I will continue to shout this....... 'Nigerians are illiterates' and that is the biggest issue not corruption. Illiteracy is what fuels our corruption

We never sit back to think. Even without this expose, who cared to know how revenues and disbursed?

Why do Nigerians focus on the federal while neglecting tge state govts closer to them?

Why do Nigerians support the oil marketers against the govt? And when the marketers arm twist the FG... they will cry foul

..... and very soon they will turn their anger towards the incoming govt without caring to look into details.

Crazy mob mentality is the bane of our followership and that is root of all the troubles.
You are not making sense. FG kept abut %55 of what it had shared to the governors. Like Soludo asked, what prevented FG from saving its share of ECA?? Why did FG become profligate like states? Subsidy payments were appropriated in 2014 budget, time for FG to pay up!! Imagine if you are still owed for the work u did in 2014 when $1 was N160 and now being paid in 2015 when $1=N220-so Naira has lost 37%-for every N1000 owed in 2014, it's now worth N625 in real Naira value in 2015. Mind u 2015 fight is coming!

I can't agree less with you. Politics has bedeviled and beclouded their sense of reasoning.

Imagine if we've left Mr President deregulate/remove subsidy from oil sector in 2012, WE WON'T BE IN THIS MESS OF "FUEL SCARCITY" TODAY.
but, every PROGRESS have been politicised.

The subsidy ish didn't go through proper consultation, it was a kinda right thing at the wrongtime, how can you remove subsidy when refineries aren't working?Nigeria would have been left at the mercy of marketers, but as it is now, we have no choice but to remove it. Besides before the 1st attempt at removal, Nigeria was debt FREE even when we were buying petrol at N65. So why the $60bn debt, if not mismanagement?

You guys should stop taking sides and be realistic, how have his predecessors been tackling subsidy payments and still are able to siphon money in to personal accounts? How come jona can no longer pay? We kno who to blame but we take sides because he's our son, its wrong, we'r one nigeria.....this is the worst state this country has ever been in and its during gej's tenure....

WHAT DOES kANO CONTRIBUTE TO DESERVE SUCH AMOUNT? AT LEAST WITH THE OIL PRODUCING STATES I UNDERSTAND BUT WITH KANO, IT JUST DOESNT MAKE SENSE.

Kano gets as much and even more than some of the oil producing states even in addition to their 13% derivation because according to our highly questionable census, their population is higher than most states in the south. We are expected to believe that contrary to the laws of nature, arid regions command higher population than the wet and southern parts. The moment the immediate past head of the NPC scratched this particular issue, he was shown the door.

i've been watching with keen interest the way some gullible Nigerians insult this woman.
I begin to ponder and ask myself "what was her crime".

With all the propagandas flying during the electioneering process, never was any accusation of financial embezzlement or recklessness levied against her.

Even the eagle-eyed media and social media crew never had any corrupt case against her except the state of the economy which in reality has many players and influencers that are more powerful than NOI.

I laugh when I see under-aged dullards who didn't even pass Economics in WASSC turn economic experts to insult this woman on Nairaland.
Ensure your mother can spell economics before you quote me

Now I know why the Governors are mad at Dr Ngozi Iweala. Their projections for 2014 were all wrong because of crude oil price crash.

The statement from the federal ministry of Finance noted that the “figures show that they (states) received:

N966.6 billion in 2011,
N816.3 billion in 2012,
N859.4 billion in 2013 and
N282.8 in 2014.

The States over projected their incomes in 2014 budget hence the abysmal failure in performance rating and target achievements.

And the funny thing is that the Same Ngozi Iweala suggested that oil benchmark be reduced in the 2014 budget to a more realistic $60 but guess what, the senators and the reps refused and the governors were clapping for them..

When oil price crashed, they all started crying wolf

Our state governments are not held accountable enough.

They hold the ace to a better life to the common Nigerian.
Yet we keep piling all the blame on the central government.

With the way Nigeria is currently structured, this system of looking to the FG rather than State governors will continue because the FG holds the purse strings and doles out cash so like family, when Mummy no do, pata pata u strong face go meet Daddy wey dey give mummy before cos Mummy, without actually saying so creates the impression that Daddy is owing or not giving enough. Meanwhile the State governors feed fat and show almost nothing with allocations received.

Nigeria needs to be restructured along regional lines so each region is responsible for its security, development and issues directly related to the people while an agreed percentage is paid to the centre for external relations like foreign affairs, national security exclusive of internal policing and all such stuff. That way, regions are forced to find and develop viable means of survival because there'll be nowhere to go cap-in-hand every month for pocket money. Then people will know where to go and whom to hold responsible.
When lecturers strike for instance, the FG shouldn't be saddled with such.
