In my vicinity this Easter season, its more about weddings - traditional and church.

And guys are wasting thousands of naira they need to use to do better things, on meaningless formalities involved in the weddings whatever.

Imagine spending N300,000 on traditional wedding and spend extra N200,000, on church wedding, to bring in someone into my life who contributed nothing when I was suffering and struggling.

And who has nothing to offer except arguments, naggings, pains, betterness, anger, malice etc.

Even if am the richest man in the whole world today, I no go do am for any woman. I can't spend more than N10 on any woman's head.

Check this nairaland forum. Its always about "wife sets husband ablaze", "wife cut off husband kini", "wife stabs husband over APC - PDP argument", "man caught pregnant wife making out with another man", "husband beats wife " etc.

And these are the so called marriage partners? That were married for happily ever after euphoria. What is the chance that, that person you're now wasting your scarce resources to marry will not behave devilish like this?

As for me I don't want to take that unnecessary risk. I wish guys can get some sense and self control and focus their energies on things that matters like:

1) Good job/ Good business(money)

2) Great house/home

3) Grand cars

4) Choiced accessories.

If I achieve those above am seriously fulfilled. Marriage these days are seriously over hyped. I tell you. I wonder how many of these marriages can last up to 6 months.

That a man and a woman are house mates or even room mates does not necessaryily mean they are still married.

I used to be so bitter too about marriage. Like the OP, I focused on just the negative stories flying aronund out there. But I decided to look deeper and saw that there can be and is happiness in marriage; there's companionship, friendship, love, bond, knowing someone's got your back, etc.

U have said it all, u don't need to say more. Considerable number of women advocate & propagate d positive side of marriage, because it's an opportunity for dem to put their burden on someone's head. Marriage doesn't benefit a man in any way, but love & sex wouldn't allow many to see this, some may term ur perception abt marriage as bitterness. But that is far from d truth, 99.9% of married couples suffer silently within.

Well let me furnish you with some facts. This thread is created to celebrate my 10yrs of taking the decision to stay single and still keeping to it.

I woke up one morning this year and I felt so happy I took this decision ten years back.

I took to nairaland inviting more guys to experience this life of bliss.

And still so happy I took this decision.
