If you have been a victim of fake car parts then you would understand the mechanics we have in Nigeria, I'm not saying the mechanic he wants to use won't get him a good engine but some person's don't want to take that chance.

Bros, name a professional that allows his clients to go with him to get materials. Lets say u are having a wedding and give a contract to a wedding planner, do u also go with him/her to get materials? u can as well do the decoration and planning urself. When u are upcoming u accept every shyte because u are looking for clients, but once u become a professional, then u have to be professional in the way u deal with clients.

Well.. I really won't want to blame hoodboy for wanting to go with Gazzuzz to get the Engine because I just blamed OP for not getting involved in the repair of his vehicle..

I also don't know why this is such a big issue really.. Or is Gazzuzz from Ondo state like lomomike? grin grin

I also understand the sense of camaraderie that has made every Cartalk member speak in support of Gazzuzz... grin

It is good this is not a matter of been cheated but a matter of just principles..
But it will be nice to hear from Gazzuzz though...

I have known gazz in the last few months and he has brought my engine from grave yard, to living light, my engine now breaths fine, he didn't only work on my engine but also other parts and made them 2 be in top notch. I traveled all the way from abuja down 2 lagos 2 meet gazz for the first time and after four days he gave me back the keys of my car with a sound engine. I didn't give him a dime until he was through with the car and he gave me the analysis of all the expenses he incurred. For someone 2 come online and started casting aspersions @ gazz is wrong. U might have done something bad 2 him and he felt like not working with u. And for u 2 have come online 2 insult him that means u don't have a good personality. Thanks (kunle)

@coldplay007 I actually wouldn't recommend gazzuzz to anybody, dude is quite petty. I had contacted him about my car, drove all the way from Surulere to Ogba, he told me my engine would need to be replaced I heeded his counsel asked him to get me costing On getting to His place today with plans of dropping off my car to return tomorrow for us to go get an Engine, dude started catching feelings, telling me "I should go look for a roadside mechanic who I will fgollow to the market to buy parts" for crying out load we are talking of Engine replacement why shouldn't I be involved in the procurement process, even if I'm coming as a silent observer. Gazzuzz bluntly told me I should go back with my vehicle, just because I
Follow him to buy part? Its absurd n unprofessional. That means no trust. Can't work with pple with such mentality.

@abatically, even when I had tried to reconsider my position, he just shut me out and wasn't ready to listen. Note, I wasn't even insisting on following him, he just turned me back immediately I mentioned it. Even when I said fine no problem, he was not even ready to budge, that kain shakara on money I'm going to spend, haba
There's one thing we have to understand, ppl have their different ways of doing things and we have to respect that.
I changed my gearbox 2 times in 2 months and each time, I left the purchase in the hands of the mech. I'm going to change it a third time when I have money and I'm making arrangements with Gazzuzz and I'll still leave it in his hands. Call me a fool or whatever you wish, but my question to you is this, if I follow him to go for the purchase, can I differentiate a good gearbox from a bad one? You are forming baddoo, can you choose a good one from a bad one? If ur answer to that question is no, then you have no business being there. And if I know my brothers well, ur presence won't still stop them from spreading very thick wool over ur eyes. The only thing is that if I'm not happy at the end of the deal, I won't come back. Chikina.
And for Gazzuzz to have said he won't work with you, it can't simply be because you want to go with him. You must have said or done something that pissed him off. So tell us the whole story or just shut up.

My work is really hectic, i do not have time even to eat sef, now anytime the car develop issue, i do not even have time to go to his shop let alone stay there. that is the reason, and he keeps scaring me that if i take the car to another mechanic, they will remove things out of it and sell

I drive toyota avensis 2007.

And my mechanic is making life a living hell for me, when the car has issue, most times i cannot be repaired once, he will repair the first, bring it and the same thing will happen and he will do it again, sometimes it takes up to 3 to 4 times to get one issue resolved.

The one that happen now is so annoying, last week the car accelerator at some point will not move fast even if you press with all your power and finally it will stop. and then i will start it again.

My Mechanic came to pick it up, fix it and bring it for me on Sunday and on Monday the same thing happen.

Will i ever be able to get a good mechanic to help me out on a low budget. i am so tired, im even crying

Let me attempt to repair the thread before it was

I appreciate those who have stood up for me, thanks again. There are times one has to put his foot down on certain issues. As I said earlier any one with a problem should open a thread I'll respond there.

On to the poster I quoted who is the original poster, you seem to be "comfortable" with who you work with, he's probably worked on your vehicle for a long time and you now share a bond. That's possibly why he's no longer objective about "long term" fixes, all he's interested in is the vehicle moving since you will still call him to effect any other repair sin the future. If you really want your car in top shape it's either you get the equipment and the technical know how and do it your self or find a reputable repair shop to do it for you.

We r judging d complanant harshly. He offerred to follow gazzuz to pick d engine but never insisted on dt. I think gazzuz was very rude if on dt ground alone which gazzuz admitted he shut him out completely. If d customer ve reconsidered his stand his car issue shld ve been treated. d customer is d king
N dt is y there is sth called customer care.

D complainant shld move on d car owner is d boss jst sack gazzuz as ur mechanic n hire another. I cant remember d number of mechanics I ve sacked in less than one year.

D last thing I will do is to allow my mechanic boss me (professional or quark) arnd no neva. If u won't follow my instructions u ll get d matching order ie d red card is urs

@ Gazzuzz, you and I both know I wasn't the one who sent that message to you, neither did I sanction it nor was it sent from my phone. C4, whom you've met did, funny enough I just found out about it, and if I knew I would have called to apologise on his behalf because it is quite distasteful. Though inexcusable, I would blame it on the frustration of driving all the way down and meeting the response we met, after trying to make you see reason.

It still doesn't explain your behaviour towards me, i reminded you where I was coming from and all you said was "i don't care". Was I rude in anyway to you? I had pleaded with you to come to surulere to pick up the vehicle, but you said you couldn't so I had to ask C4 to bring me down, you know i don't drive. He skipped work for me, only for you to get all petty on us, and that's the mildest way to describe your behaviour. And to the best of my memory that was the only negative thing i said to you on Tuesday after I had reminded you of my efforts and you kept saying "I don't care".

C4 told me he got a call today, and all. I know there is no way he'd have meant what he said, don't know him to be like that and he's my best friend so I can somewhat vouch for him, though what he did was quite foolish, but then again like I said it was out of the frustration caused by you.

Eventually, I'm going to get my car fixed, "road side" or professional, you are not the only knowledgeable auto-technician in Lagos.

Never for once did I argue the price with him because it was fair enough for me.

That is how the business is done in Nigeria, I don't think the guy overstepped his bound by wanting to go with him to buy the engine?

I understand we can't blame Gazzuzz for not wanting to do business with hoodboy, (it's his choice), but stop making it feel like hoodboy committed one big sacrilege by offering to go and buy the engine with him... There is nothing wrong with that...

I know for a fact that Gazzuzz has been under the weather for some days. That's by the way, everybody has their own area of specialization. It is not possible to be more knowledgeable in people's area of specialization. If u can't trust Gazzuzz in the first place, it is illogical to even attempt to allow him fix your car for you. In some garages, you cannot even be granted access to the workshop floor talkless of seeing the repair work being effected on your car.
If you had gone ahead to buy the engine, and it had issues and you had to return it 3ce and for each engine installation, you are charged for Labour, you will appreciate things better.

I never said I didn't trust him, at no point was mistrust an issue, well not until he bluntly said he didn't work that way, at which point I was open to his method but the way he just shut me off completely is my grouse. Telling me to go buy the engine myself, what do I know about buying engines. If he refused to put into consideration the distance I was coming from, He should have also considered that I had also patronised him on Sunday. Granted he told me he was under the weather, which I also mentioned, but that still doesn't excuse the way he treated me.

I know it is not by force, but when you have already agreed to do something, I think it's morally binding on you to see it through, especially if the other party is open to compromise when disagreements arise.

He had told me the engine will be purchased on wednesday, but he'd like to drop down the existing engine in the vehicle before procuring the new one, so my plan was to take down the car on tuesday so he could do his thing i.e dropping down the engine, then on wednesday we hook up and go get the replacement in Itire. If I may ask, what was wrong with that plan?

Mr disloman, what anyone does for a living isn't your business you're not a police or any law enforcement agent. Unless you're interested in giving her a job (in the unlikely event she's jobless).

@ Mrs coldplay007, ignore the question asked by disloman.
