I think so, during the slave trade yorubas amongst other Nigerians found themselves in South and Latin America and they continued their religious practices there. So you have Orisa and other yoruba gods in Cuba, brazil etc.

They are part of the Idita, one of the original families Oduduwa met in Ife. As an Ooni owns no land, Idita family land starts from Mokuro junction opposite Moore police station to As far as Ife boundary with Ilesa.

@ 9jacrip, can you please shed more light on the part in bold? If this your assertion is true, does it support the historical narrative held by some people that the Ooni lineage are actually slaves and not biological descendants of Oduduwa?

No.
I, like me fellow Isese folks, worship the creator of everything natual.

Jesus was human, Muhammed was human.

We do not worship Obatala or any deity, we follow the path they towed and propitiate them. Every prayer starts with Olodumare and ends with Ase Olodumare. Every human is cut off.

There is an obatala shrine in Obalufon Street, Ile-Ife.

from ur explanation of things I can see that u have d tru knowledge of Yoruba not myth.
my question is did oduduwa migrate from somewhere or he his born in Yoruba land. cos we have so many conspiracy theory, some saying na golden chain he use some sed he came from mecca some sed na hin papa okanbi.

No migration from anywhere.
Consider language barrier and culture clash, humans have not had much cultural or lingual exchanges at this time.

Oduduwa was from one of the several hamlets in Ife.

Else, how was he able to create aliuances with the likes of Obameri who became his general among many other living folks of that period who became deified?

I am yet to understand what the chain means but all stories point to a chain so maybe he indeed had a chain - what it means and what it was for is what I don't know.

Possibly a house or shrine set up by one of the chiefs.

The only Obatala shrine is at Ile Olorisa@ Igbo Itapa.

Yes. Supervised building construction for someone at Mokuro(Behind Hammelda Estate) in 2009. Born and raised at Ife. I Love Ile-Ife.

After Oranmiyan ascended the throne, his lineage took over.

So the ruling houses of

Ogboru
Giesi
Lafogido
Osinkola

Where Oonis after Oranmiyan have come from are all descendant of Oranmiyan through Lajamisan his son.

Keep in mind each hamlet in Ife was by the family with its head. The family owned the land of each hamlet no matter how wide or small and the head controlled it.

Oduduwa only merged the hamlets into one, he did not control them. The heads controlled their hamlets.

His offsprings all moved out from 'ita ajero' in Ife to found or join into different towns we have today. Also keep in mind Oranmiyan who continued his father's rule did not have any land allocated to him in Ife or beyond.

The Ora people run the General/Opa/Ora area of Ife.

The Idita run Igbo Itapa and Mokuro

The Araba control the Enuwa environs.

The list goes on.

I think you should stop reasoning with the burnt side of your brain. When u move outside Nigeria, to other parts of Africa and South America, you'll realise how beautiful and highly regarded our culture is. I'm not saying any religion is the true religion, however, we need to respect our own culture and traditions. We don't have to depend on imported ideologies. All progressive society guard their culture judiciously but here in Nigeria, some Eediot like you ignore them.

Obatala the human ruler is different from Obatala the spirit being in Yoruba belief system. Yoruba history carries with it two aspects, the actual events surrounding the character backed up in verifiable proofs in our surroundings and the mystery intended to show the supernatural powers, ranking, strength etc of a deity.

Both sides for every character are present in Ifa but most people ignore the details of real life occurences because the mythical/spiritual is given by Ifa and used by the Babalawo to explain and solve problems.

Thanks for this exposure 9jacrip. I have been trying to understand the difference between both for a while.
Also, Is it true that the natives of Ifon-Orolu in Osun state are descendants of Obatala.

Sir, it is high time you widened your lexicon. Sacrifices or IPESEs do not necessarily include human beings this belief is what makes the cultural practice profane. Your problem is, you find it difficult to accept that there is a difference between culture / tradition and handiwork. stop being ignorant, seek knowledge, it helps.
