My sister, as we speak, big years are rolling down my cheeks, I'm in pains. I'm watching Cbeebies with no option of changing it, unless it's to SuperSport and Football (she likes the teams' bright jersey colours and the green of the pitch). I dare not complain...

It is well with ya soul oh cheesy..... better just lie on your* spot and catch a light snooze!!!!!!!

You have to apply patience oh. Babies dont easily accept formulas no matter the brand, especially when they can differentiate the sweetness of breastmilk to formula. It can take a month or more for some babies to fully accept it, so just keep trying. Persistence is the key here. Well done!

When can I start braiding my daughter's hair?
No be real braiding ooo, just all dose puff puff tying of the hair. My baby is almost 3months and 3weeks .

It depends on how full the hair is. i started at 3 months cos my DD hair was too full and thick, she cries when i comb it. So i make the puff puff at night when she's asleep. Make sure the puff is very loose and dont use those colourful rubber, use the small colourful elastic ribbon, i think is sold for 150 naira a pack.

The only drug i would recommend you have at home is Paracetamol.

You can have actifed, Cough syrup but they should be prescribed by a doctor before use.

Paracetamol (either Calpol (Ibuprofen) or Infant Tylenol (Acetaminophen) or a good brand), bandages, Methyl spirit 70%, plaster, Neosporin, maybe a multivitamin. But the most important thing I'll tell you is: ASK YOUR PAEDIATRICIAN. Because I (and other mamas) don't know what challenges your baby may have medically. Those I listed are the basics, but before you dish out any drug, please ask your doctor. Not a pharmacist (because my pharmacist sister won't answer me unless the Doctor siblings have given an answer), but your own doctor. Who knows and treats your child.

I don't have a cabinet of drugs. I know someone who (because her husband had access to drugs) ended up in the hospital all in the name of popping meds that she didn't fully understand. what I'd get is a first aid kit, because I know kids hurt themselves by falling and playing, not drugs (that an inquisitive toddler will swallow as play and you end up crying in the hospital). That's just my opinion, I'm sure everyone feels differently.

Just to add to what miraclemum and lovinam have said, I think timing is key. Give her the bottle when she's really hungry.

Start with a little quantity (10ml or 20ml) and if she finishes it, then breastfeed till she's full. Continue with this method by increasing the quantity of milk until she's drinking solely formula for a meal.

Using this method ensures you do not prepare too much milk that you eventually end up throwing away because she has refused to drink it.

If all the various suggestions fail, then maybe you need to try another formula brand. Maybe she might prefer another.

Regarding water, you can add very little Ribena to it if you are a fan of Ribena like me.

That said, have you fed her from a bottle before she clocked 4 months? If not, you have your work cut out as your child might take a while to get used to the teat since she's been used to a nip-ple, so you have to keep trying.

I doubt she will get Tylenol here in nigeria but Emcap infant paracetamol is another option readily available or any other brand
Thermometer
I will also recommend Saline nasal drops/spray for catarrh/blocked nose.
Methelotum or silver bird eucalyptus oil for cold too

As long as your baby is being breastfed or formular fed, I don't think there's any need for multivitamins except she isn't eating well or loosing weight. By and large, ur paediatrician should be the one to recommend multivitamins.

Good one. See what I said about every child being different? I don't have saline drops because we've never had a cold or cough (thank God). I'd go with Eucalyptus oil because mehnn, Metholatum is even strong for me self.

I think because drugs are so easy to get in Nigeria without prescription, they get abused easily. Because one doctor prescribes even Funbact A for one child's skin, everyone will be rubbing it even though they don't know why.

Morning to all. My 10mnths lo cries and strains a lot whenever he wants to poop (though he poops in 3 days interval b4 now). First we thought it was because of the cereal he was taking, so we change it to cook pap(ogi) and peak milk step 1 but no changes yet. He is still been breastfed. His Mum and I are very worried and concerned now.

@ edrys, it can't be COLIC cos he's past that stage. Ur wife can take lots of fruits and veggies since she's still breastfeeding, maybe that will also help soften the baby's bowel for easy movement. Or u c a paed to ascertain what's the cause since u've changed his food. All the best!

My son once had that, so I discovered he hasn't bin taking enough water when at his crèche so I told them to help me give him water well. It stopped after that. Your wife can also take more fruits and also give ur baby few fruits too like watermelon and pureed boiled apple. Hope it helps...

Is there infant peak milk? I doubt. You should stil be on infant milk till age 1
That might be the culprit
