But come to think of it.

To my anti-marriage feminists. Marriage is joy and strength of a woman.

Show me a single successful woman. NONE. I am not talking about female celebrities who are into semi-prostitution.

I am talking about powerful women. They are all married.

Hilary Clinton - is married. Despite her husband cheating on her, she still stayed in the marriage. She nurtured her marriage and she got to places. To get to place of power, you need to show the world you have a family and you are responsible. No singleton will be taking serious.

Angela Merchella (German Prime minister) - She is married

Mention a powerful woman in the society, you will see she is married.

All these lopsided writeups to dissuade/discourage women from marriage is just out of it.

Even a comic character like Kim Kardashian is not joking with her family

God bless you.

Angela Merkel is married for the second time. She divorced her first husband. I guess, she would suffer from social stigma if it was Nigeria and would have never been elected to the highest office as a divorcee. Right?

Christine Lagarde is divorced.

Mother Teresa has never been married.

Oprah Winfrey has never been married.

Park Geun-hye, the current president of South Korea, is single.

I could go on but I guess it is enough to show that what you said up there (see red) is WRONG.

So she goes out with boo, straffs him all night and everything she read wipes out automatically.

And everything still remains thesame.

BTW, the op failed to realize that marriage increases a man's or a woman's worth too. I don't care who you are or what you have achieved, if you are single then you are incomplete.

And What's with people and their recent attack on marriage btw? Is marriage the only institution that is failing?

Nothing on earth is better than a blessed marriage, it's an achievement on its own, the reason most fail is is our sin.

It is sin that will make a man to hit his woman. It is sin that will make a man see a woman as a lesser being, it's sin that will make a man to cheat on, beat or mistreat his woman in any way. Same thing goes for the woman.

Listen, if we all should repent and follow God's guidelines for marriage then believe you me that marriage will become the best thing on earth.

I know that people will misunderstand me here but I am only responsible for what I mean, not what they understand.

First thing first, a single man is a lonely man and loneliness is an awful thing; it is emptiness, incompleteness, lack of communion, lack of personal companionship. Loneliness is the lack of opportunity to share yourself with someone who understands. If you don't have that person, you are incomplete.

You quoted Bible first so let's rub mind there too, a woman was created to be a helper suitable for man, compatible with him spiritually, mentally, emotionally, and physically. She is his complement, providing what he lacks and fulfilling his potential.

How woman was created: God took a rib out of the man and from it made a woman. While he created man out of the constituents of soil, he made woman out of man. She is part of him. In fact, she has part of him, and man is incomplete until he gets that part back in the person of a wife.

You mentioned 19th century, bro does it mean that the purpose of marriage then and now are no longer the same? If yes then who changed it?

Though I have replied you before but I want you to understand something, for what it's worth.

A single man is incomplete unless he has the divinely bestowed gift of celibacy! The Bible teaches that celibacy is a special gift from God which is sometimes bestowed on a man or woman when the single status would permit him or her to be more effective in the service of Jesus Christ.

It's a special calling for a special purpose.
I love yhu....

You are probably between 19 and 25. A time where a young lady can be wild and free and say things like 'i don't need marriage' 'i don't need a man'. in 5, 10 or 20 years time when you would achieved all you want in life, shut out everyone mocking you for still being single, you will then sit and realize you are an emotional creature. Emphasis on emotional. At that time you will know what the word 'void' means in the dictionary and then you will fully understand what a ring and a Mrs completing you actually meant. Not the naive, girlish understanding you have now. It's funny how one of your champions Beyonce never gave that ring a second thought and she even brags with the name Mrs Carter.

And where bros did you pull your facts from? Or Beyonce told you in confidence that she never 'gave'. the ring a thought?

Was she not always in a relationship with Jay-Z?

All from this same OP.

Although the bolded is true and to some extend it's even more ardous to perform domestic chores than conventional jobs but it's hardly possible to equate money-making to anything else in life, especially in a capitalist world we live in. Wealth naturally makes people assume power and dominion over others so the majority of family fanancier will likely feel they have dominion regardless of the significance the other party (housewife) feel their contribution to the union may be.

Prior to the advent of feminism and it resultant effect to some part of the world women traditionally played the role of a housewife but not until they started attaining education and making progression in topical profession, making their own money, even as they boycotted the mentality of a breadwinner before egalitarianism could make waves and progress.

The role of domestic chores and babysitting can be assume by either partner who's not working, male or female alike or split by both which I find more acceptable. But the mentality that a man should be the financial contributor in a /relationship/marriage would not help the feminism struggle in a patriarchal setting like ours on women's path. Chances are that anyone who foot the bills will always feel they're in control.

100% agree with you.

It's ludicrous for anyone to assert that one need marriage to be complete and anyone who didn't perform the ceremonial ritual live a sad and incomplete life. Never heard a buffoonery of such proportion.

I wouldn't mind getting married someday even though I'm not enthusiastic about it but I'm a complete individual with contentment and inner felicity and don't need no one to make me complete and wholesome. I'm responsible for my own completeness and happiness and if I can't obtain it myself no one else will.

Marriage is just a form of a relationship just like dating, courtship, cohabitation etc. Depending on which phase one is satisfied with there are couple who have settled for courtship without obtaining a ceremonial piece of paper and their union have subsisted more than some married couple and are happier.

Anyone who places their 'completeness' on a partner have a problem and I implore they discover what it is and seek inner beatitude before embarking on a marriage as no one can guarantee it for them. Fortunately, I'm not able to dabble into religion as I don't border or subject my thought process on established doctrines and some ancient book.

Pls note, this write up is a good one and its motives are good, but parents bring up their female child solely for this certain reasons:

1. Parents were also brought up this way.
2. Female child easily go astray without a companion weda her parent or husband.
3. Female is a weaker vessels. If u study the word "Rebecca this your arrogance and tongue will drive away your husband”. Understand that the only party that can drive a woman crazy or cause her trauma is a man especially her husband, a woman in an abused relationship can suffer emotional problems. She should not be arrogant and drive her husband away in other to avoid this trauma.
4. This is Africa, nobody jokes with family or marriage.

This write up focus on gender equality especially here in africa... But sorry guys it can never be attained due to some norms, not at this time.
Not until I see 80% of woman in engineering department.

This topic does address a major relevant issue in d society, but I fink there's sth faulty about it. It seems to emphasise on d fact that too many women are predominantly bent on marriage and nothing else; that women cannot realize themselves and their goals in marriage; that being dedicated first to marriage is sth wrong in itself.
Before we begin to over flog this issue of marriage,we must realize that we are essentially Africans and as such there are inherent values which define and govern morality- what's good or bad, wrong or right. The notion of marriage and its ultimate importance should be strictly considered bearing in mind our value system. No individual can ostracise himself from his culture and its tenets nd be completely at peace with himself.
As regards the institution of marriage,it ranks ultimate in African culture and it us a God-given injunction. That is why early enough,a woman is thought to aspire to marriage (because it is our culture and it is held essential 4 a woman). But this should not be interpreted to mean that her individual dreams, goals nd aspirations should not be met or should be relegated to the background or that they cannot be realized with or without marriage. It simply means that in chasing ur life's goals, marriage should be one of them, and a priority.
But humans are one complicated specie...and not all of us subscribe to popular beliefs. As such, there are women that decide to do everything but get married. But does everyone really believe that they feel COMPLETELY fulfilled? That they do not sometimes question their decisions? That they do not seek sexual gratification, thus perhaps being fornicators for life? For me,the major reason why these few single feminists are being applauded, by certain people is because a number of them turned out rich and influential. Imagine if they were all broke ladies?
What am I saying in essence?... Succinctly, put,d issue of marriage is greatly emphasised because it is an important element of our culture and is thus expected of every lady, except of course, those sworn to service to God. Marriage does not stop a woman from attaining all her set goals,if anything at all it facilitates it,with an added status nd a husband to support...Goals can be realized within or outside the context of marriage. Whosoever decides not to be married for life, should do so out of strong personal reasons, must be brave enough to put up with castigations nd remain happy....Should at least strive to live a moral lifeAnd whosoever decides to be married must have it at d back of her mind that marriage is one life long venture nd must therefore get married for only d right reasons, not just bcoz of societal standards.
Having said all these,I must state at this juncture that these are my opinions and is thus not open for any debate. I'm not being objective about this.

This is the problem with the op and it is a problem with many girls. They possess a constant need to remind themselves of their worth so as to give their low self esteem a lift. These types of women survive off places like the Internet. They have no life off it. They constantly need attention from guys who will surely give it to them abundantly on the Internet. They are not happy people but use all the long essays and articles like this to comfort themselves and create a false sense of worth. Once this article is past, she'll return to her usual shell of self pity and on a good day after sobbing over her boring life, she creates another self inspiring article. Its a cycle n u can see from the topics created

How do people sleep at night with so much bile and hatred in their system.
What good does it do you to speak so erroneously of someone you do not know.
Are you not a human being.
Don't you have your low days?
Are you always feeling happy go lucky every now and then?
Let's even assume that I am currently or almost always sad (which I know to be a lie from the pit of hell), is it not human to be that way? Let's also assume that I wrote that piece (which is equally not true), is it your business what I do to make myself feel happy and good?

What exactly is your aim for trying to put me down?
To despise me? To make me feel hurt?
What kind of human being does that?
Isn't that the basest form of heartlessness and thoughtlessness?

I reject every form of negativity which you are trying so hard to make yourself and others like you believe is my reality.
I reject it! I am not sad. I am at peace. I love the woman that I see in the mirror daily. I will do exploits coolcoolcool

I do not have it all together, and that's okay.
If I did, there would be no reason to live anymore. Life itself is a journey, and I embrace it...warts and all.

I affirm that I am a work in progress, I know that God is not through with me yet. Am I perfect? No. But I know the one in whom I have believed. For that I will raise my head up, and I will look the world in the face, with joy and peace encompassing all of my being. Will there be those days when I feel downcast and my head dropped? Yes. But I will yet rejoice because he is the lifter of my head. On this path to perfection, I will enjoy every bit of it, I will take each day at a time. The process will be more important to me, than the result.

We are pressed continually to think, feel and be a certain way
And condemned when we fall short, labeled and ridiculed
But yet I say its okay
Why? Because I know who I am and I know what defines me
I know that I am whole, complete. Lacking? Not me
So when "flaws" appear and past traumas make my heart race
I do not reach for them with a shovel but with a hug I embrace
And pour love, compassion and patience on every inch, bit and trace
And discovery, understanding and growth are birthed from this atmosphere of grace.
So I don't have it all together and that's okay
My life is one of learning and transformation and that's all that really matters. Come what may.

On this note young man, I wish you well.
I pray for you, I bless you.
For every negativity you have projected at me in thoughts and in words, I project positivity and blessings. I know the one in whom I have believed.
Blessed beyond curse, Love and Light rules.

Well from what I know, men are not exempted from this marry or you are not complete mentality. The only difference is that they have a little more time than women before the pressure sets in.

This is why it is rare to see a 40 year old successful bachelor that is respected. Once you reach that age range, the next thing you hear is why is he not married? Is he a ritualist? Is he impotent and can not get a woman? Something must be wrong somewhere for him to still be single at this age with all this money, etc. Let me not even go into what his mother and family members will start doing, marrying a wife for him from his village...or worse.

Even let him be married then have no children from the first wife...next thing is he is sterile...God help him his family pursues the first wife and he marries a second one who does not get pregnant....hmm mm that is the end of his life ooo. In fact. .In most cases such a man ends up committing suicide. Women are already built to withstand so much but a man's ego can not withstand the things some women have had to swallow and still survive.

So my dear women, no human being has it easy....its just different levels of issues and opinions provided by society. That is why a woman can be a housewife and still be respected but a man dare not be a house husband or he ll be ridiculed endlessly.

That's just the way the world is.

Those that have been faced with the truth about what they are try to build a tall tall wall to shield that truth away rather than embrace it, work on it and experience real peace.
