I could run an entire page of commentary on those few lines of yours. MizMycoli taught me to write ONLY when I'm inspired. Thanks for the kind words; you seem unselfish with them.

Financial intelligence book? I hardly can recall though I'm aware I've opened a few thread ls over that issue. I take that topic very seriously. I'm glad you're learning so much; I am too.

I'm so particular about the success and happiness of others like I'm about my own. Thanks.

Yeah. Somehow inspiring people to taking total responsibility for their lives rewards me with emotions I can't explain in monetary values.

Once again, many thanks.

That's the spirit. Keep it aflame. Keep it burning. Let it consume your mind; only then shall nature open ways for you. It's a law. Time flies.

To start with, if you haven't started pondering what will become of your life and career after the NYSC, you're already in a very big trouble.

Ours is a society where parents and guardians believe that training their kids or assisting adolescents end the moment after their graduation from the higher institutions. I believe that's terribly wrong BUT that's the relentless reality. Once you're out of the higher institutions, you're ON YOUR OWN.

Whether you like to believe it or not, there's no free lunch waiting for everyone after their NYSC. Except your parents are top politicians, the average one of us will have to fight for their survival after the NYSC.

Our lives are rated in time. So to waste time is to waste our lives. I wish I could drop all I discussed recently with a neighbour when she told me she will be going for her NYSC very soon.
Nice one

To many this one year is a year of enjoyment and frivolities. If you're in that category, perish the idea. This one year is one of the most important period in your life. This one year should be spent planning your future, pondering what exactly you want to do, where you'll love to work, where you'll like to live, what you'll do if there's no job in the first one or two years. The fact is, many shall be worn out jobs in their first few years after the NYSC. You may say GOD FORBID, but again that's the bitter truth.

As a corper or prospective one, I advise you save at least 10% of your allowance EVERYONE MONTH. You've got no choice. The first year after service is usually the most challenging for most graduates, because that's the very first time they're experiencing the reality of life. The euphoria of school and NYSC are over and the brutal reality stare them in the face. Save your money. Have an idea what you may do. Plan your years ahead.

Learn a skill. The present economic times are challenging. Folks are losing jobs everyday. The prevailing economic downturn may be around till next year. You need to be prepared. This news should discourage you, instead let it make you become very proactive and forward thinking. If there's any skill you love to learn, this is the best and most appropriate time.

It takes a lot more than being a graduate to succeed. It takes planning, plan B, focus, discipline and determination to succeed. Being without a job is the worst position one can find themselves.

With a little discipline and vision, impending joblessness and the accompanying depression can be avoided. Be smart.

Like the Boys Scout Motto: Be Prepared.

Lalasticlala, please kindly do the needful.

Best thing to do during service is to learn a skill.

If the news of "How difficult life after service is" is fresh to some others, then those individuals are isolated from reality. By now, this is something every corp member should know assuming am not presuming too much.

Mr man you talk too much. You are still serving and will never know the true reality till you pass out of service. Service has its own spirit that blind you from the reality sometimes.

If you know the reality already, let the Op educate others that are naive about it. Just observe and pass to other thread.

Don't come here to prove Mr know it all. Life as a corper is different from life in the real world. Even with those that have skills, it's never easy.

Intelligent fellow listen and observe to learn more.

The truth can never be stale. Even if they've heard it before, I assume there's no big deal in reminding ourselves once again of the need to think ahead.

Mr Op

Leave that man alone. I have quoted him. He is still a serving corper and don't understand the reality of life. People that claim they know it all, knows nothing.

Intelligent fellow learn, unlearn and relearn.

I'm paid 20k + allawee 19k and it hardly last to the end of the month. Biko how man go do?? no skills no savings

Sha i'm good in my field.

You make me laugh bro... you are good in your field. You will know thousands of people that are better than you when you come to the real world.

Do you think those unemployed graduates are handicap in their field? Some are genius but no opportunity...

You better re-structured your mind set and scrap that notion from your memory.

I beg to disagree with this, who prays for his parents to still be feeding him or buying him or her pants and boxers even after being a graduate and serving? If that's your prayer share this post, if not like it.
The thing is being and andult and being independent should start from probably age 18 at that age whether you are and undergraduate or jambite start nuturing and penning down ideas that you think will make u a success don't wait till when u are a graduate. When you start implementing your plans and ideas no matter how small you start then by the time you are a graduate you must have been a master in that field. Imagine going to school all your life and going to nysc orientation only for them to tell you there are no jobs and you should learn SAED either carpenter or hairmaking or baking cake etc. Then why waste 5 years or more in school. If I am learning carpentry or whatever skill in 5 years I would be a professional and a millionaire instead of wasting 5 years reading theory in some institution. What I am saying is find what you are good at immediately you are literate that means when you finish secondary school. Don't wait till when you get a degree till you start seeing the realities of life.
Thanks

Thanks for your contribution. As for me, even after my kids may have finished their first degree, I won't stop helping them. I'll continue to give them all the necessary support till they're able to stand on their own. That's the point dear.

First of all, how do I talk too much? Because I voiced my opinion on the issue, right. Secondly, how am I in your own words "Mr Know it All"? Because I said most corpers should have known what the Op is trying to pass across. Well, this is social media where there is freedom of expression. So, feel free to make your own opinion about me. But I still maintain my stand that the topic is stale: we've heard it over a thousand times in the same manner we've constantly heard of how "Entrepreneurship" is the only way to becoming rich . And we want suggestions on the way out, not threads that always reminds us of how bleak the future is. Does a constant reminder of "How hard life after service is" make life any more better or easier? No, rather it induces fear into us in addition to the already built up apprehension we have before. And mind you, fear is good: it prompts us into action, but not when it is in excess. Call me what you want or tag me with any name you like, dude. But I still insist: those who don't know how hard life after service is are isolated from reality. Peace!

Have you ever heard of the word Reevaluation, what you are proving is pointless, just like saying the word of God is stale, at least I have been hearing about the coming of the lord from the moment I understand what sanity is all about, yet the world seems to be growing worst.

During my school days it is easy for guys to gather money, skip school fees just to have the latest gadget and ball with cream bae while power generator as the call demand. I was lost just few months after school, this same folks can't even maintain anything bill in their life without depending, I am not trying to spite anyone, but make use of opportunity when it comes you way... No matter how hard you try to down play this post, accept it OP just saved a soul. Take a Bow and Go!

I would have preferred if you were the one that quoted my comment in the first place rather than the other guy that was calling names. Your comment is reasonable, matured and has made me see the importance of the thread. I am taking the bow now!
