Blastfinito:
I just logged in today 27th March since the day I posted my suicidal plight. I live in Iwo. About the manuscript: something came upon me of recent; a force beyond man, I think, which floods me with waves of artistic ratiocinations, hence a revived urge to work more on the manuscript. The manuscript is now in great shapes I never dreamed of. I've left my brother's house to stay with a benefactor. I'm starting a teaching job when schools resume next academic term. Thanks.

I pray God to grant you the grace to live on, please never contemplate suicide, stay blessed!!!

So touched by your story that I had a teary eye while reading cry

My dear
HIV is not a death sentence
You can live a fulfilled life and even have kids of your own

Its now a function of your knowledge at this point.

Did you not get any counselling at the hospital that tested you
Have you done a second test to confirm

HIV is the least thing that should make you commit suicide.

Medical breakthrough in this field is enough for you to know that you can live healthy and can procreate.

You have to make up your mind to live on drugs.

I have been looking for who to talk to but I have no one.i invested in a business but I was duped. The money I invested in was borrowed from my brother. He is threatening me and there's nothing I can do to appease him. Everything I tried to sell or help people sell to.raise.the money didn't work out. He has taken all my possessions and is going to go further. I'm scared out of my mind. I think of running away or ending it all because everyone has deserted me. I have nobody at all in this world.

Have you done a confirmatory test?
HIV is not the end of the world.HIV positive people do marry and go ahead to have kids who are HIV negative.
Yes,you will have to be on medication but you will get used to it and it will just be like taking daily multivitamins.
I'm willing to follow you up and be of assistance in getting medical care if you wish. You can send me a PM.

I really do hope your brother cannot harm you.Call some family members and explain the situation to them.Just keep looking for some work that can generate an income for you and let your brother know you will settle him instalmentally.

My heart goes out to all the folks here contemplating suicide. I hope and pray for a turnaround in your life and that God gives you his joy. I have been at my lows too, but never ever considered suicide as the only option, although sometimes ive contemplated running away and starting a new life somewhere. I want to encourage us all to never give up, life is just too precious to waste away. I pray you all find the courage to look yourself in the mirror again without shame and tell yourself you'll get through whatever life throws at you. God bless you all.

Words can't express what I feel for those going through one hardship or the other. How can I console someone who has terminal disease? weeping for you won't suffice nor will saying kind words. I can only pray to God to make you strong and firm in the face of these adversities. Believe me, your acceptance of your new status as a universal problem will help you take proactive step toward staying fit till further notice.

Don't think about death because of your status, it will only wear you down. You might even be the last among your peers to leave this world due to the uncertainty that surrounds everyone continued existence. Let once at a time and allow the morrow to take care of itself.

Move closer to God during this period. It is a blessing in disguise for religious folk to have terminal disease because it reminds one that continuous existence isn't guarantee. Hence, make one conscious of his relationship with God.
You're not alone in the struggle because several peeps around the world share your plight. We on this forum feel what you are going through.

Nice topic. I always try to talk to people going through sad times or depression. I'm kinda like a shrink, Kevin Spacey style. Haven't quite met anyone who had suicidal tendencies though.

Like people have already mentioned, when someone's depressed, it's just best to find someone to talk to. A friend. An ex. A relation. A church leader. Never go through sad/depressing/hard times without having someone to talk to. If you wanna cry while talking to the person, please cry well. Don't ever think it's best bottling up your problems and going through them alone. (Make sure it's someone you trust enough.)

Another thing I have discovered that helps is taking up another hobby. Learn some new game, scrabble, chess etc. Take up a new sport like tennis, badminton, football. Make a new friend. Travel a little. Just do something fun you haven't done in your life or you haven't done in a long time.

Even I sometimes need someone to talk to.
well, you have met me.

Many people don't understand depression...sadness is different from depression...you hear de...thats the Devils emotions leading you to be with him...if that makes any sense...even if you like skydive, swim with sharks...pray to your God...it dosent change anything after you are done, the feeling comes back heavier after that feeling of excitement. The only solution to depression is a solution to your problem and its mostly money in Nigeria.

Yes!!!! I can make it.......And before u know it,ur life is a testimony. smiley smiley

I had to create a new moniker to be able to share my true story, not to gain pity but give hope to whoever in need that might stumble across it.

- Very smart people make stupid decision/mistakes too.

I'm a Gregorian, studied economics at Uniabuja, contacted a family/childhood friend and got into the UK afterwards. Believe me, most Nigerians do menial jobs over there and since I wouldn't get involved in anything illegitimate, I did my time until I stumbled upon a priceless information... Exportation of tyres!! I did four shippings and I made 60-75% profit each time so I returned home. Business went fine and a lot happened within three years - I had raised my capital base to N2m got my first car (a 2004 audi A4), got a very comfortable apartment and still had a savings of N500k for upkeep; life was really good at age 24 years. Two years later, I bought two plots of land, gave my mom the audi and bought a 2006 RR Vogue.
The just concluded elections were approaching and a lot of uncertainties were surrounding Customs' activities, so around October last year I decided to throw in a big risk - I thought it'd be a nice idea to sell the car and put as much into the business since we're in for a long time off - this, would eventually change my entire life. The Vogue fetched me N3m plus another combined N1m from two retailers at Oyingbo (both of whom I supplied goods).

Delivery kept dragging for over four months. Ladies & gentlemen, to cut the story short, I got to know I had been duped - Facebook and Instagram accounts deactivated, phone lines not going through, N4m down the drain with no tyres to show for it; from what I found out, my supposed "friend" was no longer in the UK!!

My mom got sick and her health gulped over N1.2m, the pressure from the Ladipo guys were so much that I had to sell one of the two plots of land to clear the debt. I couldn't afford my rent so I resorted to squatting with a friend and sold the Audi to purchase a used 2004 Accord in order to be able to maintain it.

Life has been more than extremely hard the past 5 months; I had to start selling priced personal possessions from wrist watches, shoes, clothings - anything sellable. Nothing was working out and after job hunting to no avail, depression, excessive drinking and smoking came in, I was starting to talk while walking on roads and became an exact opposite of whom I was.
Time flew, a lot happened and guess what I do to survive at the moment? I wake up very early in the morning, make it to the airport and use the Accord for a taxi (two runs fetches N4,000 the least) then I return to my friend's place like nothing happened. He's employed with a monthly pay of N65,000 (bear in mind that I "hustle" everyday excluding Thursdays and Sundays, never exceed two trips and always return home before noon. 80% of the times, I make over N4,000 so that puts me at nothing less than N80,000 monthly). My friend is still having a hard time wondering how I manage... but honestly, somethings are best kept as secrets.

I won't say I'm back to normal but, now I can afford three meals a day, manage to look good and also saving to get a self-contained apartment in order to start all over again.

Please note, whatever messy situation you may find yourself - be it academics, finance, marriage, family or what have you - there is always and always a way out and it is never far fetched (rather, always within) but only if you would fight giving up, think and open your eyes.

God bless us all. :-)

I really love real life example of fighting setback. May God restore you to normalcy as soon as possible.

I always say something, that is, irrespective of the situation you find yourself, there is always an extraction point if only we are patient enough to see it. Don't be sad because things failed to materialised the way you planned it, it is always a means to move to a higher ground.

@ Abuklaw:

Thank you for the well wishes, bro but honestly, it's a road I wouldn't wish the worst of my enemies ply.

@ athenavenus:

What I'll advise is find someone wise/patient as a confidant to talk in order to lessen the depression, GET AND STAY BUSY, stand your ground and never ever lose your cool at any given time.

I admit to still thinking about the past a couple of times, that's why not staying idle is key; I jog for 30 minutes every morning, say my prayers, get out of the house (major reason I don't feel bad on the job is that I ALWAYS LOOK & SMELL GOOD - never take your appearance for granted, stay courteous and humble with a smile always - I mean, to hell with my previous status, this is real life bro, so pull up your pants and roll your sleeves, too!!!) and I don't come across as the average cabman. When I'm home, I read a lot, do PS3 and recently got a sporty bicycle to ride out every evening just for the fun of it; I realized that one can still enjoy and live life even when one's not at his/her very best. I hang out with friends again and guess what recently, one asked if I've secured a job, lol.

Getting over your present situation starts within you and yourself only; channel your thoughts to the positive side of things and have a healthy mindset, feed and nourish your focus, stay determined, exercise, distant yourself from unnecessary pressure and never force things to go your way, starve plenty of your distractions and get closer to whatever you believe in (God/Allah).

Please, try to find someone your brother might listen to, plead for some more time in the duration of months (that would help you relax, think and see things clearer and from a less stressed point of view), find anything menial (I would have done too except that I have a petite physique and don't have much muscular strength) doing that would at least put food on your table and if you can, SAVE LIKE NO TOMORROW in order to refund your brother in bits either every forthnighly or monthly (always refund something no matter how small). You needn't tell me how downcast you are (trust me, I feel your pain, bro) but if I can still be here today, I strongly believe you can and will beat your predicaments too in the nearest future.

You will smile at the end, bro.

Very touching but realistic approach to fighting depression and suicidal thoughts.

The spirit can never be defeated if the owner keeps fighting on.

I implore all reading this thread to take a big cue Tacbaugh, nothing is guaranteed in life except CHANGE.......and death.
