Must the Senate president come from the APC?

What we want is capable hands and if there is one from other parties then he should get the position...plus he'll even be eager to perform just to show Nigerians that his party is credible as well as not allow the APC use him as a scape goat...

I believe it's time we begin putting our leaders and those who occupy public offices under pressure because only then can we experience true change and move our beloved nation forward

David Mark is available o. Irrespective of party affiliation, he is still by far the most credible and capable person for that position. He has handled that senate fairly and peacefully without bias and prejudice. if not for party sentiments, I still recommend him. No cases or any form of indictment or wrong accusations.

Buhari need someone like him to drive his anti corruption campaigns because that will put some party members in check but selfishness and ulterior motives wont let them see that.

watching to see the out come.

Of course GMB would not want to interfere. If only Nigeria was a sane country, why should a president bother himself with who gets what? What is important should be getting the job done.

Let them handle themselves and may the best candidate win
You don't know anything about politics.
Even US presidents influences the selection of Senate presidents.
They do so to make sure they have someone they can work with there.

You made some sense and a lot of non-sense in wat u said
Why didnt the PDP give dat possition to d opposition as there were more credible senators dan David Mark who even stole a mandate
I'm so sorry sir if my comment made no sense to you..

But all I am trying to say is that people tend to work better when they are on their toes and when they know that that they do not have any backing or unfair cover when they do something wrong...of course if our Senate president was from an opposition party he definitely won't have that cover and this might just make him perform his duties diligently

Beside let's look at it this way..when the issue of increasing the minimum wage to 18k came up..why do you think the first governor to buy the idea was Adams Oshiomole?
I think it was because he understood that he was in the opposing party and knew that if he needed support from somewhere strong and if he couldn't get it from the top he was going to get it from the us -the masses
So I feel if we leave the Senate president with only these two options and knowing that the ruling party will roast him at the first opportunity he will cling to the other power..the masses and off course he'll have to perform before he can get our support

That's probably why we are where we are today..didn't you notice how the pdp started working once they felt the hear from an opposition...imagine if this pressure was coming from the office of the Senate president..the third highest position..we'll be far better off than we are now..or if the pdp didn't realize it and we remained virtually stagnant for 16 years..do you want the APC to also not realize it and try to monopolize power and keep us at another standstill for the duration of their reign?? I think it's time we forget about the past and look into the future Cuz only then can we move forward..besides they've sold us the change idea and I think it'll be weird if they started doing the same thing their predecessor did that is rather than accepting the challenge an opposing party can bring they try to kill it off not by performance but by hogging power..they they would have sunk to the same level as the pdp which will mean trouble for Nigeria as a whole

Ok..

Contestants: A. Senators Bukola Saraki, Kwara Central: case with EFCC

B. Senator George Akume from Benue: clean and looks like a potential candidate

C. Senator Abdullahi Adamu of Nasarawa State : I think clean

D. Senator Danjuma Goje of Gombe State: case with EFCC

E. Senator Ali Ndume from Borno State : case with Boko Haram

Therefore contestant B might get the position.

Akume and Adamu clean? Maybe their knickers. Certainly not their reputation. If you bank on it and make a fuss the opposition will be all over them like flies over fresh poo in an instant.

"Did PDP too allowed any opposition party to b d senate president for dere 16 reign"?
Guy 1 GBUSAA to you for this question. I have noticed one body language very common with some persons here who love to preach justice when it is to their own advantage, but when same stand is to their disfavour, they become silent.
My question is how can you work for something and allow another person who never worked or supported you to come and enjoy on the basis of competence? Where was the person when you and your party members where sweating it out? Or does once competence demand laziness? Somebody should tell me please?

Even if that "best" candidate eventually ends up in jail after conviction for corruption? Should we then start looking for yet another "best" candidate? Public probity should count.
