My point exactly. The only advantage I hear about Nigeria is money and money isn't everything. Peace of mind in a safe same environment means more to some people.

ccaramel:

Sukkot it's not that at all. Actually I earn more money from my businesses in Nigeria than my job in Canada, I have a bigger house, car in Nigeria and my family is ok. Mind you I was an international student for my undergrad and masters in Canada. Not cheap. It's not about money to me. But its about a sane and safe environment where the mind can develop. I just returned from a 4 month trip to nigeria and I couldn't wait to get back even with the sub zero temperature. The traffic, NEPA, gridlock, horrible drivers in Lagos is just not for me. Sure there's money but that's not me. Why do the majority of the kids of the rich stay and school abroad? Plain and simple. It's a saner environment. Things work better, govt is doing their job, police are doing their job, hardly traffic, safer environment generally. If you are ok with Nigeria if you have the opportunity to be in a developed country like Canada. It's ok. We all have different personalities and way of life. Nigeria will always be home. But I love Canada. If NIgeria can become a better country and govt decides to start working. I will be the first one to pack my bags and return home. For now. I am home. Home is where the heart is. I am happy here. Money is nothing.

That is the slave mentality we are talking about. Why can't the rich/our leaders build a Nigeria that can be compared to this abroad? Don't Nigeria have the means?

A typical Nigeria rich man or leader suffer a chronic form of inferiority complex. Look at GEJ in the midst of Oyinbos you will see what I am talking about.

You will know when we have good leaders, when they will build the country for all instead of sending only their children abroad as if abroad na heaven.

Build Nigeria and see Nigeria become visa free to most places and nobody we consider abroad as any big deal i tell ypu.

I don't get your argument. They send their kids abroad because they prefer them to get the education abroad and have a stress free life. The argument is why it is better to live in Canada than in Nigeria and not why NIgeria is underdeveloped and not the best place for the kids to have a quality life. This slave mentality you keep hampering on. Africans sold their kinsmen as slaves. What are we talking about.
Why do we imbibe western culture? Why do you dress like the whites, why do you drive a car, why do you go to school, why do you use a cell phone or computer? You my friend have a slave mentality as these are all things invented by the west and the whites.

hello,
i was in that kind of dilemma in 2003. i was in a bank and my wife was 3 months pregnant and I had an admission to in Saskatchewan. the truth is that you are not sure of a job even after your postgraduate degree. You guys are not citizens and trust me they will consider their citizens first before you.

My advice is this. get the visa but dont leave immediately with your husband. let him go and see how it is and you can both decide if you are to join him or not.
Forex trading cannot be seen as a job. i have done it before but it is too fluid to give a consistent earning. Your husband must decide that now you are both expecting a child, he has to get a concrete thing doing.

all the best at your decision but please, never think of staying back in naija when your husband travels o. u must follow ur husband. Looking after a child as a single parent is not yam!

Your definition of "security" is funny..I hope you are not running away from paying for some mortgage.... grin grin grin

In your own house (paid for by cash),you can be robbed by product of a failed system, maimed and killed! So I doubt if owning your own house/having a roof over your head is the true definition of "security"
you are starting to think like the white man. you came with nothing and will leave with nothing.

a house that is your own fully owned is all the security you need. everything else is secondary. make this your motto and you will have a happy life grin

If Nigeria works for you fine, I believe in a global world and people always migrate around.

Besides saying g police shooting black in America is rubbish because those blacks are gangsters and good for nothing in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Tell me how many well to do blacks who are law abiding that have been killed by police in America?

How many accidental discharges take place in Nigeria? How many non juridical killings by the police and military in Nigeria? Hugo to north Nigerian and see how many Nigerians have been killed or maimed in the name of boko haram.

sukkot:
this is greater than money. there is no peace of mind for a black man in the west. unless you are just a subservient slave minded negro. all over america the police is gunning down young black men. same all over the world. black man was prevented from entering a train by racist white people etc etc etc. there is no peace of mind for a black man in a white mans world PERIOD. i was in total oblivion but now i can see clearly. we are born enemies. esau vs jacob. it is biblical

The whites are still rulling through our evil leaders, its poverty that drove whites to Africa, and they dnt want that to occur again for ever, cos they will have to be back to square one, reason Nigeria is still in a sorry state, unless we do away with them,we are going no where. in that country
Demainman1:

The thing is that the corrupt people run things and are in charge and the merciful God is just watching them run the rest of us, his children into the ground. We have been praying since time immemorial yet the situation remains the same.

Why is it that only the politicians (and who know dem) are living large at the expense of all. I know that with constant electricity Nigerians will not even care who rules them and how much they steal yet they refuse to provide light. !!!

I have a simple theory for why electricity can never be provided in that country no matter what. it is simply a case of light and darkness can never meet and since our leaders have agreed with evil forces, they have been warned never to give light since they are of the dark. I hope my english make sense before someone go come give out to me grin

The slave mentality is when we can develop our country but fail to do so instead shipping our children to already developed places. No be human beings develop those places? It's so sad that our leaders run to the western countries even for ordinary malaria.

Our leaders should be ashamed of themselves for having this slave mentality. We can go to school, dress like oyinbos (if we want), drive cars, use cell phones, nothing wrong with that, but when our country is the way it is we become the laughing stock among nations.

Every black man here is considered second class whether your papa na GEJ or not.
