Not an artisan actually. It's a company, sort of one-man company with workers. The guy has not been able to fix the gear and money keeps going down the drain (got a new gear) and the most annoying thing is his attitude (posting - after paying, he will say he has another job and will come tomorrow...tomorrow after tomorrow).

I used roadside mechanics (artisans) for all my previous cars and they are the same.

One way to end your problem if you are in lagos is to visit AUTOMEDICS at LTV compound Agidingbi before your car burst into flame on speed. Mechanics sometimes are assholes. Always never allow ur mechanic fix anything behind your back, stay there with him, like am here right now on wheel balancing and alignment and am all eyes on them. Ask around from friends or colleagues using a Toyota. Dont underestimate WORD OF MOUTH.
My gen mechanic was introduced to me by my neighbour. I have continued to patronize him for the past 4 years.
My old mechanic didn't do Honda. My new car mechanic was introduced to me by a driver in my office. I have continued to patronize him for 3 years.

similar thing happened to my aunt...and as a smart guy, I advice her to change that leach called mechanic and problem solved.

C4 told me he got a call today, and all. I know there is no way he'd have meant what he said, don't know him to be like that and he's my best friend so I can somewhat vouch for him, though what he did was quite foolish, but then again like I said it was out of the frustration caused by you.

Eventually, I'm going to get my car fixed, "road side" or professional, you are not the only knowledgeable auto-technician in Lagos.

@coldplay007 I actually wouldn't recommend Gazzuzz to anybody, dude is quite petty. I had contacted him about my car, drove all the way from Surulere to Ogba on Saturday, he told me my engine would need to be replaced I heeded his counsel asked him to get me costing. On getting to His place today with plans of dropping off my car to return tomorrow for us to go get an Engine, dude started catching feelings, telling me "I should go look for a roadside mechanic who I will follow to the market to buy parts" for crying out loud we are talking of Engine replacement why shouldn't I be involved in the procurement process, even if I'm coming as a silent observer. Gazzuzz bluntly told me I should go back with my vehicle, just because I asked to go pick up my Engine with him. Saying I was disappointed is a huge understatement. Nonetheless I'm glad it happened at this point, not when I have invested my scarce resources and he starts to bring up shitty attitude. Same way I trusted my car to Qualityovenbake on Nairaland and he did a messed up job, coupled with the fact that he was way behind schedule.

Sorry for what transpired with him but guess that there must've been something else to it.

Land Rover products are very expensive to maintain and very sensitive to little issues. I treat them like babies and these days, servicing and repairs are done in my compound these days or at coscharis while I watch every bit of it. I no wan hear stories that touch.

Try baba sukura the great mechanic and u ever be convinced. Trustworthy 95%. I av tested him a 100 and 1 times and I was proofed wrong. He knows wat need to be done once make a complain. His charge are minimal and works excellently.

In the UK..the customer is a god...be you a ten Pounds owner, or a thousand Pounds owner
You will get a royal treatment
Even if you walked into a service shop, or a sales shop...you would get a test run...and this is regardless of whether you finally patronise them, or not

Sadly, this attitude is seriously lacking in Nigeria
You may be left standing or even insulted with your paltry money because someone with better money comes around
And they expect you to lick unmentionable places just because they want to do a job for you, a job you will pay for !!!

I told my mechanic last year that I was going to buy a 2003 corolla but the guy advised me against buying the ride. His reasons were that the car is not so strong coupled with the fact that the parts are expensive. Anyway I didn't listen to him as I went ahead and bought it having studied the car very well.
I have used the car for more that a year, going to two and now understands why mechanics will not advise you to buy it. Apart from normal servicing, I have never visited the mechanic for any other fault. The other day I saw my mechanic and he was lamenting that he has not seen me this year, 'abi you wan make hunger kill me' Who is ever happy visiting a mechanic, doctor or police.
The miles per gallon of the corolla is very much okay and I must say that it is the best car I have ever used.
