Carlo winning the CL at first attempt ridicules your theory of Jose leaving teams behind in a mess. You can't have it both ways. And regards not actually winning the CL, i'd say he really improved them.I remember he met a madrid team that couldn't go past the round of 16 for 6 consecutive years ( suffering humiliations like losing 4-0 to liverpool) but he vastly improved their fortunes in Europe and they reached the semi-finals of every CL during his time there but this was a failure to Perez who exactly isn't the most reasonable person. Winning the German league title even 3 consecutive times but not being able to go past the CL semis with a team that won the treble the previous year and made 3 CL finals in 4 years is not good enough. We can at best say he had a good time at Bayern, but not a great time especially relative to years of success already being enjoyed by a great club. Success is relative.
