Hmm. River state again? APC and PDP rubbing shoulders as usual. If APC wins is free and fair but when PdP wins then is rigging. APC should allow Nigerians to have some peace after all there was no free and fair election in the last election whether presidential or governorship. PDP should also allow APC to take their chairmanship win whether they participated or not after all they boycotted on their own as they were not forced to boycot. please all the APC and PDP supporters or rather Noisemakers should allow some peace in this country. We are not yet through with the bokoharam issue and fuel scarcity issue and this noisemakers want to bring up another issue.

This ELECTION is APC VS APC. All other parties boycut the election because of court injuction.

PDP did not participate in the election.

Amaechi is naive, Wike could come in and disband all LG and appoint Lg sole administrators until he is ready to conduct a proper LG elections as a governor.
Secondly all the governor might decamp to PDP to avoid Wike wahala. Amaechi just used this exercise to embezzle money, Wike will make him account for soon as he is sworn in.

I am a supporter of APC but I have to call a spade a spade.

The election was fraudulent... its very simple.

Why will Amaechi even conduct election when he has few days to vacate office...

So the people that voted pdp in the first and second election are all dead abi?

First election pdp won & they shouted it was rigged. Second election they won again... they shouted it was also rigged.

Abeg APC should learn to accept defeat to save the lives of innocent Nigeria.

I think our constitution has to be reviewed... let INEC be in charge and conduct elections at all level. (fed, state and LG). The state governor has so much influence and power on the local counsel conducting the LG election and so it always go to their favour...

How so, especially when APC went to the polls against itself? Far from it. This "poll" (if that's what u call it) will be rejected as it was a massive joke.

I guess the council chairmen who jus won their LGAs according to the useless OP, hav only 1week to work cos I see Wike the Hero of our time terminating such nonsense.

As for thise dullard thinking the tribunal wud order for a fresh election, keep waiting, in four yrs time we wud kno more about the outcome.

Amaechi, trying so hard to impress his masters in Lagos and Daura.

Let us see how they would manufacture 1 million votes na! The truth is what wike achieved with mama peace, gesilia khan, police and inec, amaechi has achieved with risec. I can't believe that pdp will turn to cry babies over night. A whole wike. Is he not on ground again? Running from common lga elections. Like I said it's a booby trap for him. My views on Amaechi are well documented on this site, however this is one booby trap for Wike. As powerful a politician as he is, thus is one big mess. They will be in and out of court for the next two years. Their allocation will be withheld at source if he refuses to recognize them and the Timothy nsirim treatment will be reserved for him.
At the end of the day, the masses will suffer most.

I agree with your views. Wike has mouth in Rivers state because of Federal might. I think with the departure of Johnathan wike is in for a hot soup.
Only fools still think wike will remain relevant in Rivers politics.
The LGA election is a trap for Wike who will not last up to one month in office.
People just comment on sentiment without facts. Amaechi fought Johnathan, PEJ and Wike and he conquered them.
Take it or leave it Wike will weep and sorrow. its a matter of time.

NgeneUkwenu:
Candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC) were ahead yesterday in 22 of the 23 councils during the local government polls conducted by the Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission (RSIEC).

The exercise, though peaceful, was however marred by low turn-out caused by heavy early morning downpour.
The rain, which started around 6am, flooded the major streets of Port-Harcourt.
Though the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) boycotted the exercise, over 27 political parties participated in the polls, according to RSIEC’s chairman, Prof. Augustine Ahiauzu.
The election, however, didn’t hold in Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni council where the tenure of the chairman and councillors will end next year.

Some voters, candidates and leaders of the parties praised the RSIEC for conducting a free, fair and transparent election in the state.

When the rain eventually subsided in the afternoon, officials of the Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission (RSIEC) and the electorate were sighted at the various polling units.

The APC accused the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) of misinforming the public that the council polls had been shelved.
The PDP had approached a Federal High Court in Port Harcourt for an order to stop the Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission (RSIEC) from releasing updated voters’ register to RSIEC for the conduct of the May 23 local government council elections in Rivers State.

However, Justice Lambo Akanbi adjourned the matter after hearing from counsel to Rivers State government and RSIEC, Beluolisa Nwofor, who informed the court that he had filed an objection at the Court of Appeal.
“What that simply means is that PDP has started nothing until the Appeal Court determines whether the Lower Court has jurisdiction to entertain the matter in question or not.

“It also means that there is nothing restraining the INEC, RSIEC and other parties from proceeding on their course of action prior to PDP initiating any court action on the matter,” Rivers APC spokesperson, Chris Finebone, said.

The APC governorship candidate in Rivers state, Dr. Dakuku Peterside, after casting his vote at his Ward 3, Unit 6 of his coastal Opobo hometown, the headquarters of Opobo/Nkoro Local Government Area of the state, told reporters that the election was peaceful, while describing the turn-out as impressive.

He said: “The people of Opobo/Nkoro LGA are excited that for once, they have the opportunity of casting their votes and knowing that their votes will count.
“I am very confident that from the reports I am getting from other LGAs of Rivers State, the people are very enthusiastic to cast their votes. I am not surprised at all about that.”
APC candidate in Omuma LGA, Chidi Oluo, told our correspondent that the process was transparent despite PDP’s claim that there was no election in the state.
APC chairmanship candidate in Ikwerre Local government area, Hon Bestman Amadi, also said the election in his area was credible, free and fair.

The lawmaker representing Etche Constituency at the Rivers State House of Assembly, Hon. Ogbonna Nwuke, commended the electoral umpire for conducting a credible election amidst tension and threats, saying the commission did not succumb to intimidation.
