d op has been a firm beliver of Nigeria and always calls for true federalism.
Of course.

You can't talk about building a United Nigeria without first of all uniting all fronts by touching on those issues that are making the people to agitate all the time. This is the backbone of true federalism.

So, there is no way his thread was regional, should we wait for other regions to raise our matter ?

The earlier you accept the fact that the resources in question belong to Nigeria the better for you.
when the west had cocoa, then the cocoa wasn't for nigeria but was for the west, when the North had groundnut they it was for the north. But the law was rewritten when it came to niger delta oil because we are minority. The character of a man is to say the truth even if it is bitter.

Shagari made it 1.5%

Babangida made it 3%

Abdulsalam Abubakr made it 13%

Obasanjo confirmed the 13%.

What did GEJ, our brother, add to the percantage??...Nothing.(Temitemi1 Hero)

As much as i would want 100% derivation of oil paid to Niger Deltans, i am obliged to ask exactly what have our past leaders done with the 13% paid for over 10years.

We aren't helping ourselves at all, and barcanista, the Op of this thread knows that..Other Nigerians are aware that almost all of the money paid for the development of the region is being pocketed by political class and very little is done to alleviate the plight of the people.

The leaders of the Niger Delta must be seen as working with, and not stealing the 13% Derivation, to justify any increase.

The derivation, NDDC and Ministry of Nger Delta are mediums through which Nigeria tried to better our lives, we have failed ourselves, and Nigeria is watching at us.

Seriously, are you comparing cocoa with crude oil? For your information, crude oil is a natural resources which just happen to be the property of the government and not any individual like every other natural resources in the land.

is tin, coal and other minerals Nigeria was exporting then not natural resources?
If oil was discovered in the North and not in the Land of minority tribes, would oil have been for all?

Not every Niger deltan is it the way you are talking. I personal have been a fan of Buhari since 2003, I have been voting for him since 2007 and my family has been voting for him since 2003 even if we know he would not win them. But that doesn't mean that I shouldn't say the truth, Niger delta have been treated unfairly because it consist of minority tribes, we all know the story would have been different if Oil was discovered in the Land of a Majority tribe.
Imagine the North demanding for 5 percent of oil wey dem no get, what if they own the oil?
I am for a One Nigeria.
I want two things from Buhari: 1. He should fight corruption in Niger deltan, I would love to see Lucky Igbinedion in Kirikiri 2. Give Niger deltans more contro of her resorces. Any other thin na Jara

If Jonathan had done it he would have been seen as the president of the ND. The best time to agitate for resource control is now, it's our prerogative to start agitating for resources control when we feel like it. We don't need outsiders telling us when to start fighting for control of our resources, its our prerogative. Harness your useless views alone, this thread is not for your type.

The Nigerian state has rejected all avenue of peace to settle the environmental issues that has plagued the Niger Delta people and her environment even as billions of dollars has been taken away from the land and the people left poorer and an environmental degradation that is unprecedented in the history of any land due to oil exploration and exploitation is being witnessed on daily basis .However ,any form of armed struggle should be discouraged as criminals have always hijacked such movement to enrich themselves and abandon the very people they claimed to be fighting on their behalf - We hereby demand for fiscal federalism or 100% resource control .Anything short of this, is another call for anarchy and chaos for the Nigerian economy.

Barcanista, I strongly disagree on that point that Jonathan failed to settle the Niger Delta issue - In a unitary system of Governance like the one we have right now that was built on a false structure ,there was nothing or little Jonathan could have done to make any changes until those that has allocated more positions to themselves in the lower house and Senate decides to do what is right before it is too late.

I personally said that Jonathan's emergence as a President was nothing but a Greek gift and that was proved as some elements promised to make the country ungovernable him and carried out their threat to the later while the rest used the social media to destroy his administration.Jonathan is a child of circumstances .

Our position is very simple and clear - And it is in the best interest of all stakeholders in the oppressive Nigerian state to behave. We can't guarantee the approach that would be used by our generations tomorrow.

Were you expecting President Jonathan to develop only the ND because he comes from the ND, have you taken time to find out how governance works?

You should have written this during GEJ administration, at least he grew up in that region and have first hand information of the situation. Yet failed to institute a permanent solution to their struggle or is there more to this than we are been told? 18% derivation is no joke if put to good use.

All the money that has been allocated to ND area since 1966 be it 1% or 18% is enough to develop that ND. The people of Niger Delta should start holding their own people accountable, not only the government. I don't believe 100% resources control will change the situation.

I agree that our governors mismanagement is a greater problem than resource control, if they can't manage what they have now, so they would still do when there is resource control. My position is that both problems can be solved the same time.

I agree with your last line. It is time to make a categorical demand WITHOUT shifting ground. This is just the way forward. They may propose one Agency again or commission, all na wash...

As for the PIB, the truth is that I don't see that bill to be passed by the NASS. The fate of the Niger Delta will not see any progress if we solely depend on the NASS even if they make you Speaker and make me Senate President. The truth of the matter is that the North have Numerical advantage in the House of Representative. For instance, while Kano state have 24 seats, Kaduna states have 15 seat, Rivers and Delta states have 13 and 10 respectively. Cross river is allocated 8 seats, while Sokoto get 11. Edo has 9 seats while Bauchi gets 12. You see that there is numerical imbalance in the Parliament
