well-deliver-20000mw-four-years/ . i sincerely enjoy your analysis and would like to remind you of this promise by buhari that he would generate 20,000 megawatts of electricity within four years. i have don a little analysis and come to the conclusion that they would need to build atleast 30,000 new power plants within four years to achieve that which is not feasible. also remember the impossible cost implication. thanks and remain blessed

So 30,000 new power plants are required to achieve 20,000mw of electricity?

You guys ignorantly debunked the possibility of paying unemployed graduates which even Mr. Jona is about to sign into law, and now this?

PDP have seriously ruined your lives to the extent you now see a GOOD life as a mirage.

I really don't know how you pessimists will survive being in the opposition for 4 years.

You people's expectations have been so ravaged by incompetent, vision-less leaders that you no longer believe any government can achieve any great thing within a short period!

Gleefully awaiting your disappointment at the end of GMB's 8-year rule. (Grins out of thread.)

You don't dampen people this way. If anyone makes wrong postulation about a field of study I'm well grounded, I'll politely draw their attention to that, and then also use that opportunity to enlighten others who may be harbouring similar sentiments/opinion.

Subtly abusing those who aren't considered smart in a particular area, not only shows we're immature; it also shows ourselves aren't grounded in the area concerned.

Building 20, 000Mw generating plant(s) is possible in four years but the major problems are transmission/distribution systems and constant supply of gas (fuel)

I just want the governor of Lagos State, Fashola to be appointed Minister for power to see him fulfill his promises of providing constant power supply to a population of Lagos State and the Industrial facilities in 6 to 8 months.

No time for excuses

barcanista I gat your back. Buhari will regret making promise he can't fulfil most especially with less oil money this time around.
No wonder he is plan to give David west minister of petroleum so that Niger deltans will not react. He fail.

Goon, buhari will not fail Nigerians. Nigerians aren't greedy, give them basic neccesisities of life and they will sing ur praise forever. Jonah-daft that promised floating cities in ND, what happened to him and his citcities? Nd has since forgotten their promised cities but instead stuck on ethnic reasons.

that means he would build thousands of power plants going from site selection to evacuation, building and operation within 8 months. even with the numerous power plants currently under construction by GEJ coming in to production, that would be impossible.

what a shame such illiterates analysis. You dont need more than 8 power plants of just 2500 MWatts to achieve that. And 2500 Mw plant is not even a major big power plant.
Infact with just 2 nuclear power plants 20000Mw can be achieved. With $10 billion you can build an 8000-12000 Mw power plant. So with just $20 billion NNPC Unremitted funds power will be stable. Your only weapon which you are ignorant of is the timeframe of 4 years. I gave you that for free. Nuclear power plants takes an average of 5-7 years to complete but thanks to chinese and russians you can have accelarated construction.
Thank god Nigeria has the technology and are already enriching uranium since 2006 at the nuclear research institute and we have already built an reactor in 2006 under Prof Shamsuddeen. Even the IAEA were here when the reactor was lunched.
During OBJ's regime a contract has already been awarded but was cancelled by Yar'adua/Jonathan regime. All GMB have to do is pursue this.
It is only nuclear that can give such lump of MWat in one plant. All developed countries of the world use Nuclear plant for base load. Solar, wind can never give us the desired result.
Hydro have limitations currently the only major hydro power plant possible in the country Mambilla thats all and cannot give us desired result.
Gas plants we need atleast 8 plants and then we will face the problem of gas transportation due to pipeline vandalisation which is the major dilenma we are currently facing.
So Op which analysis gave you 30,000 power plants? Even USA with their population, land area, industries doesnt have 200 power plants all over the country.
All Nigeria needs is 4-5 Nuclear power plants to attain 50000Mw status which is more than what we need. And we have the uranium here in Nigeria no need for importing the nuclear fuel.
The excess Mwatts can be a source of income by selling it to Niger republic, Ghana, Togo, and other west african states.
THIS IS FEASIBLE TECHNOLOGICAL AND ECONOMICALLY

The issue is,will they allow him to perform? And will he be able to do 50% of all his campaign promises?

Believe me,his own case will be worse than that of GEJ. If you tell a lie,you will need a thousand lie to keep the first lie going,i hope APC are cooking more lies and propaganda down already..

I'm going to make an argument from my experience in the power sector as a Power Systems Engineer. It costs $1.5 million to generate 1MW by gas (If the pipelines and metering stations exist). For solar, it's depends on the technology involved which is far costlier than gas. For wind, it is 10 times more expensive than solar (Depending on the technology of solar). Coal is kind of cheaper than the rest. Now building a power plant above 750MW ranges from 15 months to 24 months (note this is just construction). From planning to design to logistics to financing to construction and commissioning takes 4 - 5 years except for Nuclear which can take longer than 5 years due to planning.
Secondly, the transmission capacity right now (last time I checked) is 6000MW. Distribution is a different matter entirely. My point is in order to get 20000MW to the country, we are looking in excess of $35 Billion for generation alone.

Am average Nigerian isn't greedy. An average Nigerian is hardworking and doesn't expect the govt to feed him or his family, neither does an average Nigerian wants crumbs. What he wants are basic things like security, infrastructure, job etc should be available and he is good to go. If Nigerians see prospects in u, they could be patient.

What is good for the goose is good for the ganders, even when GEJ was doing good,APC still tag it as bad..

Have u wondered why the same first set of people that criticised Jonah-daft were the same set that lay their lives on the ground for him to be president when turai was torturing him? He was given that benefit of doubt despite failing miserably as governor but he disappointed greatly and proved himself as part of the status quo. The little good he did were overshadowed by his numerous misgovernance and deceit. It was one week, one scandal.

So just get prepared,he is not there yet, people are already complaining...lol,ok naa.

Their complains move me not an inch. Buhari is president May 29 and that's all that matters now. Am optimistic about his govt and ready to give him time the same way I gave Jonah-daft before the fool went ballistic. If buhari should fail me which I seriously doubt, i won't hesitate to give him also Jonah-daft treatment.

by your own analysis, you have accepted that such a feat is impossible in four years and that's all that matters. i don't want to waste energy on the plain stupidity of building two nuclear power plants in lagos by Russians or Chinese.

Hahahahah. We are still struggling to effectively manage domestic wastes. A nation with such a sloppy record of safety shouldn't even delve into Nuclear Plant, let alone have them built by the Chinese and Russians.

Just keep those plants aware from the SS!

that was why i made only a passing remark about the financial implication because i know it's not financially possible. my major point is that it's not even technically possible. and buhari is still making more promises. two days ago, he promised to bring water from central African republic to lake Chad. i just de look this country.
