The emboldened is actually wrong, relationships have been affected, orientations have changed and outlooks have been altered.

I am glad we both share the same mind state, I hope it spread across to where we'd stay out of their business and not antagonize if we cannot support until we are given a reason to meddle in their affairs.

I agree with you but what i was referring to when I said nairaland is not reality is when I hear things like. we control 80% of lagos, Yorubas cannot do without oil and blah blah. at the end of the day, its all chest beating.the guys at DAWN Commission will just look at comments like that and smile

Biafrans are in many countries because they are marginalized and are travelling outside their torture zones to earn a living. Currently, the coal deposits and the unexplored deposits oil in the Biafran region will catapult that region to a great country. I agree, they will need a visa to enter Nigeria and do business. But Yes, you will need them to sell your spare parts and develop your real estates. That is how it should be. But Biafrans and Biafra allies are ready to move on. I personally will like to apply for citizenship of Biafra as far as we have a better living condition than the present comatose.

Thanks for letting us know that you view Nigeria as a "torture zone". Those were your words, not mine. The best thing would have been to move back into the South-East and develop it, into a sheer heaven on earth, instead of jetting out to other countries.

However, they prefer to reside in those other countries where they have no say in how their own affairs are run, where their opinions do not count, where they can be deported at the drop of a hat, and where they would have to devise many schemes in order to get residency or valid papers. But then every man to his own. sad

Trust me, there are too many non-Igbo who are ready, willing and able, to move into the spare parts business & real estate industry, once your brothers leave Nigeria. Selling spares is not rocket science, honestly. Non-Igbo Nigerians can easily develop a new Alaba market, if need be. And there have always been people from all ethnic groups in Nigeria, selling real estate. The Igbo do not have any extra-ordinary or special skills in this area. undecided

Yes, Biafra has unexplored oil deposits in Anambra & Imo. But then, so does Nigeria too in other parts of Ondo, Edo etc. Don't forget that part of the oil wells in Anambra, also flows straight through to Kogi land. And seismic data from Kogi has confirmed that commercial deposits of oil exists in that area. Last time I checked, the Igala in that part of town were not ready to leave Nigeria, for anywhere else. Badagry has also been found to have small deposits of oil and gas. An agreement to set up a processing plant in that area, is being signed as we speak. In Lake Chad at the northern part of Nigeria, there has been no oil but massive pockets of trapped gas which can be processed, piped and tapped for future use in gas-to-power schemes. After all, there are countries without a drop of oil that still survive. Does anyone remember Japan? Or Singapore?

By the time you leave, the rest of Nigeria would have to take other sources of revenue (such as tin, solid minerals, feldspar, gold, iron ore mining etc,) much more seriously, as well as Agriculture. Rivers Niger and Benue can be nurtured to supply adequate fishing stocks. Ogun River, Epe waterside, Yewa River, Osun River etc, can also do the same job. Don't forget that Argungu is where you find the largest fishing stocks, every year. The Atlantic Ocean also flows through the shoreline of Lagos and a few other places. Malaysia made a fortune from non-oil exports. So can we. The Lagos Free Trade Zone (FTZ) and the Olokonla FTZ are all here in Nigeria. The bitumen deposits in parts of Ondo State, are enough to tar our roads if properly harnessed. Your departure will spur us to concentrate on these things. Construction work has already started on Dangote's refinery in Olokonla area of Ondo State. wink

Remediation of lands affected by oil spillage, would then take centre stage. Buhari is leading the way by implementing the clean-up of Ogoni land. After the remediation, if the non-Igbo parts of the Niger-Delta choose to increase their fish farming activities, then there should be no issues. But then, it would depend on which of the minority tribes in the Niger-Delta, wish to remain in Nigeria. It is solely their call. sad

So you can see, that the remaining parts of Nigeria would survive quite well without the Igbo. undecided Once they leave, we would reinforce our borders, increase trade restrictions on in-bound foreign items in order to foster local development of goods and services, and place a ban on any products manufactured in Biafra, from coming in. So forget about having your cake and eating it.

Therefore, your folks do not need to wait forever to apply for citizenship of Biafra. Ask them to renounce their Nigerian nationality, right now. Tear up their passports. And ask your director to issue each of them with a new travelling document, without further delay. undecided

Don't forget to remind them to excavate their shops on the way out, and take them along. undecided We will keep ourselves busy, building new ones. When it is time for us to review their visa applications, Biafrans will be forced to be polite and vice versa. Rudeness would lead to visa denial on the spot. And once they arrive, they would restrain themselves from preaching hate-filled epistles, since they know that deportation is a reality.

So nobody should prevent Biafra from becoming a reality, abeg!! angry We are more interested in those who would be left behind.

A major milestone has just been reached - Igbo leaders are now beginning to come out to say what we really want. Soon, there will be a firm call for a UN supervised referendum in SE and SS to determine who wants to go and who wants to stay in Nigeria.
That is the way forward.
I'm proud of my people.

You almost made me feel like I'm ibo with your post. For corrective purposes, I'm Yoruba. My post history should tell you that.

I can only wish my fellow humans well until they wish me otherwise. So right now, my wish is that they get their country.

My question is, why do some if not many of our people throw fits when Biafra is mentioned as if we are going to lose something if they succeed? We act lie Biafra is our business and its failure or non realization is our goal - can't we just ignore their biafra threads, marches, posters and if possible broadcasts until they drag or mention us in it?

The more we continue to act like it is our business the more they'd continue to get unnecessarily someway towards us.

At times, many Yorubas act like the British charged them with the duty to keep the colonial legacy in existence, as though we all did not occupy these lands before Nigeria came into being.

I weak sef.

Guy, it was not my intention to make you feel like you were Igbo. Trust me, ethnic origin does not cut much ice with me. I am more interested in the content of your character, and whether you are making sense or not, than in where you come from.

But having said that, I cannot speak for the Yoruba since am not one. undecided undecided

But I have been told that the reason most of my Yoruba friends react the way they do to Biafra matters, is because of the way the Biafrans present the issue. Any comment made by a non-Igbo in connection with anything remotely linked to the South-east or Biafra, is met with a great deal of venom, insults and hate-filled remarks from the pro-Biafran crowd, no matter how innocous that comment may be. Why?? shocked

Anyone who makes the mistake of expressing dissent on any particular topic, is tagged "Yoruba," (as if it is a dirty word). Next the person's lineage, ethnic group and character is ripped to shreds with foul language and bitter ad hominem attacks. Maka, why??

Is their mind-set the only approved one, and must they dictate how others should think? shocked shocked

But since no one has the monopoly on hate and rancour, you then see the other side retaliating in the same manner, digging in their heels and justifying the existence of a 'one Nigeria'. And what should have been a corteous healthy debate, then turns into a cybercontest of "My position is better and wiser than yours'. " Why??

Don't get me wrong. There are people who genuinely believe in one Nigeria, because they have seen the potentials of this country and know how much can be achieved, if only our leaders get their act together. No country in the world is perfect. Every nation has its problems. But the way they are able to resolve their differences and forge ahead, is what gives succour to today and hope for tomorrow.

Like Albert Einstein once said: "“Peace cannot be kept by force; it can only be achieved by understanding.” undecided

Another philosopher also said: "States are made up of the men in them; therefore we cannot have better states, unless we have better men." If the quality of men running our affairs do not change, then no matter how many little republics we form, the same mistakes of the past will be repeated.

Honestly your long epistle is totally unnecessary on this issue.
We have plans to sell our products, repeat PRODUCTS (not oil alone) to ALL countries of the world. In fact we shall sell to the rest of Africa, America's, Asia, Europe etc. You will not be in a position to impose economic embargo on us because you PRODUCE NOTHING. You only consume with money raised from sale of oil and gas which will be gone, but even if you have it, we don't need to sell to you. It is like Yemen or Syria threatening to embargo Israel.
We need our freedom to be able to use what God has given us -OUR BRAINS.
Thank you for supporting us.

If Nigeria refuses to restructure and Biafra or Lower Niger Congress comes into being, we will
1. Cut off all oil and gas supply that feeds refineries and depots in both the north and Lagos.
2. Cancel and confiscate awarded oil blocks issued to non Biafrans, and even arrest and detain any such looters which are unfortunate to be on Biafran soil cool
3. The Biafran state will use proceeds from the offshore oil and gas to fund federally owned amenities like interstate roads, railways, seaports at Ibaka, Calabar, PH, Bonny, definitely one at Bayelsa e.t.c
4. Anambra my state and Imo have the largest gas reserves, and Enugu is probably third in line. The authorities will use taxes paid on this resources to construct about three mega-cities with skyscrapers and wide roads. One will be in northern Biafra somewhere between Igala and Idoma lands, one will be in igboland straddling the river Niger and inching into Ijawland, one will be in the Efik-Ibibio-Annang axis.
5. Centres of excellence and world class Research&Development facilities will be all over the country.
6. As prostitution, alaye and terroristic activities will drastically increase in Nigeria once the separation becomes a reality, the Biafran/LNR government will be providing financial aid to Nigeria worth about a billion dollars per annum to help convert them to keke drivers and akara sellers grin

These are a few of the many things the new government will be doing

Interesting! What is the proportion of oil blocks in Anambra & Imo?

Is it greater than the ones on the outskirts of Lagos, or the ones in Ondo, Edo, Kogi etc? It would be interesting to check the seismic data results. undecided Last time I went through comments in the media, there was no confirmation that Igala and Idoma people had any intention of leaving Nigeria. So those drawing mental boundaries through their land believing it would form the northern part of their new country, need to have a rethink.

And the largest number of private oil or fuel depots were concentrated in the South-West, last time I checked. So also were LFTZ, Olokonla FTZ Tin Can Ports, Apapa ports etc. Anyway, there are countries without oil, that have survived.

Ah, well...what do you know? wink

Well, in the event of Nigeria not restructuring soonest, Igala and Idoma people will vote to indicate which country they want to belong to, in the all-important referendum

Btw, in addition to oil, Anambra has the hugest gas reserve in Nigeria and they are located further within Anambra around my area of the state.
I accept it must be a painful knowledge for Igbo-haters, na God ooooh.

Oil wise, Imo alone has more oil reserves than all the Yoruba states put together. The same goes for Abia

Mister, it's not right for you to make frivolous statements because you do not like the Igboman. Though you may be bitter and angry for the unequal exploits and audacity of the Igbos, it's absolute wrong to spread baseless propaganda!
Maybe you can do better by throwing more light on the highlighted expression of yours in red colouration.

A number of Yorubas brag that Igbos don't have crude oil. That Igbos are greedy and want to corner Niger-delta oil wealth. That Ondo State produces more crude oil than the whole South East. And to heighten the insult, they say Igbos bring virtually nothing to the Federal revenue!
Do you see anything wrong when your people spread these sort of lies for years just to nail your perceived, perennial opponent?

It's unfortunate that many Yorubas do not see anything wrong in the pogrom committed against Igbos.

Many Yorubas hold the view that Igbos should be grateful for being allowed to live in their part of the country! Yorubas say Igbos disrespect their host when Igbos choose to exercise their franchise right. And you don't seem to see anything wrong in threatening someone to vote for your candidate!

But here you are, pointing accusing fingers on the Igbos for daring to defend themselves against your propaganda. And you mischievously term it 'chest beating'. And if they do not defend themselves, people like you will still find a way of accusing them of not doing enough to market themselves; that nobody is going to do it for them. We are wiser!

A number of Yorubas have begun carrying wicked lies about how Hausa-Fulani-Kanuri people have been peace-loving and accommodative; that it's the Igbos that always provoke their hosts in the North warranting the pogrom and other heinous crimes against the Igbos.
Yet in the same North and the Middle-belt the Christian minorities and other Southerners are maltreated, relegated to the background and even killed.

Another instance, during the 4-day visit to the US, PMB made the unfortunate statement of 97%-5% rule in a session with foreign journalists in Washington DC; that those who voted for him 97% cannot get the same dividends of his government as those that didn't vote for him or voted 5%; that it is only fair. The  biased statement was clear and unequivocal, yet some Yorubas still try to defend the indefensible.

Why do Yorubas take pleasure in twisting and distorting facts even when the truth is staring right at them?

Enough of these lies and propaganda to pull-him-down!
It's no longer working! It's stale already!

Why should Igala and Idoma vote in a referendum to join any other country? Did they tell you that they were tired of belonging to Nigeria?? Is Biafra no longer a South-East Igbo/SS Igbo affair? Why is Igala and Idoma being mentioned?? shocked

As for Anambra having the largest gas reserve, that remains to be seen. Only relevant data from expert geologists, can prove that. undecided

It is really not a big deal however even if it is true, as there are countries without oil that have survived and are still surviving till date. Apart from that, the remaining oil & gas deposits in Nigeria as well as non-oil minerals would be adequate, all things being equal. And more people would have to be a lot more creative in providing intellectual or knowledge-based services, and generating ideas that can create wealth. wink

Finally, it takes a lot of energy and a myopic mind, to hate. So hatred for the Igbo does not exist in the dictionary of many of us. We prefer to expend our energy on more constructive things. undecided

We just want them gone, so that everyone left can have a breathing space from their clamour, hate and rancour on the internet and in the media. sad

For four decades, the west and the north hypnotised the SS into believing that Igbos didn't't have oil and gas and as such were hellbent on forcefully acquiring theirs.
But God made sure to give us ours and in fact we have way more than we need.

Talking about human resources, this has always been the major hope for the Igbo source of wealth for and the human resources in the east is by far, the most productive in Nigeria.

Now regarding the Igala and Idoma, that shouldn't really bother you, as the referendum will be the best way and solidly empirical way of determining which country they want to be in

Nobody hypnotised the South-South into believing the Igbo did not have oil. In fact, the specific details of oil in Ala'Igbo emerged when 2D and 3D-seismic analysis became widely used. New technologies are developing all the time, in the exploration and production field.

Don't be suprised if the small oil and gas deposits currently off the coast of Badagry metamorphose into a major oil discovery, by the time 4D & 5D seismic systems are developed.

As for the Igala and Idoma, why for goodness sake are you insisting that they take part in a referendum when they have not expressed any desire to do so, and neither have they expressed any desire to leave Nigeria? Since when has the pro-Biafra group started speaking for them, in such a cavalier fashion?? shocked shocked

Save your referendum for all the minority groups in the South-South like the Izon, Efik, Ibibio, Etche, Ikwerre etc., whose input you need for Biafra to happen. Last time I checked in the media, the Igala and Idoma were not looking to the South-East or Biafra for salvation. They really don't need your referendum. undecided

For once, get your moronic mind off crude oil. How does it concern you to the point of skipping sleep that Biafrans sell spare parts? How does what the jackasses do in the zoo called Nigeria affect most of Ndiigbo who had left for Biafra? If the goons in the jungle called Nigeria want to knock themselves out with spare parts business & real estate industry establishments, it will only amuse the Ndiigbo.

Ah, well...what do you know? wink

If Biafra is actualized today, the first order of business will be to shutdown all the crude oil wells in the land. Biafrans must chart a different course from dumbass entity such as Nigeria.

Nah, you are the one displaying a moronic mindset. If you took time out to read Atlantian's post, you would have discovered that my own remarks were merely a response to his earlier comments. So I cannot see the reason for this unwarranted hostility reeking from your post. Should I paste Atlantian's comments here again for you to read? I hope it will make sense to you. Kindly go through it with an open mind.

Atlantian:

Biafrans are in many countries because they are marginalized and are travelling outside their torture zones to earn a living. Currently, the coal deposits and the unexplored deposits oil in the Biafran region will catapult that region to a great country. I agree, they will need a visa to enter Nigeria and do business. But Yes, you will need them to sell your spare parts and develop your real estates. That is how it should be. But Biafrans and Biafra allies are ready to move on. I personally will like to apply for citizenship of Biafra as far as we have a better living condition than the present comatose.

Goodluck to you in your shutdown operations! Call Nigeria whatever name you like, if it makes you sleep well at night. The rest of us are not bothered. undecided

They really don't need your referendum. undecided

First of all, I am happy you have come to the realisation that non-Igbo SS like Efik e.t.c. will take part in any such referendum. This contrasts sharply with your initial reply to me in which you only referred to se and ss Igbos as the only Biafran candidates. So at least I am happy we are making progress.

Getting back to Igalas and Idomas. How are you sure Igbos have not entertained nocturnal visits from influential individuals from those ethnic groups?
Btw, I am an Nri person and we share a common ancestor with Igalas , and cultural similarities with both the Igalas and Idomas. Both groups deserve to have the vote.
Again if they are not interested in joining their brothers in Biafra, they can all politely vote to remain in Nigeria

Guy, it is not a case of coming to any realisation. Your people have used NL to postulate their desire in several threads that Biafra is an SE Igbo/SS Igbo cause. No problem.

There are no Igala or Idoma groups that have come out en bloc, to claim that they want to be part of Biafra. So why do you want to drag them into something they have never expressed a desire to be part of?? shocked shocked

If ancestry is your claim, well the Anioma Igbo-speaking groups claim to descend from Benin. Should they drag the Bini people along with them when they decide to head for the Biafra enclave.

So why are you laying claims to Igala and Idoma land, biko nu?? Whatever nocturnal visit may have taken place, it cannot be representative of the larger Igala/Idoma group. So please delete your plans of terriorial expansion that include these set of people. Or are you planning to re-eanct another Midwest annexation, like your folks did in the late sixties? undecided

@LastProphet, are your people joining Biafra?? Kindly let us know.

This Igala issue has already been debated on several threads:

Trash! Are they minority in those places or not? U can't tell me about my history. All i know is that majority of igalas, as the largest ethnic group in kogi state, does not share anything with igbos, yes we do business with igbo immigrants in kogi state but that doesn't mean we have anything in common with u people.
Majority of igbos are christain, majority of igalas are muslim
Our food, dressing, culture is different, mr.man! grin

Like i said earlier those igalas who got lost in igbo land as a result of war with the jukuns are even eager to trace their origin back to kogi, in order words, they ain't really indigenes, they were few unlucky people who got seperated from their kinsmen as a result of the mistake of the nigerian govt by drawing unnecessary boundaries.

From ur post, Those few, tiny, almost extinct minority u said are in enugu state self wants to leave biafraland, that is why they interacted with attah igala (his traditional outfit doesn't look anything igbo but hausa o) so they can be relocated back. grin grin grin And here u are claiming there support biafra, hehe! U shot urself right in the foot. And lastly, u can never use the decision of a tiny minority who make up less than 1 percent of igalas to judge the whole "real" igalas of kogi. grin. https://www.nairaland.com/search/igala%20biafra/0/0/0/3

adamskutty:
hehehe! Did i just see igala? My eyes must be decieving me, lmaooo! Is this a joke or what?
Igalas and idomas have nothing in common with igbos, biafrans, we are from north central nigeria and majority of igalas and idomas are muslims, btw! grin grin

idoma land now is part of biafra? i see that total lack of land is worrying you people! https://www.nairaland.com/987947/picture-new-biafra-map-covering

@The poster. Please stop making a mockery of Ndigbo here. People like you are the reason why Ndigbo are so much hated here. Stop creating useless threads that will result in Igbo bashing.

The Biafran nation that was declared in 1967 did not include Edo, Idoma, Tivland and entire Delta state.
Nevertherless, stop creating this sort of threads.https://www.nairaland.com/987947/picture-new-biafra-map-covering

The referendum will afford Igala and Idoma the opportunity to opt out.

btw, I prefer a restructured Nigeria.
Biafra or Lower Niger Republic is my second option if the powers that be fail to restructure Nigeria.

Sir, keep your referendum for the SS minority tribes that decide to join Biafra. The Igala and Idoma have never expressed a desire for a referendum. Stop forcing your wishes for a referendum on them, simply because of your plans for territorial expansion, biko! shocked shocked
