In a superstitiously and religiously society like the african society, being an atheist is seen awkward and some fanatics will brand you a demon.

It is understandable why religious men/women will run away when they find out their partner is an atheist, sound minds that are tolerant and understanding are very rare.

I for one is an agnostic atheist a very proud one for that matter and i must say even as an atheist people in my street respect me a lot and seek my counsel on religious arguments, i rarely say am one openly but everyone knows for sure and has distinguished me from many who always loves talking and discussing with me even the girls tho am a one man guy so i stick with my girl friend who is also a theist.

She knows my atheistic stance and is cool with that, insist she will like a church wedding which am ok with cus Atheism doesn't mean Anti-theism... That i don't drink star doesn't mean i can't wear a t-shirt with star brand.
To me wedding in church for her is just a ceremonial process which am ok with.

I have many atheist friends who are girls and they are of the opinion of marrying a fellow atheist. If i was not in a relationship with the love of my life i would have loved to marry one of these my atheist female friends tho..

Anyway I think Ideologies evolve with time, so african superstitious mentality will soon be redefined to suite a secular world of which our world is evolving into...

Few Nigerian ladies will get married to a man they know is an atheist. I once dated a lady who was getting impatient and wanted to get married.

Since getting married was the last thing on my mind, I didn't want to waste her time so I thought of breaking up.

I told her I had a confession to make and that I was an atheist. That was the beginning of the end of the relationship.

I never did church wedding. Neither did I do any baby dedication.

In my extended family, my clan, the havoc that religion has done will take generations to heal.
Yet, these are people who breathe, eat and drink religion every second of their lives

There is much more love , life , beauty and harmony beyond all these pretentious, contradictory and toxic middle eastern trash that were fraudulently sold to us.


The unfortunate thing is that Africans are being the last to discover this.

I will never marry an atheist. No matter as one may try to deny it, our belief system ultimately impacts negatively or positively on our attitude, character, our habits and ultimately our future. I'd not like to build a home founded on Christ or engage in religious activities like attending church or praying regularly without the support of my wife as though we live in different worlds while I'd never like to impose my wishes on her to do what she's not comfortable with in addition to countless misunderstandings that may crop up in the future in relation to our religious beliefs, the thoughts of which leave me in a dilemma.

I'd rather spare myself such dilemma. I'd rather keep from marrying an atheist and save myself a load of problems in the future.
