Of course we would make it a Nigerian and African issue

The two major religion who talked about women submission were not even from African nor Nigerian origin

And I havent seen any culture where they dont talk about submission in marriages

ifyalways:
Submission = Respecting a husband that respects himself, wife and the vows he took with the wife. kiss

Upon meeting these conditions, I let him have the deciding vote in a stalemate situation.

MarvellousGod:
I think submission has to with giving in to one's husband. . Could be attributed to being loyal too. .

One thing many guys forget while screaming submission is that love and submission go hand in hand in marriage. . God even instructed husbands first to love their wives before He instructed wives to submit.

You don't treat a woman like trash and expect submission. . Submission will come naturally if you treat your wife like your own, infact she go dey adore you sef cheesy

The bold is very wrong!

Eph 5:24-25 says otherwise madam.

Topic: submission is a two way thing else its outright slavery.

I don't know what you mean.

People can submit to whom ever they want.

The question is what submission means, not who to submit to.
I meant that the original definition has that part in it, and you removed it - I asked why.

You know what? Never mind... wink

Is there supposed to be a different meaning from what the word really means?

Submission is yielding or surrendering oneself to the will or authority of another.

It is pretty much self explanatory, no need to twist anything.

submission is the main condition a woman must before even considering herself as a wife. if she is not willing to submit, she's not in a marriage. cool

It is generally accepted that in any sane marriage institution the wife is meant to be submissive to her husband. Wether Christian or Muslim or pagan, the wife has to be a good follower to enable the man lead properly or else chaos ensues.
Just as you can't have two drivers in a car, you can't have two leaders in a marriage. Even a team has a Team leader.

So what does it mean for a wife to be submissive? And where does one draw the line between submission and slavery? Is there any difference between the two?

My dear, it depends on how you define submission because as you can clearly see, it's subjective.

Lemme know how you define submission.cool

submission has a clear meaning....it's not subjective!

submission is a gift a woman chooses to give her husband. it's a free will, a decision she's made to be led him, to accept his authority and to be her hubby's helper whenever he needs aid.

Good, I like the way you defined it, you understand that it's the woman's place to decide, some men don't believe that.

No I wasn't pregnant but that was the kind of extreme example that gives the pro-submissives HBP.

Now I come to think of it what has cooking got to do with being a submissive wife . I direct this question to the OP
you are hale and hearty and in a usual loungue i assume watching telemmundo while your husband is weeping up a meal.frankly i have no issues cooking for my woman but why the hell then did you paint that picture for if it has nothing to do with it? Your first comment has no correlation with the topic mrs catwoman or rather there was no motivation for it.Ok we get it he is the one submitting his ass.and with a smile too .

it's just that men find it bizzare that a woman would marry a man without the intention of submitting to him. if she cannot submit, why marry him?

Mutual submission will not work for us. One week of my dominant displays and you're hooked for life. I will only submit to you in the sack I'm afraid. And every time you address me, you'll do so as "my lord".

Natural submission is even better. When she's been dicked down so well, she can only moan when you ask if she wants some water, the submission will flow with ease grin

I need to laugh please.grin if ever I have to address you as 'my lord' don't misinterpret it, I am your queen while at it, and queens are rulers too, you will do what I want sometimes, sometimes will be because you want to, sometimes just to make me happy even if you really don't agree with me, just like I will do for you.

That's the only way it will work for me.

if he truly loves you, he will have no problem doing the bolded bit of this sentence. the crux of the issue is when you & him have opposite opinion about an issue that has to be resolved instantly.

I guess it's because men make it seem like she doesn't have a choice, and if she tries to explain it to him, he thinks she's not "wifely" Plus these men also don't believe that, women should take important decisions, submission doesn't mean slavery.

two people cant submit to each other, cos d concept of d term submission means that there has to b a sort of fealty or allegiance to a dominant..so its either a lady submits to d man or d man submits to d lady..submitting to each doesnt make much sense and logic...in every institution, there shud always b a head who has d final say on decisions, though d person cud listen to other ideas and contribution, 2 people cant lead, and two people definitely cant submit to each other

no man desires to marry a dullard!
of course, we want women to take important decisions. men can't always be home every time & they need to be sure the woman they left at home is intelligent enough to make decisions that would secure lives & properties in the home.

it's not like men don't want women to take decisions. there would be decisions she would take that would also suit her hubby. the main issue is when hubby wants to take road A & wifey believes road B is safer & quicker. in this instance, wifey should let her hubby take the lead.

the only reason she chose to marry him out of the 500 toasters that asked her for marriage was because she saw him as an intelligent guy. if your suitor isn't more intelligent than you are then do not marry him cos you can never submit to his daft opinion. it's as simple as that.

I like you more and more.

I will have to answer as if this is just about me. If I find myself in that place, I have never been in this place where this was a problem, but I know that, the best would be for who knows better to make the call and a reasonable man/woman knows when to back down.

That's not true.

Unless you are speaking based on religion, then I don't know why submission can't be flexible.
