i checked the Startimes channels list for Unique bouquet, it has ALL the channels i watch, the only difference is they have only NatGeoGold, while with
DSTV, i watch NatGeoWild & National Geographic. the number of channels i watch regularly is not really up to 10...

Porting is the best attack if we must hit MTN. It takes less than 30 minutes to be on another network.

Oh ok. But their programming is a little different & they tend to repeat the same shows throughout the day, worse than DStv. Shrugs. I tried it but it wasn't satisfactory for me, only thing I liked about Startimes are the Telenovelas

Realistically, who benefits more from the operations of MTN, Shoprite and DSTV in Nigeria? South African or Nigerian economy? South Africans or Nigerians?

MTN and DSTV only see you as a consumer, you are helping them to get rich and they don't even respect or like you, all they want is your money, take a stand for once in your life and use the power that you have (the power of the consumer) to bring them down.

Make them understand that you are intelligent enough to seize control over your own destiny, this tactic was used by Martin Luther King during the civil rights movement when he made all black americans boycott the public transport buses so that whites would stop making black people give up their seats for whites and sit at the back of the bus.

Learn self respect and dignity in a world that treats you as a second class citizen in your own country.

Thank God I never got back to the country again, despite renewing my visa to go. Something just kept pulling me back. Loved the country, but hearing these makes me think twice. People dead,it's way beyond any breaking of SIM card, but wouldn't blame anyone who does anything not harmful to protest. We all have loved ones there as we speak. But Nigeria has to show a strong hand and make them especially that stupid and illiterate king pay for his inciting comments. South Africa will pay directly and indirectly for this shameful act.

But the same MLK and his integration destroyed black economics/businesses and allowed the flooding of crack cocaine and guns into black neighbourhoods - and that has destroyed about two generations of black people. It moved from America to black diaspora, hence we have got gangs all over black diaspora, and our group-economics is poor.

And that was a government vs. people war, anyway. No correlation with this one.

This is laughable coming from a man who ordered the killing of Ndebele people in his country, for being foreigners. Ndebele people are still being treated horribly in Zimbabwe because they're not from there originally. He believes Zimbabwe is only for the Shona people & yet here he is clicking his dentures talking rubbish.

Maybe your free browsing sim, or something else.

Moreover, its someone who is not schooled, that will blame Mtn for the actions of some ignorant youths.

MTN has done well to empower some Nigerians, even more than many state governors have.

Let's stop acting silly.

I've always wondered why the Zimbabwe Ndebeles that I know always claim South Africa, when it's obvious they aren't from there. Now, I know better. I definitely need to do extensive reading on that.

Thanks, I'll google it now.

That's the problem with all these black leaders, they're all birds of a feather, and it's difficult to celebrate any of them fully - cos they all have skeletons in their closet.

Mandela - we can celebrate him for leading a struggle and going to prison for 27 years. But no sane person will celebrate him for the deal he got when he came out of prison on behalf of his people, despite the fact that the apartheid regime was about to crumble - with or without him. He's primarily the reason why these folks are still barbaric and angry.

MLK - celebrate him for the civil rights movement, his inspirational/motivational speeches. But the fact that he never prepared black folks for survival after integration; how to maintain certain things in order to compete economically; how to protect their communities; and the way he allowed the Jews hijack that movement to their advantage, thus making them the biggest benefactors from it - is the reason why black diaspora is messed up.

Mugabe - great he took the lands back. But he's a d1ck as well, if the Ndebele thing is true.

Etc..

I can't believe you as well find it difficult to think logically and look at the bigger picture, before advocating something that might lead to large scale genocide in the South Africa. Tit for tat will only complicate things - the best folks can do is to keep mounting international pressure, still they can find authority out there they will listen to, to talk to them. It's people vs. people, not a government thing. Whatever you do to multi-national businesses owned by white South Africans won't affect the average South African peasant in a Zulu village, or a thug in Soweto. So, what lesson are you trying to teach them, when they have got nothing to lose?

Also, if you go after South Africans - you'll just exacerbate it, cos those who weren't involved before would get involved - and start killing all foreigners. I doubt the total number of South Africans in Nigeria is upto five thousand max. Even in the UK, there aren't that many black South Africans here (most of those who always claim South Africa are Zimbabweans) - and there are more white South Africans than their black counterparts. I honestly doubt there are upto 10,000 black South Africans in the UK. However, I'd wager that there are hundreds of thousands of Nigerians in South Africa. So, are you willing to risk the lives of hundreds of thousands for just a few thousands? Also, I don't even think most Nigerians in South Africa want to return to Nigeria - why put their lives at risk?

It's better to pray for peace to reign, and other black folks to come together and put pressure on the ANC government to grow some balls and find a lasting solution to the wealth disparities in that. It's not fair on those people. I don't condone what's happening there but once you look at it critically, you'll get a clearer picture.

And the bigger picture is what exactly?

No YOU need to look at the REAL PICTURE which is that South Africa is sitting on a tinder box of impending doom my friend, doom rooted in an evil apartheid structure which is yet to be dismantled.

The average black south African was lied to and misled by Mandela - yes I said it. Mandela led his people up the garden path and SOLD THEM A LIE, many were deceived into believing that once the evil white racists were removed from the corridors of power everything would be fine and dandy but unfortunately for them Mandela sold them out and today the same problems are rearing their ugly heads and the unfortunate recipients are black Africans.

WHEN IS ZUMA GOING TO GROW A PAIR OF BALLS AND NATIONALISE ALL OF THE NATURAL RESOURCES IN THAT COUNTRY AND KICK THOSE EVIL RACISTS BACK TO WHERE THEY BELONG?

Stop making excuses for the same racists who have made it equally impossible for you to live in your own country of origin. What pacifiers like you want is for us to keep dancing around the truth, sorry I will not play ball to your pathetic game of praying to a fictitious God in the sky to come down and help us solve a problem that can be solved very easily by taking the right stand.

Appeal to the international community - don't make me laugh ! Who is the international community? isn't it the US and EU ? So let me get this right you want black Africans to appeal to the same people who created the problem in the first place - thanks, but no thanks, I would rather go for MASS BOYCOTTING OF WHITE OWNED MULTINATIONAL CORPORATIONS WHICH WILL ENSURE IMMEDIATE ACTION ON THE PART OF IMPERIALIST HOUSEBOY AKA ZUMA. If it was good enough for MLK who used it against the white supremacist system of the united states its good enough for black Africans to use against a lame duck puppet president.

And please do not accuse me of trying to exacerbate a situation that is already in its critical stage - lets not forget to allocate blame with the correct people - Africans did not create nor fund apartheid, the last time I checked apartheid was invented by racist white south Africans in order to deprive the indigenous people of their birth right and it was aided and abetted by the US and Europe.

Err, I just repeated everything I said. Albeit you added that I'm making excuses for white people, which I never did, when conversely I have been saying ANC needs to grow some balls and redistribute the wealth created by the apartheid structure.

The country hasn't changed and the same barbaric structure whereby the minority white settlers own the overwhelming majority of the country, while the majority indigenous black folks live in abject poverty. Which is the reason why they're the way they're.

My grouse with ya post is that you advocated tit for tat, and that's unnecessary, since it will exacerbate the whole thing and might lead to genocide, with black Africans there at the receiving end.

And yes, international pressure can help, if they can get someone they respect to talk to them. I don't think ANC can do much unless you want those angry people to overthrow the government.

I don't live in Nigeria, but if I did I would destroy anything connected to DSTV or MTN period. The majority of Nigerians live below the poverty line, if you want to elevate your conditions on a wider scale you have to start thinking as a collective not in terms of what a few have. Basically the black South Africans have thrown the first punch are you man enough to make them pay for that punch?
