He should have introduced himself first and then asked for the permission to take pictures and not just rushing into it because he is a journalist.

Meanwhile leave Jonathan out of this.

Infact you deserve life imprisonment. How can you go to a persons home and start taking random pictures because you're a journalist? You can't do that with a poor peasant farmer talk more an Ex president. Them no teach you how to ask for permission? Thank whatever God you worship say no be soldier catch you. Nonsense.

There are 3 sides to every story....Your own, their own and the Truth. We have heard yours, let us wait for theirs to decipher the truth. Meanwhile, the act of assault on journalists by security agents should be checkmated.

So you can reason like this...? But in the Other thread... you was quick to tag APC with violence...

dearpreye... you should really shut up... I'm sure you didn't get the security you were hoping for...

If I hear you get beat... Bro... it's none of my business...

the treatment on this man is conclusive not fair.but its a lesson. The house of the ex president is a sensitive location.which before anything that is done around there needs a certain clearance .because we knw that anybody can plan from pictures taken.its like taking pics or even taking cals around central bank facilities

Journalist...take permission...smh.

Did you read the part where he said he was already a target because of his previous write-up.

Jonathan may not have anything to do with this but the same cannot be said of his cronies.

He was photographing a private property that happens to belong to a sitting president (Emphasis) without seeking the necessary permission. Loitering around an environment like that is a serious risk from a security operative's point of view.

What if he's an insurgent on reconnaissance?

I don't believe freedom of press covers a case like this. The fact that photographs were taken without authorization is very wrong. A thousand IDs wouldn't cut it. They just had to hold him for questioning.

from the write up, if u really know ur job, before taking pictures of any properties, u need to take permission from those on site. we are not in animal kingdom abeg
Since you want to form knowledgeable, can you tell us what part of the journalism ethnics/code of conduct this is written in?

So a journalist must take permission before he takes pictures of a public person like GEJ? It is not as if he took GEJ's picture in the bathroom?

This is truly barbaric, yet some dolts would be giving me the freedom of information rubbish, contrast this to the story on FP where TOUTS wearing Ta, Al shirts were immediately accused of being APC members, here it is the MILITARY beating up an innocent reporter taking pictures of his President's errr sorry EX-PRESIDENT's home. This is a wakeup call to all those who believe Saint Jonathan is incapable of evil, shame on them for this barbaric act. Just sit back and watch the well oiled robots attack me..... grin

Omenka why na cry
.....................you know its really shocking how some of you guys reason and analyse issues! Most times you apply this very parochial thought process that is amazingly disappointing to state the least; for goodness sakes, the fact that there's freedom of information, is it a reason for any passerby to take a snap shot of the presidents house in a volatile area like bayelsa and the person should not be apprehended? I guess he should also walk into his bedroom and snapp him and his wife because he is a journalist and a punch reporter at that! Let hi go and get us the pictures of all the low rise and high rise products of loot that your godfathers has erected in lagos without proper security clearance and see if he will not receive a worst treatment than this! You guys really need to humble yourselves and study harder, knowledge is critical especially when you have to criticize people rather blindly!

He's taking pictures of a property that belongs to a sitting president. Those kind of homes are military zones. You don't just walk closeup and take pictures with your mobile. No one would have harassed him if he was only looking. Sentiments apart, it doesn't sound right.

After reading people's comments and mentions I realised that we have a long way to go in restructuring this country. If there was no one at the site then it's understandable but he met people there and without introduction or permission he starts taking pictures and he expects them to clap for him
I give up honestly undecided

I kinda agree with this statement, even if ur a journalist, u have no right to come to my home nd snap pictures without proper introduction nd permission to do so. I strongly believe we shud be more civil in doing things. The security operatives did wat was logical in that circumstance.

Permission to take pictures?
Yes - on a personal property with security agents on guard .Wait o o. Does that estate really look like an ' Island Palatial Estate ' as reported ? At times you can incur peoples displeasure with the way you paint wrong pictures with words.

Also tell us where it is stated in our constitution that a journalist should be beaten into a coma for a report * a mere report* on buhari as was the case in the inauguration

.

I'd recommend this thread be placed directly above the other which claims thugs beat up a journalist for doing a report against Al Makura and Buhari.

TANoids were seen to be very ecstatic on that thread and busied themselves jumping up and down like Orang utans overdosed on steroids.

Thugs aren't state agents yet they still found a way to drag Baba's name into it and tagged it the commencement of "Decree 4". Here are state agents directly attached to their remote controller, Jogogoro (apologies Demdem) doing the Decree thingy.
