Israeli firm to train Akwa Ibom indigenes in automobile manufacturing

Itu (Akwa Ibom), July 14, 2015 (NAN) An Israeli automobile manufacturing company, MIMSHAC Merkavim Transportation Technologies Plant, said it would train no fewer than 20 Akwa Ibom indigenes in automobile manufacturing.
Mr Ronen Golan, International Business Development Adviser of the company, disclosed this in Itu on Tuesday during the ground-breaking ceremony marking the establishment of the plant in the state.
Golan disclosed that his company was a leading automobile assembling firm with specialty in the production of luxury buses, utility vehicles, ambulances and fire trucks.
He said that apart from training indigenes in automobile manufacturing, the company would create job opportunities for the people, build schools and bring international investors to the state.
Golan thanked the state governor, Mr Udom Emmanuel, for accepting that the plant should be established in the state.
He assured that the company would partner the government to make the state an industrial haven ‘’and bring Jewish blessings to the state’’.
Performing the ground-breaking ceremony, Gov. Emmanuel said that the coming of the establishment of the plant was an evidence of his commitment to attracting Foreign Direct Investments (FDI) to the state.
He promised to partner the Israeli automobile industry to bring opportunities for the industrialization of the state.
According to him, industrialization is the cornerstone to wealth creation and sustainable development of the state.
The governor said that the state was endowed with abundant resources, which would be harnessed for industrial use.
He announced plans by his administration to establish a clay refining plant in Itu area to make use of the natural resources in the environment.
Paramount ruler of Itu, Edidem Edet Inyang, assured the company of conducive environment for its operations.
Inyang commended the state government for commencing its industrial revolution policy of in his domain. (NAN)

If one is looking for a state that the Governor has hit the ground running, you need not look further than Akwa-Ibom State. Governor Udom Emmanuel has wasted no time in taking steps to ensure that his campaign promise of rapid industrialization is pursued with vigour.
Just a few weeks after the announcement of a Technical Committee on Foreign Direct Investment, Governor Udom has officially inaugurated the Committee which has Mr. Gabriel Ukpeh as Chairman.
It may be recalled that in a statement by Chief Press Secretary, Mr Ekerete Udoh, Governor Udom Emmanuel had announced the formation of the 11-member Technical Committee to boost and manage Foreign Direct Investment for the state.
The statement said the Committee is expected to devise modalities to open up the state for investors as part of efforts to fulfil the Governor’s electioneering promises.
Apart from the Chairman, other members announced were Mr Offong Ambah, Dr Elijah Akpan, Mr Ini Urua, Mr. Larry Esin, Mr Akan Udofia, Mr. Larry Esin, Mr Andrew Jason, Mr Udeme Ufot, Mrs Offiong (Fifi) Ejindu and Emmanuel Enoidem (Commissioner of Investment, Commerce & Industry).

Also yesterday at the Executive Chambers of the Governor’s Office, the Governor also inaugurated the Technical Committee on Agriculture and Food Sufficiency, which has Prof. Edet Udo as Chairman.
