please why are Nigerians not paying for any online ideas that someone introduce online be it membership site, online stock report, ebooks etc. Nigerians just love free things both online and offline its not encouraging as an entrepreneur. pls let's know the reasons why Nigerians don't pay for any online ideas apart from webhosting fee, any other ideas they don't pay. 2 Likes 1 Share |

player007: I concur with you absolutely.... For Naija trust dey too low cos everybody be alobam..... Well, you only need Authority to sell good in Naija and anywhere.... Without attaining an Authoritative position in whatever you do online, you can never make a good sale.... You only attain Authority through copyrighting and good content marketing. Seth Godin said it well: "there are the people, there are the language they use" So you can never be an authority with including all the aspect of good seo in your copyrighting. Nigeria will not pay for any online learning because they don't trust themselve. The difference between free stuff and paid stuff. Free stuff don't take you anywhere because its like introduction without details or guide. Nigeria will not develop if they are into free stuff. The problem is that most people rush to put up their premium products without making a name for themselves first. Nobody will buy from someone they don't know or trust. You can make sales consistently to a Nigerian audience if you can take your time to build trust and establish yourself as an expert before making any attempt to sell anything. One of the strategies for establishing trust is to give away lots of valuable information for free. Once people come to trust you and regard you as an expert, they'll eagerly buy anything you offer for sale. I spent two years trying to build trust and establish my expertise before publishing my first ebook. Now, I have two ebooks and one course, and they all fetch me decent income monthly. 17 Likes |

caoalvin: I thought am the only one experiencing this Naija attitude; I usually receive at least three calls each week for one on one internet marketing coaching, when it comes down to coaching fee.......these people will start talking another thing. It is either they complain of distance, promise to come some other time or just won't show up again. So I think, after spending years, money, time and energy learning what I know today.....putting up a blog and maintain it for 3 years....these people expect me to download everything I know into their skull for FREE? No way! am not going to do that! I have writing a book on bloggjng and give it out for free, another one about to complete which is going to be also free, but to say I will sit for hours with you in front of computer teaching you what I know for free? is not going to happen. 1 Like |

Good question @ OP The reason is that most Nigerians don't trust anything made in Nigeria because some people doesn't trust anyone when it comes to money and for me to trust my life saving online in a country where even if you get hacked your bank will mock you .. Police will even beat you for not listening to FRAUD alert that is going on everywhere around the country so to my own opinion I don't trust anyone as regards that but manual payment will be ok and people will be patronising it We are not in America don't let us copy what ever that country tells us to do Anyway in God we trust !!! |

Ignorance, no insult intended. But secondly and more importantly, finances... In a society whereby you hardly can think of what to eat in the next 24hours,you tend to check your pocket before doing anything else (survival instincts). US citizens consume majority of the world online services and that is so because they have more than sufficient to cater for their basic needs. They tend to watch youtube videos hours long without bickering and how much will an "average" Nigerian spend on dataplan daily (N100?) They'll better spend that on "Bread" for supper, or they may go to bed hungry. Online scammers make money off citizens of the developed nations not because money is easy to come by, but because they can survive the next one year even without what was extorted from them. Improved Standard of Living can make Nigerians reason about online services, businesses or the likes. Standard of living such as : i. CONSTANT ELECTRICITY: whatever digital material you download, you'll need power to go through them on Lap/Desktop pcs). ii. CONSUMER PROTECTION AGENCY: Many of the services rendered by many companies both local and international seems to come at outrageous prices (which would still fetch them enough returns if delivered at a lower price). eg Telecommunications (dataplans), Power (PHCN, BEDC) and other related basic amenities that could improve lives of Nigerians and reduce overall cost from other sectors, all these have cumulative effect on the financial strength (purse) of common man. People love online services but many who are not ignorant of wealth of resources available online do not have the access... [size=18pt]BLAME it on our STANDARD OF LIVING.[/size] 6 Likes |

It is very true. I sell online, so I can testify to this. Out of 100 people I chat with, maybe 10 will show real interest and then 2 will pay for the book I sell. It is a tough job...filled with people abusing you and calling you all sorts of names. 90% Of Nigerians believe anything done online is a scam. In my 5 years of doing business online, I would say the people from the North are the most trusting people online. I don't have to do too much convincing for them to believe I am not a scam. And then you have the people that just WANT FREE 99. I know how to spot them once I start chatting, so I don't waste too much time with them. 2 Likes |

Cause we are also Enterpreneurs and trying to minimise our expenses cause you cant expect us to pay exhorbitant money to browse on net, pay nepa bills to power up our phone, so you dont expect us to see a way out to minimise our cost and you expect us to be inconviniecing our pocket. |

Knowledge is free. You can find information on any thing online absolutely free. The key is knowing when to invest in yourself to delve deeper into that realm of knowledge which you seek. Additionally, our distrustful culture (scams, frauds, etc) makes us less likely to pay for information when we can easily get it free elsewhere. Like someone said, establish the worth of the information you are offering and watch people offer you thousands to acquire that information. BTW...did you know that top schools in the world like Harvard, Yale, Oxford; they all offer free online courses!!! You just have to know where to look!!!!!  |
