Good afternoon. I was searching the net to find a way of resolving the challenge I notice this morning on my car when I stumbled on your previous mail-thread and how you have helped Nairalanders. On my way to work this morning, I noticed that the drive light "grin" of the car (Honda Pilot 2003) started blinking on its own. I parked the car, off the engine and restarted, then the blinking stopped. However, please confirm if it has to do with transmission fluid and kindly advise me on where and how I can get the right one for the car (Honda Pilot 2003) I live in Lagos. Thank you. (my email address is aydought@yahoo.com)

Scan the gear...it happened to my Honda odessey and the 3Rd pressure switch was the culprit...changed it and the gear has been running fine.

Matik J or Pureguard Dexron 6 only. Pour out any seahorse product into the sea. It will find its way back to Turkey. It is like infecting your car with HIV.

For the transmission fluid, you should use WS, world Standard which is very compatible with Pureguard. The same pureguard is also ideal for your power steering. Use DOT 4 brake oil for your brake system and the engine oil recommended is 5w20 or 0w20. A client of mine imported Penzoil to service his Acura TL because that oil has the characteristics of exceeding 50 degrees centigrade. But since you cant get that here, buy Forte oil 5w40 or Honeywell 5w 40. You can get all these products locally and except for the engine oil, we have all these products and more.

THANKS SO MUCH FOR YOUR RESPONSE.....MY CAR'S BRAKE FLUID'S COMPARTMENT STRICTLY RECOMMENDS THE USE OF ONLY DOT 3 BRAKE FLUID(WRITTEN ON THE COVER) WHEN I CHECKED IT YESTERDAY......HOPE I CAN GET DOT 3 IN NIGERIA.
AS FOR THE ENGINE OIL & ATF, I WILL GET THE ONES U JUST RECOMMENDED BUT CAN'T I GET 5W20 or 5W30 or 0W20 or even 5W40 FROM ANY MOBIL OUTLET IN NIGERIA?? ALSO, WHAT IF I USE TOYOTA T-IV ATF, WOULD IT AFFECT MY GEAR BOX NEGATIVELY....??
Re: Transmission Fluids, Getting The Right One For Your Vehicle by sooperrescue(m): 11:44pm On Jun 22, 2015
Using Typ T-1v will not have any negative impact on your gear but please follow the recommendation of the manufacturer. They know why they created WS for their new cars. Mobil has 0w40 in Nigeria but if you want other brands, there are other brands like Total Q9000, Forte Syn and Honeywell Syn, these are all 5w40 and they are all available in Nigeria

Good morning and thanks for your good job. I drive a Nissan Xterra 2002 model and noticed recently that in the mornings, the gear does not pick immediately, I have to allow the engine run for about 5 mins and thereafter, everything works perfectly. A scan on the transmission says no code but my technician advices I service my transmission. Pls, what ATF do you advice I use, looked at the Nissan Matic D, quite expensive, can you advice an alternative or must I stick to the Matic D?
Thanks
Re: Transmission Fluids, Getting The Right One For Your Vehicle by sooperrescue(m): 5:14pm On Jul 06, 2015
Stick to Matic D or you will have to buy a used gear box and then use the matic D you dont want to buy now

hi SooperRescue
i just got a used automatic nissan altima 2.5SL 2002 model. The mileage is about 140k+ and its showing service engine light.
Also the on engaging the reverse, you can hear a audible thud and a slight shudder of the car. The mechanic first thought it has to do with the engine seat but later says its the gear box. Another issue is the car seems heavy to move and sometimes the transmission from 1 is dull, as in it doesnt pick on time even if i throttle. The car just seems to trudge on and I have to throttle light in these situations.
My mechanic put Mobil ATF Dextron II in the ttansmission and I am quite skeptical.
I would like you to kindly assist with a likely diagnosis for these problems and also inform me of the best tranny fluid, steering fluid and engine oil to use. May God continue to bless you. Thanks sir

Amen. Please flush out that oil immediately. You are supposed to use Matic D Nissan and other alternatives like our Pureguard which is synthetic global transmission fluid. If you cant find Matic D, get in touch so that we can get you Pureguard. The automobile world has gone synthetic now, so no need dwelling in the past. Oando Syn is out now and you can use it as the Engine oil for your car. For power steering, use Oando Dex 111. Dont use seahorse and abro and other fluids. Throw them into the sea. It is better that there is oil pollution with these brands of ATF than crude oil. Pour them into the sea, the fishes will understand
