In the wake of the Flying Eagles and the Super Falcons’ unimpressive outings on the international scene, the Nigeria Football Federation seems to be looking towards the direction of expatriate coaches to handle the national teams. While the football house would insist on having expatriates head the technical crews of the various national teams, the back-room staff would still be headed by the indigenous coaches.PINNICK-NFF

“The foreign coaches will be given convenient nomenclatures like ‘technical advisers or technical directors with the indigenous coaches working under them,”our source said. The Flying Eagles crashed out in the second round of the 2015 Fifa U20 World Cup in New Zealand while the Super Falcons were shown the exit door in the group stage of the 2015 Fifa Women’s World Cup in Canada.

According to a top NFF source, the Glass House has instructed top level football technocrats to shop for three technically competent coaches who would train the Flying Eagles, Super Falcons and the Golden Eaglets. The three tacticians are expected to come with their backroom staff but they would work with those Nigerians sent to England for courses in the technical study. The coaches who are expected to commence work in July would be expected to develop templates for the three teams as well as train potential coaches that would handle the teams in future.

It was also reported that the NFF will outsource the payment of the three foreign coaches through Public Private Partnership (PPP) with words rife that the federation chiefs are keeping the names of their partners under wraps until the details are sealed with all those involved.

Shame?? Why shame? Nigerian coaches couldn't really prove their selves with the national teams they handled. They had the talents and players with great skill set, but no technical know-how and game plan for each game. That's why u see our boys and girls do the playing while the other teams just observe and score us when they want and game over! We need coaches who can read matches well, understand opponent weak areas and develop a strategy to exploit these weaknesses and hide ours.

I would like the NFF to hire a highly technical and tactical coach who has a penchant for youth development, rather big name prayers. They can also make our local coaches his understudy, so that in the nearest future we could have world class homegrown coaches!

Nice one. It is about time. Just look at our U20 team in the world cup, the team was good enough to go all the way to the final but it never happened thanks to Manu's technical ability and bad/ridiculous line-up.

NFF should go for the best, not any white dude.

Nice one.indegenous coaches seem to be technically & tactically deficient.they don't even have a template on how to go beyond their previous feat.
Re: NFF Goes For Foreign Coaches by Nobody: 10:52am On Jun 20, 2015
hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha. Mr Pinnick's tenure as NFF president is going to be a HORRID one.

Though i really like dis news, it's not good enough. Wat about the super eagles?? And the training shud be 4 all coaches. Not just d ones in the national youth teams and womens teams. And i hope the local coaches will be sacked

Personally, I don't see the point. We're still going to have a whack-ass team if they keep politicizing and zoning selection of players

Manu Garba has won an international tournament.

Keshi has won an international tournament.

I guarantee you that the foreign mercenaries that they hire will not have achieved as much yet people like you will somehow claim that they are better.

If this will bring about the change that we want in our football, so be it. Enough of early exit in international competitions.

It is the structure of Nigerian football that needs changing but if that happens the leeches in the NFF will lose out.

The NPL needs to be a completely private enterprise - run it as an efficient business and the cream will rise to the top. That will help with the development of the Nigerian players. It's foolish to think that it's a good idea to send so many young Nigerian players abroad where many do not get sufficient attention or playing time (such as Ihenacho).

Hmmmm! An avenue to squander money they said its not there. Are they not even reasoning at all? Apart from Westerhoof and Jo, which other foreign coach does well with Nigeria? Instead of them to send our local coaches on training to become a better coach, they want to look for already made coach that WILL not deliver a spoon not to talk of a cup.

The like of Siasia can be sent for training and upgrade for his achievement so far. Kai! I pity those illiterate governing Nigeria football o

Anyway, if they want to hire a coach, let them go for Mourinho, Pep Guadiola, Rafa Benitez or Pellegrini. It is then I will know they are serious. Yeye pheople

It's about time. My only issue is if there's a well laid-out plan on ground and how projects will be executed.

If not, it will still end up in sham and wasted funds

A girl does not know that the glorified PHE school masters we call coaches are no where near their foreign counterparts as regards the technicality of the modern game.
Do you need the many-faced-god to explain that

Re: NFF Goes For Foreign Coaches by engrjacuzzi: 12:56pm On Jun 20, 2015
NFF will never seize to amaze Nigerians with this issue of foreign coach.
if they need to get a world class coach with pedigree, will they be able to cough out £6m a year when we know that national team coach don't get involved to often just like the club side aspect. if the NFF is indeed serious, they should go for the best hands like jurgen klopp, José mourinho, Carlos ancelotti,.
if that is too high, then we have harve reina, big Sam allaydice, mark Hughes , Brendan Rodgers.

Did Keshi win the world Cup.... and as per Manu... Simon, Success, Nacho, Yahaya... all on the bench and you call that a coach... an international coach keeps his best four attacking players on the bench and uses Ehanoloo(I destroyed his name) throughout the tournament... guy explain that logic...
