How many Yoruba youths do you hear making noise about June 12? Besides, June 12 wasn't a Yoruba thing, it was a Nigerian thing...a Democracy thing. And about the killing of 2 million people, it was a fuccking war, what did you expect? It is not like Nigerian soldiers weren't killed as well. You guys make it seem like your people were just sitting by themselves, minding their business, and Nigerian soldiers went and started killing them. It was a war, and they were the casualties of war, PERIOD!
june 12 was majorly a Yoruba thing as all other tribes left the Yorubas to carry their cross alone, the igbos ran away from Lagos and everywhere they were leaving in the south west saying now the Yorubas most fight their own civil war; that I will never forget because your people left Lagos and the south west in very large numbers, it was like an exodus. So stop lying behind your teeth.

I still believe that hate statement was carefully made to help the PDP win lagos. He is Jimi's kinsman and we all know how the support for PDP surged after whole fiasco. PDP just manipulated a whole tribe and they fell it.

Nothing tangible will come out this investigation cos the truth will cripple the whole case.

Get a life! Isn't it a Yoruba man that God used to make Jonathan a ijaw man the first vice President from a minority tribe? Ain't it also the Yorubas that protected that Jonathan be made President when yaradua died and the North didn't want him to be President? The Yoruba used mass media, protested on the streets of Lagos and abuja; in some cases they were tear gassed, where were the igbos, the ijaws and other minority groups then? What did the Yorubas get in return from Jonathan and his tribe? Insults! He even went to the east after he won his first election, that's about 2 years after he was sworn in as president after yaradua's death, in the east he was shouting at the top of his voice that they the Igbos are the pillars of his administration. That's were he missed it and this led to him losing the 2nd term, his none performance inclusive.

It was late Dora Akunyili with her memo that triggered off what made Jonathan succeed late Yar'Adua.

Remember after her memo, the Attorney General that was covering up the absence of government in Nigeria then got sacked by Jonathan.

When asked who sacked the Attorney General, Akunyili said it was Jonathan because according to her, Jonathan was constitutionally empowered to sack all of them employed by Yar'Adua since the country was running for months without a president.
That began the Jonathan era as president.

So please stop your false claim.

Of course Lagos preceded oil but it was NOT the mega city that it has become. Today Lagos is probably the biggest city in all of AFRICA. We are all very proud of Lagos. Trying to exclude anybody is courting disaster and problems.

Lagos grew to Mega City status because of Nigerian oil resources and because it was Nigeria's capital. Just Like Abuja has grown because of Nigerian oil resources and because it is Nigeria's capital.
That is a lie! Lagos became a mega city due to industrialisation and its people being accommodative.

Oba Akiolu's threat must have intimidated tens of thousands of people into not exercising their God given democratic right to vote, which was probably why the Oba's governorship candidate won.

ICC needs to take this case seriously

This petition now serves as a check on the oba and his Yoruba brethren. As it stands now, no violence has been carried out against Ndigbo post Oba's comment. Now, should any Yoruba group attack the Igbos for reasons of the tension that has built up or any other reason for that matter, we can always link it to the Oba's threat and then take it from there. As it stands now, Oba himself will do anything within hos powers to see that the Igbos are not attacked else he ends up being a room mate to Charles Taylor.

He should be treated like Foday Sankoh after capture. .

You keep making false claim! Which memo are you talking about? Did you know how many time falana etc got into problem with the police while protesting? Please stop all these Lies! Even Edwin Clark was calling falana when he & others were protesting in abuja to thank him and falana asked him '" Edwin Clark and others why are they not joining them", Edwin Clark replied " he is our son and if we join you it will bring trouble ", the news papers are there to support my fact, even Tinubu and several other Yoruba leader protested and wrote the national Assembly. What weight do dora carry then? How long did it take jonathan to be sworn in as president? How will a memo change the intent of the North who say another Northerner should replace Yaradua? Please get you facts right and stop misleading people.

I'm sorry if that is the vibe I'm giving off. Of course I never used to comment of threads of this nature, but it gets to a point where some of these things just annoy you so much you almost lose your mind. Imagine people now equate being a staunch APC supporter to being a muslim and someone who hates Igbos!! How does one fold his hand and see himself painted in such manner??

No one has summoned the attention of Ishilove to threads on tribal bashing than myself (I believe she can attest to that) and it didn't manner whether it was Igbos taking it out on Yorubas or vice versa, but at some point I simply gave up on doing so because as you take down one of such threads, five more are created!!! Just take a look at this board and see it has now been transformed into nothing but a tribal, ethnic and secessionist board rather than what it was meant for- politics.

You are right I might have been sounding a little off key lately, I'd admit my fault, but I certainly don't wish any ethnic group "in general" harm. For what its worth, these faultlines are being accentuated by politicians just to divide us, preserve our loyalty, and consolidate their influence over state affairs.

I'd take a step back in the hope I don't become completely consumed by the hate that has taken over this board lately.

Help yourself by avoiding Nnamdi Kanu and Biafra else you will find yourself losing your blood pressure to HIGH!

As usual, Subjective people may not like the truth but the protest lead to Obasanjo a Yoruba man becoming President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. NADECO, AFENIFERE etc stood their ground, though some like kudirat, pa afread rewane who is an ishekiri( cousins to Yoruba tribe ) got killed but they got a Yoruba as President.

Let me still remind you of how your Balogun a.k.a Field Marshall, MKO Abiola, was whisked away like a common thief. Yorubas started trouble they cannot finish in using 'June 12' with their Odua Islamic Republic of Ritual-killers in mind and were expecting Igbos to fight their wars. Ralph Obioha and Bobo Nwosisi were the only people around their AareOnaKakanfo MKO Abiola. He was eventually slaughtered like a salah ram. All your gra-gra in 1993 did not even last two days.

Exactly what FG action built Lagos?

Lagos as the FC was limited to Lagos Island only and the FG picked Lagos because Lagos was already developed way before Oil.

People moved to Lagos for economic reasons because one Yoruba man named Obafemi Awolowo before the existence of Nigeria built industrial estates from Ikeja industrial estate to Apapa industrial, Matori and Ilupeju estates, Oodua group of companies and these investments are still produces a great chunk of Nigeria's goods and services. This is why people move to Lagos before and after oil

Saying oil is responsible for anything in Lagos is like saying people moved to Lagos to trade in oil or to get oil jobs. That sounds very rettarded..

Exactly what did the FG did while in Lagos? They built 2 bridges and a Federal secretariat that they neglected and let rot and decay.

They built bridges in other parts of the country so what did they do in Lagos.

In fact let me ask you a question.

What and who was feeding the whole of Nigeria before oil? Niger Delta?

You villagers need to learn your country's history and quit spewing ignorant and unintelligent rubbish on NL.

He is your son, but without the critical contribution of others (infusion of Nigerian resources and federal capital designation) he will not be a world renowned doctor (mega city Lagos). Lagos is Nigerian land- Nigeria's former capital and was built with Nigerian oil resources. The international airport (Murtala Muhammad Airport and deep sea ports) gave Lagos big advantages.

Lagos belongs to everybody - Yoruba, Igbo and Hausa and others included. So go tell a Hausa land owner or Igbo land owner that bought the property with their hard earned money and sweat and tears that the land is not theirs.

People (including the Oba of Lagos) need to be more guarded in their comments. But it is also clear that the Oba of Lagos in the heat of election cycle mispoke.
Your iboland cant develop beyond you because you dont sell land to non-igbo but lease. Let see what happen all your properties in Lagos after you biafra succeded.

Do you clowns and cowards know who stayed in Lagos to defend Lagos? Lagosians/Yoruba people, the real owners.

When Hausa people slaughtered over 60,000 ibo people up north exactly what did you do? You stayed and fight? No, you formed the same exodus like cowards and ran back to your villages?

Here is the opinion of a Yoruba man - Senator Adeseye Ogunlewe:

Sincere9gerian:
** Igbos In Lagos State: My Experience, By Senator Adeseye Ogunlewe

Lagos State belongs as much to the ethnic Igbo as to the Yoruba, Ijaw, Hausa, Fulani, Efik, Idoma, Urhobo, Itshekiri, Edo, and so on who live in it, pay tax, identify with it, and settle in it. That compact was made the moment Nigeria became a single nation, and a successor power to the old principalities who were subdued and who ceded their sovereignty for the new commonwealth of Nigeria .
It was pragmatic. The Igbo had the skill and the industry, and Lagos was the seat of the Federal Government of Nigeria and its major port.

The Igbo have lived in Lagos since the 15th century when the Aro and other Igbo first settledin good number in a place we nowcall “Oyingbo” in the era of Benin and the Portuguese trade.

The arrival of Dr. Namdi Azikiwe to Lagos in 1937 from Accra after his studies in the United States, stimulated the political and cultural environment of Lagos as no other has before or after him. Zik literally resurrected the wizard of Kirsten hall from political death. Zik represented Lagos in the western house. The NCNC was the power in Lagos , and not the Action Group. The Igbo were prominent in the governance of Lagos in the Lagos City Hall.

The institutional development of Lagos – the railways, the ports andship yards; the education and research facilities; the Banking and Commodities Exchange, the development of towns like Yaba, Surulere, Ebutta-Metta, Festac Town, Victoria Island, and now increasing the Ajah-Lekki axis, and of course, the ghettoes along the Orile-Badagry axis, have profound Igbo imprimatur.

The circulation of the image of Lagos is to date best reflected in the cosmopolitan Igbo imagination of one of the greatest African writers of the 20th century, Cyprian Ekwensi, a thorough Lagosian if there was any. Igbo have built industries in Lagos and have been drivers of commerce and exchange.

Interestingly, I was born at plot number 8, Okoya Street , Idumagbo- Lagos, while the Ojukwu families were residing at number one to three on the same street. I grew up to know the father of Odumegwu Ojukwu. Chimbizie and Azuka grew up withus on the same street. Even the Chibeze small parking space at the end of Okoya Street is called Ojukwu. I later attended St. Patrick Primary School , Idumagbo, where I had very amiable classmates of Igbo origin in the persons of Azubike Ezenwa and Damian, Ihekuna, both now professors and doctors of today. They were brilliant, resourceful and friendly.

When we were playing bamboo and Tene Felele at Orikoriko at Onola playing ground, the Igbo participated actively. In the area of sports, school football and athletes, Igbo were dominant at Kings College, St. Gregory school, St. Finbars, Akoka, Igbobi College and Ahmadiyya College, Agege. Such boys, Njokwu, George Amu, Stephen Keshi, Henry Nwosu, Patrick Noquapor, Peter Anieke and Sammy Opone were dominant on the field of football, while Asiodu, Empire Kanu were prominent on the field of athletics.

Anytime we went to watch football match at Onikan stadium, my darling team, Stationery Stores and our adversary team I hated most was the E. C. N, where the centre forward, Paul Hamilton, the National Team, Fabian the captain who bit the dust. Our greatest captain was Duru, Oduah Onyenrekwa, Onyeador Onyeali and Opel, the greatest outside right Nigeria ever had, Cyril Azuluka.

So, during my early life at primary school, the Igbo were always there and delightful to watch, both in athletes and on the football field.

When I listened to radio at that time, both the commentary and drama series, the Igbo were there for you. The likes of Chris Ndaguba, Ernest Okwonkwo, Ralph Okpara ‘Alawo Sekiseki the traveler’. The episode will end with – The script was written by Ralph Okpara and edited by Yemi Lijadu.

Anytime I visited where I was born today in Idumagbo at Lagos Island, the entire place is covered by Igbo traders in their thousands. They were never troublesome but decent and accommodating. They have virtually taken over all properties of the indigenes. They succeeded in developing all our properties, married to most of our children even from the royal families. There is no single house you will visit without an Igbo man selling wares there.

So, who is saying something else? Only the strangers in our midst will not notice participation of economic development in our state by the Igbos. Most houses and shops in Lagos Island have been purchased, developed and occupied by the Igbos. The value of their investments in Lagos Island alone is in trillions of naira.

Instead of deporting the Igbos, whose contributions to the development of Lagos state are immensurable, you must keep on praising and encouraging them to keep on developing Lagos State.

•Senator Adeseye Ogunlewe is a former Nigerian minister for Works and Housing.

Is Sanusi Lamido Sanusi an Igbo man? This is what he has for you foul mouthed noisemakers and bigots:

YORUBAS ARE THE PROBLEM WITH NIGERIA - By Sanusi Lamido

In sum, the Yoruba political leadership, as mentioned by Balarabe Musa, has shown itself over the years to be incapable of rising above narrow tribal interests and reciprocating goodwill from other sections of the country by treating other groups with respect. Practically every crisis in Nigeria since independence has its roots in this attitude.

   * The Yoruba elite and area-boy politics;
    * Igbo marginalisation and the responsible limits of retribution; and
    * The Yoruba Factor and "Area-boy" Politics.

My views on the Yoruba political leadership have been thoroughly articulated in some of my writings, prime among which was " Afenifere: Syllabus of Errors" published by This Day (The Sunday Newspaper) on Sept 27, 1998. There was also an earlier publication in the weekly Trust entitled " The Igbo, the Yoruba and History" (Aug. 21, 1998)..

Being Excerpts from A Paper Presented At The “National Conference On The 1999 Constitution” Jointly Organised By The Network For Justice And The Vision Trust Foundation, At The Arewa House, Kaduna From 11th –12th September, 1999.

Here a yoruba woman gives account of the deceit, lies, wickedness and laziness of yoruba men.

Don't marry a Yoruba man
says abiodun kuforiji-nkwocha

I am going to offend people with this one I just know it! Saying the truth is never easy so here goes... (if you do not have a sense of humour please stop here.)

"If you have not married an Igbo man, then you are not yet married" :

There I have said it. I feel so much better now.

So, my Yoruba brothers have been getting a bad rap on social media. I usually do not get into discussions like that because I am too busy thanking God I did not marry a Yoruba man.

I am a Yoruba girl from Ogun State and my father was the exception from the norm. My brothers... I will just say that you can fall for them at your own peril.

I am proud of the tribe I belong to. I love how cerebral we are, I love how progressive and fun loving it is to be Yoruba. So saying anything negative should not be seen as coming from a bad place, it is just so that these our lover boys will change a lirrle bit.

Yoruba boys bad gan!!!

Has a Yoruba boy used sweet mouth to scatter your destiny before? For some lucky girls it may have been temporary confusion but when your mother's prayers got you out of there, you vowed never to go back and to preach the gospel against the mgbati bobos. So many women are not so lucky, they are in the trap and there is no turning back.

When a Yoruba boy means to get you, I am not sure even MFM can help you. The guy will waltz into the hearts of your friends, prostrate for your dad and mummy and play hide and seek with your nephews and nieces. He will pull random things out of his hat like;

"Blessing, take this number, she is an event planner. Fix time to go and discuss with her."

You will find out (when it is too late) that he has two children with Rasheedat, gave Bose belle and has done 'introduction' with Suliyat.

Lest you think that I am speaking generally without basis, I just want to cull from different experiences of the people around me. Iyabo my friend is always regaling me with the tales of her husband. First, he has children from another woman. Why oh why can't they just find one woman to hatch all the eggs in the nest with? They are cheerful givers of children and children alone. She is always complaining about money for 'soup'. Apparently while they love to give children, the do not like to give cash or gifts. I am not using this woman's experience alone o! I have some other friends and it is the same thing they say. The men shirk their financial responsibilities. To put it like our office driver said

"They go born pikin for different houses but nobody go see their shishi..."

They are not just generous children givers, they can melt Olumo Rock with their raps. I just recalled a particular incident. I can still see the dark good looking guy that had backed me into a corner after a church service. "O'loun you are fine Sister Biodun.. Ah! "The "AH" he said startled me, it was as though something was surprising him. I even turned around and asked him "What?" He said that it was my beauty that had gripped him. When I went home, I had to stare at a mirror several times to see what was so striking about my face that had made him shout. His eyes had shone with sincerity. I was dating someone but I will not lie, he had entered my mind... just small. I discovered not long after that that he was engaged. Shior! I was snapped back to reality.

My neighbor always says.

"If you allow a Yoruba man open shop for you, when una quarrel, he go lock the shop."

So they are petty and vindictive.
When they give you something, they still own it. If a Yoruba man gives you something, do not pat yourself on the back for being 'sharp' or think that it was a special thing or a special way he feels about you that made him do it. There is a reason why 4 out 5 accountants are Yoruba... I may not have done any research but I am pretty confident. The dude did his math (which I assure you he did not fail in school) and weighed the pros and cons and decided it would benefit him to part away with the thing in question. This is very different from the Igbo man that will do things to show people that he is 'capable'. A Yoruba man will come to you as broke as humanly possible but yet you will find yourself cooking for him, forgiving him for his obvious lies and wondering for the umpteenth time how he managed to make you 'off' you panties despite your resolve not to.

The older they get, the badder they become
. Everyone knows of the Yoruba uncle that even at 60 is still squinting and pinning his eyes on Gbemisola's bum bum. Just two seconds of conversation and she will be giggling and blinking at Uncle while he says, "Gbemi, Gbemi. AH!!!! Your husband will enjoy o."

How did I escape? Maybe it was my destiny or maybe I had a thing against my people for looking down on me because of my northern upbringing and northern blood (from my mother's side). Or maybe it was because nothing can withstand the 'Igbo Kwenu' charm. Truly, by the time Mr Nkwocha was through toasting me like bread, I left my job, abandoned my vow never to live in Lagos to peel cocoyam for Oha soup in one kitchen in Ogudu. I can confidently say that so far he has lived up to his promises.

Ehen, this is not an insult to my brothers, this is a call to change. But come to think about it, why should they change? The girls will complain and still follow them. Sigh...

Consider Igbo boys, they know what is up (will do a part 2 focusing on Igbo boys!).

NB: I have just one brother in law left... hurry now while stock lasts.

june 12 was majorly a Yoruba thing as all other tribes left the Yorubas to carry their cross alone, the igbos ran away from Lagos and everywhere they were leaving in the south west saying now the Yorubas most fight their own civil war; that I will never forget because your people left Lagos and the south west in very large numbers, it was like an exodus. So stop lying behind your teeth.
