I just look through the thread and i see people like safarigirl, mizmycoli and the rest of the crew are all having a feminist "free the women" 0rgy. Once they are off this thread, they live opposite lives, exactly as described here. I know many women championing this cause. My ex is one and it's funny she is still over me. So much for being a feminist

These women live sad lives, i don't mean the young ones on this thread who are still too young to comprehend what it means to be successful but lonely. I mean the real women who have an emotional void that only men can fill but they act all independent and i don't care about men and in their much reasonable states begin to feel sad about their boring lives. I only feel sorry for those reading this and looking for an affirmation to keep living the feminist fantasy idea of independence and giving no shit about a man. Those are the ones that will later hear few years down the line that these same women who were acting like F$%k marriage are all married.
i'm glad you can only feel a sense of importance when women cling to you. You're powerful because you have assumed the position of the centre of a woman's world. In the absence of that woman, you're just another creature with a dick. Let me correct the notion once again, that I am a feminist. I am not a feminist. I beleive in the traditional roles of a man and a woman, but I simply reject the idea of a woman surrendering and sacrificing her entire being on the alter of marriage while the man makes no attempt to do same.

please mizkholi....if you support that parents should kill that awareness of marriage in their female kids and these kids grow up and eventually seek to have a family or give birth to children how should they go about it......sometimes i think its all about balance...while getting married is not by force i implore that ladies dont take this female independence thing too far....a lady can be who ever she wants to be while respectfully married...all she needs to do is find that bobo that supports her dreams...

the truth is at some point in time every lady naturally craves for a family...what we end up dealing with here is nature...

Pitiably it's a man's world. Man was created to be stronger, faster and a protector to the woman. It is just natural the woman would feel secure being in his arms, being cared for by him as he leads the home being the stronger vessel like i said. It's on this premise coupled with the submissiveness their religions preaches that ensures women are automated from infant to view marriage as the eldorado of female existence. My sister write a billion articles like this if you want, but this order will not change soon. Except you want men to stop being stronger, except you want women to stop following what the pastor, imam, bible, quoran say.

Even many women reading this are so consumed with the love of marriage and marriage related things that nothing matters than that day and the respect of being addressed as Mrs.

Just a quick one here. Have you taken time to see the Bliss and Ecstasy on a woman's visage on the day of her marriage? The joy is beyond being 'happy' that she is getting married. It transcends the physical, women-folk may not even know this, but there is something deep inside the sub-conscious, an awareness that has been hard-wired into the female psyche akin to knowing intuitively that murdering your mother is wrong, that tells the woman that you need that man. Hate him all you want, despise the situation all you want, hate yourself for being so weak all you want, that craving, that gnawing, that nagging realisation can never go away. This is the reason feminist are fighting as hard as they can, they have to root out that need. That they can be independent of the men folk.

Newsflash! we need each other!

Just as men-folk complain everyday about the dearth of good ladies, it doesn't stop them from marrying every other Saturday. Same applies to the women. Get used to it for your continued sanity sake! If you go about looking for reasons not to give the time of day to that chap, you'll have more than a million reasons not to. Your best weapon is being adept at managing a bad situation as to be frank, the man-woman issue is totally beyond redemption (maybe til we see our maker). Manage the situation sagaciously.

Without meaning to wax religious here, a woman getting married is a fulfillment of something far above her, society or parent's dictate, it is her fulfilling a universal, cosmic and spiritual mandate if you will...will take me much time to really break this down, time I don't currently have given work but, let me say this, at the end of the day true happiness is not tied to her being married or a ring, true happiness is tied to her fulfilling her dreams while being married-why settle for less when you can have it all.

Women, you got your work cut out for you. As 'useless' as men are, there are those who'll lift you up to achieve that which you dream of. The only issue is you hardly, if ever, give those spec of men a fighting chance (deny this all you want but it is the truth, like you know, you get what you pay for).

i support women to chase their dreams o, but after fulfilling their dreams, they should not start to chase ring because it will end them becoming a single mother.
by the time you forget chasing ring along side dreams, at 30 when you might have collected Phd or be executive director of x company if you are fortunate anyway; and you want to start chasing ring im afraid the ring giver you may luckily see might be gold digger and before you realized he is off leaving you

That's the good thing about being African my dear, you are only meant to support the man. It is the man that must take up most of the financial responsibilities. I would say man 70%, woman 30%. Even if you had all the money in the world, a right thinking man would still feel uncomfortable not doing his duties as a man grin grin grin

Right! Even my partner would like me to sit at home and cuddle him all day , but he knows that I need to go to work and find my own career.

What if he has an accident at work or dies or something terrible.

All we are saying is that women should not rely on a man!

Nairaland men will complain that women are chopping their money but will raise hell if a woman decides to make her own money.
What do Nairaland men want?

Nigerian feminist are unreal. They still want men to be ATM.

That's my major problem with them. They are insincere and their feminism charade is one of convenience. Let's be equal in areas that suits me and you can take the lead in circumstances that favours me - Nigerian feminist.

An average European is likely to feel embarrassed when you attempt to pay for her refreshment and might caution you not to next time. How many of Nigerian women feminist or women generally can pay for their date? Their flimsy excuse is that you initiated the date so the man should pay. Which is baloney.

So much insecurity on the part of men. This post is for women and how they can find a sense of purpose while waiting for marriage. It's only insecure half ass men that will condemn this post cos they don't even know what they want in a mate.
There are two clear issues here: 1. Men see themselves as a mini god. 2. African men are threatned when they see or hear the word 'Feminism'. There are different types of feminism. No one is struggling with anyone but women should be allowed to live up to their potentials with or without marriage. This idea of shaming single women only happen in less developed societies.

Are you going to get married in future?

if so, where is the victimisation in correcting a bad habit that could be taken to your husbands' house?
exactly my thoughts...this article should be directed to ladies who have sworn not to get married till death and to their female kids peradventure they adopt female kids...

Like I said earlier, it should be balanced. Don't chase success while sacrificing your relationship, at the same time don't focus on your relationship at the detriment of your success. A good man should work with you to achieve a balance and a good woman should not use her career as an excuse to neglect her home!

another thing i noticed years back in teens church was that, whenever pastors are praying for teenage boys, they always prophesy presidents ("i see presidents here", the common line), but when praying for teenage girls, they always pray for first ladies. Like can't women also be presidents, must their highest achievement only be who they are married to, lipsrsealed lipsrsealed

Re: Woman! Know Thyself! You Are More Than A Ring And A Title. by Nobody: 2:11pm On Oct 02, 2015
@all, personalizing issues and a deliberate refusal to look at the other person's life, is the begining of the feeling that the world's entire weight is on your shoulder, hence the butt-hurt feeling which pushes us into unreasonable, bias and non objective activism.

@op, everyone in Africa (i don't know how it is in other parts on the world) is brought up with marriage as the ultimate aim.

I have heard guys being told "with this lazy behaviour of yours, how are you going to fend for your family?"

i know guys who have been told "with your keepin to yourself, how are going to be able to relate with your wife?" "this talk wey you dey always talk to yourself, your wife go run commot from house leave you one day" "with the school wey you no want take seriously like so, for ladies, theirs is even better, but for you, who is going to marry you". With that, a boy is told that the reason he must go to school is to make sure he is elligible for marriage. And that is true! His chances of making it in life is greatly reduced if he is uneducated. And not even the feminists, who claim it is ok for the woman to be bread winner, will be attracted to him at that point.

Stop feeling its only you that gets corrected in hope you don't carry undesirable behaviours into marriage. Men are being told the same thing too. If you've not noticed that, then its because you've been so fixated on your ideology. No wonder you feel the weight of the world is on your shoulders and you think the man is a legitimate object to hate.

Ya true. Whoever initiated a relationship or dinner date is inconsequential to the offsetting of refreshment bills. The excuse of you asked me out and should pay is negligible and hold no ground. It's like saying because I proposed to you I should see to your welfare forever. That's a pile of folderol if you ask me.

A Lady after reading this:

Lady: Oh, I love this. Thanks MizMyColi, I just wish our ladies will learn.

Then she receives a message from boo.

Boo: Are you free? Let's hang out.

Lady: Oh! I love this. Thanks boo.

So she goes out with boo, straffs him all night and everything she read wipes out automatically.

And everything still remains thesame.

BTW, the op failed to realize that marriage increases a man's or a woman's worth too. I don't care who you are or what you have achieved, if you are single then you are incomplete.

And What's with people and their recent attack on marriage btw? Is marriage the only institution that is failing?

Nothing on earth is better than a blessed marriage, it's an achievement on its own, the reason most fail is is our sin.

It is sin that will make a man to hit his woman. It is sin that will make a man see a woman as a lesser being, it's sin that will make a man to cheat on, beat or mistreat his woman in any way. Same thing goes for the woman.

Listen, if we all should repent and follow God's guidelines for marriage then believe you me that marriage will become the best thing on earth.

I think you are mixing things up

Nobody has said marriage is bad.... at least not the OP; however, marriage is not the end, it is a means to an end.

Men desire to marry too but how many men are solely trained for marriage?

A woman is much more than a wife.

And the fact a woman knows herself does not mean she would not have relationships or a marriage.

[size=15pt]But come to think of it.

To my anti-marriage feminists. Marriage is joy and strength of a woman.

Show me a single successful woman. NONE. I am not talking about female celebrities who are into semi-prostitution.

I am talking about powerful women. They are all married.

Hilary Clinton - is married. Despite her husband cheating on her, she still stayed in the marriage. She nurtured her marriage and she got to places. To get to place of power, you need to show the world you have a family and you are responsible. No singleton will be taking serious.

Angela Merchella (German Prime minister) - She is married

Mention a powerful woman in the society, you will see she is married.

All these lopsided writeups to dissuade/discourage women from marriage is just out of it.

Even a comic character like Kim Kardashian is not joking with her family

good points but don't u see that these value of being a good wife when a young girl is corrected is a better model in the mindset of a damsel growing up than just sayin good woman, ppl need sense of value with better internal picture representation.these day most women have not give it a better thoughts of being a good woman as a better value that's y they throw their pride away. secondly, when one is corrected and marriage is used as a reference point for a young girl is far better than any life event u may sum up.do u know marriage is the long lifetime day to day event btw a woman and man,it is not just wedding.so what are we talking about,if u have a pickup characters that sum to habit, then that will define you, and certainly ur children character in your marriage. marriage is an institution that ppl like the writer usually underestimates. but certainly it can determine the personality of ur family.

You are actually aligning with the OP.

And those women had those dreams because they were not trained for only marriage.

Do you know how much messages/dates that the average nairaland female user gets weekly?. Even walking down the street gaan sef. It's even easier at parties /clubs/weddings to find a man.
Nigeria is heavily populated ! Most women who are not married usually have a very good reason in Nigeria usually have a solid reason.
