Hello All,

Sadly Rafiu Ajakaye needs to generate a story but this one is devoid of all truth.
And then they have the gall to call us ‘mercenaries’.
STTEP has NOT been asked to return to Nigeria and we very much doubt we will be asked to return. We did what we could in our 3 months there and that is long over.

I am amazed at how so-called journalists are able to generate utter rubbish and get paid.

All the good folks here wagging their accusing fingers at El Presidente, because he WISELY sought outside military help in order to vanquish the slave-raiding horde known as Boko Haram, would be the first ones to urgently request ALL FORCES AVAILABLE at ANY price, the instant any major terrorist act takes place within earshot of where they personally reside.

Those of us who would have preferred President Jonathan to serve a second term in office should at the very least now just learn to respect the will of the people, who voted in an election adjudged internationally to be free and fair, for the gentleman now occupying pole position in the Nigerian Federal Government. With that in mind, there is simply NOTHING to be gained by constantly moaning about decisions taken by the current government, particularly with respect to the manner in which the current war on terror is being prosecuted by the military, under its new Commander in Chief.

The mercenaries being brought back into the Nigerian government's war plan WILL acquit themselves very well, thank you, and they will go about the grim task of ruthlessly annihilating terrorist gunmen with precision and by the score, once they are unleashed at the front, which is a good thing, REGARDLESS of who signs the checks to get the Dogs of War barking, biting and savaging the enemy.

Nigeria has elected a president who may well occupy his post for the next EIGHT years, depending on how things go down the road, so the tiresome keyboard sport of lampooning all he does will certainly wear down its practitioners in the long run, as the months run into years, so hey, lighten up y'all, and wish the Nigerian government every success, as it bravely locks horns with one of the most profoundly evil military invasion forces ever to stain the books of history - Boko Haram

But what is the big deal about December. Not too wise in my opinion. You put too much pressure on the security forces while all BH needs to do is hunker down and watch the calendar then when the date strikes January they pop up again, thoroughly demoralizing our boys. This thing has no military solution.

Nigeria denies hiring mercenaries to fight Boko Haram

The Nigerian government has not hired any foreign mercenaries in its battle to defeat the Boko Haram insurgents, an official said on Sunday.
Mike Omeri, the Director General of the National Orientation Agency, NOA, stated this on Sunday when he paid a courtesy call to PREMIUM TIMES head office in Abuja.

The official’s statement comes amidst reports that the Nigerian military hired mercenaries from South Africa and other countries since the renewed offensive against the insurgents began on February 14. Several territories initially captured by the insurgents have since been retaken by Nigerian soldiers working with soldiers from neighbouring West African countries. Mr. Omeri said a lot of Nigerians mistake consultants helping in the deployment and use of newly acquired military hardware as mercenaries.

“When our weapons were acquired recently, we needed training because training component came with the people who supplied these weapons,” he said. “It is therefore easy to see a white man where these things are happening like in Maiduguri and elsewhere and conclude that we have mercenaries.”

“What we have are trainers who came from security companies to help us manage and learn how to use some of the much more modern weapons because there is no time; we are in a war situation and we need the capability to use the weapons immediately.”
