In Enugu? Yes but not with this type of hand held equipment. In Enugu you have to bring along a truck mounted rig that can go down a longer depth, its not unusual to go down 600ft with many incidences of hitting a big rock.
That was exactly my thought. The last time I saw this kind of borehole was in maiduguri and the soil there is relatively sandy so I was even surprised to see it being used in the s/east.

The going gets tough as we hit a stone while drilling for water. They load sand bags on the drill for added weight and keep turning, with another drill bit of course.......

We hope to hit good water soon, meanwhile more workers are on their way to this site now, I plan to pack in about 30 workers here tomorrow. The plastering team, the ornamental guys, the bricklayers, the plumbers, the electricians, the A/C guys, the window and burglary proof man will all be around to start work or take measurements. Expect all details here..........

This site will be real busy in the next 7 days.

The mass attack strategy, it always works when there is good supervision to plan ahead and ensure compliance to all processes.

Real hard manual drilling indeed, there is a better way of doing this. Pls tell those guys that are doing the drilling; to drill hard soil or rock surface. They need pressure not weight. What they need is to get a pumping machine that can at least push pressure of 300psi or more, 1 hose that will soak water from one end of the pumping machine and the other side will push pressure out to the other end; connect the hole pipe in the middle of the blade that drills. This way the pressure is the one blasting the soil surface and the little pressure applied from the operator to achieve the desire drilling.

Thank you Kopell, I understand the process you described above, but that will only work for hard soil, this is stone. Even at that the puming machine is on at high pressure even as the mount the extra sand bags as added weight, the water is still flushing out the sand from the hole on high pressure. We are using both water pressure and weight combined.

The materials is difficult to estimate since I didn't visit the site, but the workmanship is high at N240k, I think 150k can plumb a bungalow.

Where in lagos is the project. I just vex as I see the unit cost a substantial nos is more than threes times the actual cost.

quantity is usually a guesstimate. Often times you end up buying more.

Re labour that is what they charge in the estates more than double the going rate. I could link you up.
