simple! most of the people commenting contrary to this are failing to realize its a terrorist laden zone and every precaution needs to be carried out. Tired of reading last facebook posting of soldiers before they were killed by the insurgents. If the man is really as schooled as he claimed he should have known better after all those chaps are even there risking their lives cos of people like him what would it cost to be a bit patient? If na me sef the back of the convoy i go follow till we reach the destination or turn off point seriously where could possibly be safer in those places?

Read his comments again, they were driving very slowly in their convoy. He must have known how long it will take him to get there at average speed, but they where perhaps causing traffic by virtue of their lower than average speed thereby ruining his chances of catching up with his plans as scheduled. It was just an act of recklessness by the military.

The prof said they were driving very slowly. I personally have encountered such slow military convoys. I only overtake when they ask me to.

Base on my opinion, he was wrong to overtake the convoy especially with the situation in NE, so many of our gallant military men have lost their lives, kudos to them atleast no live was lost

I understand your position because at one point or the other we have been there. but it is very difficult to understand a soldier's position because you may never have been there. Some of the attacks on troops using vehicle borne improvised explosive devices succeed because of little moments of hesitation to identify the drivers. many soldiers have lost their lives in this manner. they also have relatives like you and I . please it is not wise to overtake a convoy whether it is military or civilian.

Those of us who live in the N.E know very well that you do not overtake a military convoy especially one conveying equipment. Someone tried it last year, they punctured all his 4 tyres and showed him hell. I once travelled from jos to Bauchi in 3hrs 30min when we met a convoy halfway into our trip.

Book haram has used that method to carry out suicide bombing in the north...He was lucky he wasn't shot....Professor.. learn to be patient next time.
