Gaboon viper

The snake does not have an antenna, something was tiled to the missing head.
Plz, if u see this snake anyway, don't forget to run. It is highly venomous.
It is also called a forest puff adder....

GABOON VIPER YOU CAN SEE THEM IN WEST AFRICA, WHILE THE ADDER YOU CANT SEE THEM IN AFRICA.

DO YOU KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT SPECIES undecided

I SAID IT IS HARM LESS BECAUSE IT IS A PYTHON.
GEEZZ, YOU PEOPLE ARE LESS EDUCATED ABOUT ANIMAL.

Across the globe around 100,000 people die of snake bites every year and another 250,000 are permanently disabled. Even though snakes are considered as dangerous reptiles, there are a large number of non- venomous snakes around the world which are of negligible harm to humans. Most of the snakes are shiny, elegant and beautiful. These creatures with no legs and flickering tongue play a vital role in natural environment and food webs. Snakes have highly-developed senses of sight, taste, hearing, and touch, which make these cold blooded creatures effective hunters and ambush predators. Conservation of snakes is crucial to maintain balance in the food web.

Most of the world’s snakes are what are referred to as clinically non-venomous. This means they do not produce a toxin that is clinically significant to people. However, many harmless-to-humans snakes, like Hognose snakes, Garter snakes and Rat snakes for example, do produce toxins that are scientifically or technically venomous.

Boas, pythons, bullsnakes and kingsnakes are examples of truly non-venomous snake species.

A full grown Burmese or reticulated python would gladly have you for lunch. grin

A full grown burmese wouldn't be able to survive in the city so it's fine.

Plus this is Naija not Burma.

thank you for the insight. We have to learn more about animals, instead of just killing them up and down.

The dodo bird became extinct as a result of human activities, by just killing them because them can't fly, and a easy source of food.

This is a python not a deadly snake. It's actually friendly if we don't attack it.

Please Nigerians learn how to differentiate between species of animals.

This snake doesn't have a venom, but if on self defence it can bite you. But it's bite is not dangerous.

In fact, to buttress your claim, baby python like the one op killed doesn't get aggressive AT ALL because their sense of defense mechanism is still ZERO until after 16weeks. That snake can't kill a rat yet, talkless of human. I could have captured it and donate to my Alma Mata and name it's cage after my name, department and matric number, just a token in donation will be required to feed it in a year.

Massive deforestation pushing 'em species closer to our doorsteps. Sometimes I wish we had conservation structures in place. You see a snake, alligator, iguana, etc close to home, you call a number and some pros come, capture it and take it away.

I hope our grandkids won't have to go to the zoo to see lizards, grasshoppers and wall geckos.
