surely this is basic common sense

A filling station is restricted to a named brand whilst a depot could easily be supplying multi brands and thus creating a far reaching multiplier effect.

Pay more attention instead of writing epistles that lack depth all over the place

You did not answer my question.

I asked....

What is the essence of a depot without a filling station, and what is the essence of a filling station without a depot?

Pay more heed to my question instead of writing posts filled with such bitterness and bile.

The Depot cannot function without the petrol station and vice versa.
One should not play oblivious to the fact that when sanctions are meted, be it on the Petrol station or Depot, corrections take place.

Much like cutting weeds in the stem rather than uprooting. Those were DPR actions under Jonathan. Get it?

School me please.
No one is above learning.
Filling stations have nothing to do with the subsidy fraud but depots do.

Well, the way I see it, I think the DPR goes after whoever is found defaulting.
In Jonathan's time, it was largely the filling stations.

Good for them, if true.
It's about time.

btw, the DPR seems to have been effectively carrying out their duties, long before Buhari won the elections.

They have taken the fight to the centre, instead of wasting time and resources shutting stations.
Whether it is upstream, downstream, gas or laboratory sector that is found defaulting, they surely dance to the music.

So why making it seem like it's a novelty by saying

Can we now agree for once that the promised cosmetic change is a farce?
Isn't it becoming glaring that transformational change is the real deal?
Rid yourself of hatred. GEJ is history and the earlier you get over it the better.

Just a friendly advice o.

I obviously didn't see the point in your inconsequential question when it was clear from the onset according to the report that their approach was a two pronged one. They attacked the source since most marketers kept complaining the unauthorized depot's price was the sole reason for their hike since they have to make profit after factoring the extra cost of transportation.

This is not about comparison or not.

The point here is that the DPR takes its duties seriously and dishes out disciplinary actions to whoever is in the wrong, be it depot, petrol station, upstream or downstream sector.

Once again, kudos to the DPR.
Why did it not occur in the past where DPR sealed depots?

Something is amazing here......I thought the likes of MOMAN and other PMS Import Associations would have embarked to strike, holding economy to hostages considering this clamp down, as witnessed under GEJ administration.

How come the subsidy payments to oil importers disappear from our national news?

PMB is slow indeed

Are you saying that for every time that we experienced price hike and artificial scarcity, that the depots were to blame?

That the filling stations have never been guilty of inflation and working at par with their depot counterparts?

Impressive! Going to the source of the problem will alleviate the scams that prowl the oil and gas sector not only to the gas stations. How will you claim payments for subsidy and still retail at unapproved price. This clampdown shouldn't be initial gragra. It should continue until subsidy is removed. Sanity gradually returning to the system. #God save Nigeria

Yes they do and we should applaud every single effort these departments embark on in alleviating some of the pain the citizens are feeling.

fuel prices have a direct impact on food prices and as such extremely important that it gets regulated so we don't keep feeling the pinch. They (the politicians) can't continue to be fvcking us from all angles

We should try and get away from the insane continuous comparisons between GEJ and Buhari

smh.
Aren't the petrol stations affiliated to the depots?
What good is an Oando Depot if there is no Oando filling station to buy its product?

Have you bothered to know why they were shut @filling stations?

In the past, it was because they either hoarded fuel or sold at abysymally high price.

This time, DPR went for the depots' jugular because they were selling at an unapproved price.
Tomorrow, it might be the petrol stations.
What we should be happy about is that the DPR are seemingly effective.

The reason I think "they" get nervy is because your ilk are quick to ascribe everything to Mr Buhari.
It irks to know that the policies or legacies for which the media is so quick to praise this government for (especially Buhari) are the same things that Jonathan achieved without so much pomp and pageantry.....yet, he is hated and treated with so much scorn and indignity.

Even as news filters in daily, that there is no TANGIBLE achievement which this government can lay claim to that doesn't have a large imprint of the past regime written on it.

I hope you can now understand why most people will always be psychologically defensive/offensive.....at least until this government begins to deliver on the promised change (in other words, setting precedents like never before).

Why am I so pissed reading thru your comments? Our brother GEJ was a disappointment. A govt marked with massive fraud and corruption in high places yet our ppl still support him because he is "our blooder".

At least now GEJ is out and no amount of wailing will bring him back. The least we can do is to support this new govt. Haven said that, you and I know this would and can NEVER happen during GEJ.

Sit back and relax, and watch as things get better

Give it up!

The report clearly stated that the depots were selling at higher price above govt regulated prices to filling stations despite claiming subsidy for same. Nigerians have long known of existence of this practice but DPR couldn't go after those depots because of their connection with high powers.

Now that a no-nonsense Sheriff is in town, no one is above the law; hence, you see this type of development. It's completely different from what you spewed in your post.

Close mindedness and illogical conclusions are not good attributes to adopt. Think across boards and give credit to those who clearly deserve it, or just maintain the golden silence if your ego dictates otherwise. That's the only way to get or maintain an iota of credibility as a critic.

Don't tell me you're not accorded some stipends for all these absurdities...cos it's debilitating.

Of course the filling stations have been involved in the shady deal. But you cannot solve the problems by going after the filling stations without solving it from the root, the depots who sell at higher prices to them. It easier for filling stations to sell @ even N120 if they can prove that they but at even slightly higher than govt regulated price like N80 instead of N77.
