According to Buhari

In the last two decades, democracy has grown strong roots in Africa. Elections, once so rare, are now so commonplace. As at the time I was a military head of state between 1983 and 1985, only four African countries held regular multi-party elections. But the number of electoral democracies in Africa, according to Freedom House, jumped to 10 in 1992/1993 then to 18 in 1994/1995 and to 24 in 2005/2006.

This is the highest form of self mockery i have ever seen.

This coup plotter and dictator is on a pulpit giving statistics about electoral processes and democracy in Africa.

Does he have some form of dementia or has he forgotten that he terminated a fledgling democracy that would have been 34 years old and thriving if allowed to evolve.

Trust the Brits at keeping a stiff upper lip while laughing you to scorn in their minds.

During the runup to the 2008 Presidential elections in the US, Barack Obama visited a number of western countries including Germany, as a way of selling his foreign policy agenda to the international community. He was also well received in Egypt and a number of other countries. It is a democratic tradition that our politicians would do well to emulate. So GMB going to London to do whatever is no big deal.

Huh?
Buhari had his " Road To Damascus Experience"?

Abeg my muslim APC peeps, did Saul have a similar experience in your quoran as our Saul had in our bible?

Cos if not, this is one clear evidence that the speech was written by a Christian, probably Osinbajo.

Anyway, just to let him know, he is no Apostle Paul!
He may be a Saul, but he is still far from the road to damascus.
What is this one saying please? undecided

This here is conviction.

This here is patriotism.

This here is my leader.

Is it? Saying one thing and doing another?
If he really took responsibilty for everything that happened between 1983 to 1985 under his watch, what could justify him refusing to appear before Oputa Panel to take responsibility for the misdemanours under his watch? What would make him follow the cue of Ibrahim Babangida and hide away from proving his integrity? And suddenly now, he is what? A responsibility-taker?

"I take responsibility for whatever happened under my watch. I cannot change the past. But I can change the present and the future. So before you is a former military ruler and a converted democrat who is ready to operate under democratic norms and is subjecting himself to the rigours of democratic elections for the fourth time."
BUHARI

Lol!

Yet you have already threatened to back out of the Abuja peace accord just because they called you old and frail.

Converted my foot.

Meanwhile you forgot to tell them that you toppled a democracy.
How convenient.

Guess you didn't read the article. What he is saying is, 'What would a CORE muslim be flirting about with the 'road to damascus' for? It's as ill-fitting as wool on a cockroach.

You reason just like Buhari.

If nothing else, i will mention only one.

For once in our country's history Nigerians now know that their votes actually count.

That is the greatest victory and achievement a democracy can bestow upon its citizens.

The first thing the white moderator said was that Buhari's people asked that Buhari come to Chatham House to speak.

Instead of APC to campaign in Nigeria, they are wasting our money abroad. Projects in many APC states are suspended. Rivers state, for example is in trouble.

Your dear General doesn't agree with you on this one. Consult his reply to the summon. 'Human Rights Abuses' is something democracy never joked with anywhere in the world. Is there an 'excuse', any 'excuse' at all, no matter how flimsy, that can justify a 'changed' man from accepting 'responsibility' for his watch? Or this is a new 'Angel' surfacing in favourable clime?
Like I pointed out, he wasn't the only one who turned down the inquest. Babangida did too, a perfect role model for him, I must say.

Reading a speech that's written by somebody else is very easy. It makes the listeners think that you are damnly brilliant. Give him a mic & remove the speech..let him talk freely. I promise u say NEPA go take light

The hired speechwriter can do better. He should have used "On the Road to Sambisa Forest" instead. cheesy

Because it did not favour coup plotters and dictators, you condemn it.

You even obviously do not grasp the essence of a re-conciliatory panel.

That singular act shows the unrepentant arrogance of Buhari.

OMG, Buhari was addressing the floor, not the audience, he reads from the papers and hardly looks up to the audience.

What Buhari is reading addressing the floor can be addressed by Obama and David Cameron without looking on the paper.

You know, it's funny when people paint 'Buhari' all saintly and righteous.
Forgetting that he has been rejected for many reasons before now.
And suddenly, because many of the 'treasury-siphoning' godfathers are not sapping like they would love to under this administration, they have painted GEJ black and looking to try a new option in Buhari as a means to reconnect to the country's wealth.
To him and to the 'loot-depots' backing him, we say 'No vacancy in Nigerian Treasury'
