My Next of Kin = MY WIFE.

If we both die at the same time, it moves to my Father to hold in trust for my Children to Inherit once they turn 30.

maybe the deceased knew what he was doing. Family can sometimes be a pain in the ass and maybe his ex was the person he really felt connected to. Maybe he put her there because that's who he felt understood him the most.

Lesson is don't take your family members for granted

Boyfriend/ girlfriend as next of kin? Love don blindfold them. We are all single and dating until we are fully married. Your boyfriend is still our boyfriend.

I think we seriously need to be educated on this matter, I don't actually have much time to elucidate, but let me just summarise. It could just be that the family went to the Bank to ask for the account details without Letter of Administration, so it is normal that the Bank ask for who it is that is the next of Kin and they possibly tried to react.
"Nest Of Kin is Inconsequential Where Letter Of Administration Is Issued By The Court". Thank you

Next of kin or no next of kin, you can not automatically access a deceased's money. If deceased left no Will, you will go and follow necessary process at the Probate for you to get the authorising letter of administration; and this process is not only open to a named next of kin.

My next of kin in Nigeria has been my mother. But were I am leaving has been my son. Though I have a will in Nigeria which states who get what and when. This is were my wife is stated because she is not a Nigeria. I didn't want people or her to take advantage of an ugly situation.

Next of kin doesn't have to be your wife or husband, it should be someone reliable and dependable that you trust enough to handle affairs smoothly and fairly in your absence. If your spouse is mean and wicked to your family or their family and you know that you would like a certain amount of help to be offered to those family members when you are gone, then it will be wise to pick someone reliable to give the role to.
People should think we'll before picking a next of kin.
The person should be a neutral person who will handle and care for the things you love just the same way it would have been when you were there.

Next of KIN does not automatically translate to the beneficiaries.

Make sure you have a will in place and be detailed on how your stuffs should be distributed.

Re: Why You Should Be Careful In Choosing Your Next Of Kin (Photos) by Nobody: 11:12am On Jan 26, 2016
Next of kin is most effective in cases of accidents and hospitals(emergency)However,if you wish to transfer wealths after your demised,I'll suggest that you have a Will as will supersede next of kin.Nonetheless, next of kin doesn't and can't automatically transfer your wealths, except if ....?they have their letter of administrations of estates in order, this can only be done by a legal practitioner.

So make a will,it's important.

I don't believe this make believe story!

NOK is just a contact person in case of emergency. If you like, you put your papa girlfriend who was your mother's rival then as your next of kin, if her name is not mentioned as a beneficiary/ administrator to the estate of the deceased on the letter of administration, the nok would only be hoping till Dasuki return the stollen $2.1bn.

If Banks or any financial institution release the fund in a deceased account based on the NOK nonsense, it means they are on bonanza mode.
