DanWrites...hello smiley Awayu?
If you were referring to me as a 'friend' of Ishilove in your now hidden thread, can you pls tell me why you feel some of us don't deserve FP and some of you do?
Again, what/who is stopping you from recommending threads for the FP since the thread was created? Were you banned from doing so?
Go and recommend great stories written by the great writers you prefer, no one is stopping you.

As for me and my stories, some like us, some don't. Life goes on.

Btw, I'm going back to that thread to recommend another of my story. If it is FP worthy, fine and if it is not, I will improve on my writing.

Btw, I don't want to bicker oh, but the bile running in some peoples guts can poison them. Easy, biko. No one has ever paid me for making FP.
First of all, I do not have any 'beef' with you.
I read all the insulting remarks you posted and only smile. For a supposed writer, I had thought you should have provided a structured reply, not to quickly exploit the incriminating word - hating! People are bound to disagree; that's not hating.

I presented an arguement and instead of responding to it, the mods quickly deleted the thread. At least, I took small satisfaction from that.

I believe you would have known better if you were here the time the Literature Section was virtually the most respected section in Nairaland. Making FP was recognition. Ask Larrysun, Royver and a host of other great old writers.

You think it is all about making FP? The truth is that the recognition is gone.

My mentioning of 'friends' was figurative [I even italicized the words] It means the mods are just taking stories to FP at random.

All I was trying to suggest is that the mods list the standards for judging a story for FP. We used to know them; but now that they have changed the rule, shouldn't they mention it?

For a start, I feel a thread should be created where writers who deems it fit would drop links to their stories in order to be critiqued by a panel.
This panel, I feel, should be headed by Sir Larrysun, Royver and Ishilove. This panel would also be responsible for selecting the best story to be stickled on the frontpage every one week. I think, with the rate stories are being frontpaged now, things wouldn't augur well.
The panel mentioned earlier or another should also be established that would develop literary games. One particular one, I know, is one which the panel would drop a word weekly and interested writers would develop a story from the word in not more than 300 words. Any story found best would also be frontpaged. This idea was developed by Kennikazi.

This is a great idea, if only the seasoned writers will make out time for this. A while back, I used to write just poetry because I learned a lot from firestar, and other literature-landers who write poetry like oahray, redmosquito, etc (back in the days of cuddlemii) . I remember the duels we used to have back then in 2012 when I was hotnaijababe. I learned from all of them. I dabbled into story writing some months back, I really wanted to write and improve on my writing but there was no avenue for this.
Now I just write however I can since no help is forthcoming.

losprince:
I suggest that a standard critique committee be formed to rate and criticize our stories--plus the programmers could also add a rating button for stories and their subsequent updates.

This standard critique committee you speak of is a great idea. I really wish we can put this in Place.
Ishilove, obinnau, kindly look into this please.

D9ty7:

Since I made the above suggestion, I have been going round the literature board hoping to see a thread lurking somewhere, but there has been nothing of such.
We are on a mission to make the literature section better. And in my own honest opinion, I don't think this board should be about stories alone. It is boring.
Lets have competitions, quizzes, debates, short story competitions. Put them on front page rather than having a photograph contest every year being celebrated on Nairaland.
I hope to get a reply soonest.

Basically, the owner of this site wants topics that will generate traffic on frontpage. It is pure business and no sentiments attached.
In this section, I believe we feel relegated to the background. Tons of stories get churned out everyday and barely will the Smods move any to the front-page. We know our challenges already, some of us have Suggested ways to move forward.
The issue now is have we done anything about any of the suggestions.
You talked about a thread but really, nothing stops you from creating that thread. I believe that once we take a step in the right direction, all other things will fall in Place.
Thronekid talked about creating a panel, IMO , once we start the thread, we will mention writers like Royver, the Op of this thread, Repogirl, EfemenaXY and then, we move forward from there.

Still on the matter, Ms. Ishilove, can a thread be created where links to freshly-pressed stories will be posted. Writers who desire to be critiqued will simply post a link to the new story and call on any seasoned writer(s) to help out.
The thread must not be derailed or spammed, no chitchat or bickering too. Just post a link to your story and mention those who will critique. Simple!
You can also post rules on the thread or anything to deter unnecessary chitchat.
This way, writers will get the help they need and the quality of stories churned out will also improve. 'Grammatikos' will be corrected, we will learn from each other and the section will reclaim it's glory.

One of the points raised is that D9ty7 (or ishilove, obinnau) should create a thread so that we can nominate the 'committee/panel' that will help in critiquing stories.

writers do not take kindly to constructive criticism. is it now corrections they will gladly accept.

I hate to say that this thread is dead on arrival.

it's people's ego we are talking about here.
In response to your post. Madam, I stand to disagree with you.
Not everyone who write stories here are in the category; WRITERS. And for the records, writers accept criticisims, corrections and even the not so constructive ones. Great writers have a team of critics looking into their works.
The fact that some people on Nairaland hate to be criticized based on what they write doesn't make them a writer. I call them STORY TELLERS. And moreso, the thread didn't make it a must for writers to drop their stories. If you think you need someone to critic your work, drop the link. No one is forcing anybody.
You get my drift?
