Yes, I did say I won't advice any one to go without having their complete tuition for the duration of their studies, and I will kEep advicing anyone I know.
Its an advice, so its not compulsory for anyone to heed to it.
Its something I keep saying based on what I've read on this thread, and experience of the few people I know in canada nw, it is possible but very very stressful and hard.
Everyone is entitiled to their opinion and I'll just keep mute about this particular topic.

But please I plead with the people advicing and encouraging pple to go without tuition, to add that's its very hard and tasking, so they don't think its easy.
The only problem I'm having hereis , encouraging pple to do something without letting them know how hard and challenging it is, its not fair to make pple think its easy to get a job and all.
When there are other bills to pay and rules to abide by.

What is even more baffling is that he is newly registered, has about 5 posts and hasnt made a cogent argument for going to CA without adequate funds in any of them, save the tedious 'rightly said' or 'word' that a simple 'like' could have helped with.

My conclusion is this person is most likely a thread member with a new moniker (Think Esther, Chrisviral's alter ego). That, or just a desperate ploy to get attention.

You completely missed the point! Don't go to Canada if you can't afford the fees and maintenance money to start with.

People are saying this in good faith and so that you don't make the same mistake others made and get stucked. Go home you can't because you can't afford the ticket or face the shame and stigma.

If you can afford to pay your fees and maintenance money at leas for a year then give it a go but leaving Nigeria with almost nothing and hoping to work and study to pay fees and bills is beyond madness.

Did you also read this ^^ part of my post?
AriseOCompatrot:

Chairman, I find it odd that you and Tinu are now jumping on Chrigo's post as if it is in consonance with what you guys said earlier. Tinu said categorically that people should not travel unless they have all the money complete. You (justwise) said anybody who travel without tuition and living expenses is PURE MADNESS. I even asked you if someone has 10k out of 15k tuition on a two year course, whether he should travel, you categorically said No! Your positions are at variance with that of Chrigo.
Jengetiele said people can travel with incomplete money and make a lot of money legally. Chrigo is disputing Jengetiele's claim as to how much people can make without breaking the law but Chrigo ended by affirming that people can make upto $10,000 a year legally by just working full time during the four months long break. In other words, Chrigo is saying that people can come with part money and work hard to make up the rest. Whether the stress of the work will tell on them or not was never the argument. It was whether or not they should venture out without complete tuition and living expenses.
And @justwise, I still dispute your claim that there is no other way of making money legally except through the 20 hours a week system or even the full time work during long breaks. If someone is gifted in designing websites or creating apps, whether or not the person is studying I.T. there, if that person works 20 hrs a week and can by the side use his software skills to design products that organizations there find useful, is that person engaging in illegality? If a lady who does accessories (beads and the likes) here in Nigeria, goes over there, takes up the 20 hrs a week offer, but on the sides is able to do beads she can sell to people of all races and creeds, is she breaking the law? If someone who writes scripts for Nollywood goes there and in spite of his course load and his 20hrs a week earnings, is able to sell a script for a short film to be aired during the toronto film festival, is he breaking the rules? Or someone studying engineering in Canny but in his spare time paints oil on canvass and sells as art work? I can go on and on but i'm sure you get my drift.
I am not in Canada yet so I am open to education from those who are there on whether the examples I have listed above are illegal. I have mentioned just four out of many other hands-on or intellectual gifts people can use to generate income outside of paid employment. My question is, would it be legal to do so? Let people knowledgeable and experienced with the Canadian system respond.
In any event, Chrigo, a well respected veteran of this thread, has swung the argument in favour of those who say that YOU DO NOT HAVE TO HAVE ALL TUITION AND LIVING EXPENSES COMPLETE before you apply to schools or for TRV or eventually travel.
Opposing views are still welcome

20yrs work limit is the same system in the UK, there is no difference, i went through the system, i worked the 20hrs and summer jobs to pay my way through education from undergraduate to masters. Whatever you do for money outside the 20hrs limit is illegal, web design, script writing etc, yes you may not be caught but when they do the law is clear.

And when you are caught the story will change to racism...they hate Nigerians bla bla bla

Yes you can have 3 jobs mostly 2-3 hrs cleaning jobs but at the end they all add up to 20hrs a week. During summer time you are free to work 24hrs round the clock but the truth is if you don't have at least one year of your school fees before coming these jobs can not pay your fees and living expense because you will be unable to save enough within that short period of time.

Again these jobs are not waiting for you to be picked up

I was just reading through and i saw....people arguing about the possibility of paying your fees and surviving without bringing enough money from Nigeria. Dearest brethren 90percent of Nigerians and Africans I have meet here are paying their fees themselves with no support from anywhere. I was so confused at first because the mentality I had from here was paying your fees or surviving without input from home(Tuition wise) all by yourself is next to impossible, well my experience here totally flawed all that. There is a way around it; as a matter of fact you wont have to get yourself involved in any form of illegality provided you can work hard....well you wont even need to be told by the time you see all your room mates taking up 2 to 3 jobs closing from one job to resume for another, and having so much in their account to maintain and comfortably pay their tuition, you self go blend quick quick. And as regards the 20 hours per week for international student.....(there is a way around this too) I dont want to share how when you enter you go understand. Its nothing illegal, all i can say about that is where there is a will there is a way.... I am not encouraging anyone to go against the law because rules are rules and they are meant to be obeyed and i will never go against any myself but the funniest thing is even if you go against the minimum hours rules here and you have reasonable explanations, you wont be bounced "reasonable explanations" I have meet uncountable numbers of international students majorly Africans that came to Canada with just few months house rent and they are doing very fine. You may be thinking it could affect their them from concentrating.....you see life is so flexible here.....very very flexible. To cut the long story short, it is very very very very possible infact over possible.

Brother, God bless you for this input. I have read all the arguement and was reluctant to contribute but I think I'll do that now. Please all concerned housemates, Do not Do not, Do not discourage anybody in whatever he/she has set out to achieve in life. We should be careful with the kind of advice we dish out here cos believe you me, you don't know who's reading silently n the impact your advice is having on them. If certain questions are thrown to the house for example the present discussed issue, IMO refer the person to his faith n belief, like it's been said if it's in your heart, pray about it, believe n it will come to your hands. Now back to the matter, some of my men that left this country 2yrs back with few months rent n 1 term tuition are bubbling in canny now doing very okay, the other one just finished paying up the loan he took from his brother who sponsored him to maple land n has bought his car. If he has listened to this kind of conversation n probably his morale was doused by what people had said, he would still be in this scotch sun of Nigeria regretting his ass n complaining, but i loved his spirit he said to me guy am processing my visa to canada n amongst all our friends you are the only one am confiding in, so keep it to yourself i dont need your advice and i dont want anyone to discourage me, this is my dream n I must achieve it. My guy's in d house if after suffering in this country (to those who has suffered o am not referring to those who had diamond spoon in their mouth when they are born) and you find yourself in canada n you are complaining that it's hard n it's impossible, nwanne am still looking for that word in the dictionary to qualify you o (no offense) but get my point n advice, if you are sleeping on a 100 inches Vita or mouka foam in naija, please the day your plane touches down on that land, the first thing to buy is UTE (MAT) cos sleep has gone. Guys are making it over there, paying their bills, does western union bimonthly and you are here telling me it's not possible. Nnaa nwanne enter ekenedilichukwu or young come house cos that thing from village. If you are igbo n you get to maple land n you are making or supporting this issue bros please go n sell your foam get mat cos it's not sleeping time, it's called hustling time. Remember western union, guys are not playing with it across the bridge na sure thing, men ga agba beer nu (men will drink beer 4 ur head now). My own input. My tinklee advice. It's not compulsory you adhere to it. Like i will always say n like I said when my moniker was attacked when i joined. Whatever it is you want in life, let it be done to you according to your faith.
