Let me use this opportunity †̥☺ enlighten y'all on the different kinds of Officer commissionings in the ARMED FORCES:
Basically, we av four (4) types namely:
a. REGULAR COMBATANT (RC) - these r the ones that spent 5yrs in NDA. On passing out, come out with second lieutenant (*) απϑ after 6months, become lieutenants (**)

b. SHORT SERVICE COMBATANT (SSC) - these ones attended universities, or polys' a B.Sc or HND or even M.Sc, but as long as u bought the "SSC" form, on passing out, u'll become a second lieutent (*) før 3yrs b4 they become lieutenants (**)

c. DIRECT SHORT SERVICE COMMISSION (DSSC) - here, pple enter with B.Sc, HND απϑ even M.Sc as well. But here's d trick: DSSC is more of administrative than the SSC which is more of fire power. DSSC on passing out become lieutenants (**) απϑ after 4 yrs become captains (***) OR før those with the medical degrees; instead of 4 yrs being captains, they only spend 2 yrs b4 being captains (dat's d 2yrs seniority før med personnels).

d. EXECUTIVE COMMISSION (EC) - these ones r før pple already in the service in the non-commissioned cadre like Sergeants, Staff sergeants who wish †̥☺ become Commissioned officers. On passing out, they become lieutenants (**) as well.

Salaries differ in different LEAs and also according to cadres.however the pay almost is same for eqivalent levels but allowances differ according to job specifications and revenue generation.In defence(army,navy,airforce),higher hazard and similar allowances are paid but officers of the DSS and EFCC get other allowances as wardrobe etc.If the EFCC for instance gets the 10percent recovery approval they've been asking for,that would amount to an increase in certain allowances for them.

So many pple dunno dis @ all. Most of ma colleagues who applied via SSC really regretted. So d best bet; apply thru DSSC!

All this things is not that straight forward. You can suffer losses of seniority, fail courses, No appointment to cater for your due promotion etc.
If tell normal civilian DSSC, he shouldn't assume he is exempted from military operation, say na "bank work" he is entering for.
Army work na Army work, the composure and officerness of an xboy for example can earn him command or appointment whether him be colito or regular or whatever he is.
Army work is still largely Army work, it is a fighting service, and very few scared cows. Forget advancing in rank fast or every other assumptions, it is not guaranteed for instance regulars self dey education Corp too,in the recent past it wasn't so,for instance again that you as Regular no be say go make brig Gen at 48, One DSSC or SSCE man will make it at that 48 (because for instance because NYSC slot for Director General is open). ..highest is brig gen or major gen.buh u can not be d Chief of any staff...buh most of dem retire at dat cololnel rank(same apply to airforce or navy)
