption that you have applied single and intends to to add your spouse to your application during processing.....
Please note that I did not refer to "fiance" simple because you can not add your fiance/fiancee/girlfriend/boyfriend to your application.
You can only add a spouse that has the legal backing of your country to your application.
If you have been legally married after your application already commenced...and you want to add him/her to you application, you have no issues.
You will only need to send a CSE (https://secure.cic.gc.ca/enquiries-renseignements/case-cas-eng.aspx?mission=accra) to your local visa office( i assumed its Accra) and notify them of your intention.
They will respond to you and tell you what you need to do to make it a success.
You may be entitled to add a "common law partner" to your application but I'm not sure that culture is not prevalent in this part of the world so you have to be legally married.
Summarily.....if you have newly married...its possible with no negative issues.
Cheers.

This has commenced a while ago....about 8 weeks and I'm not too sure of the closure since it was not specifically mentioned.
Please check your profession if its part of what is need in Novia scotia and apply...You will surel get any information on any opened provincial nomination as soon as its available.
