Hmmmm! Did u request after labour had started? Bcz o knw for a fact that at that point it bcms an emergency. Dy even tell u dat d epidural cant be injected aftr a few houra into labour bcz of ts effects on d baby.

Anywys your reply gives her hope. I truly hope it works.

Have you used oakbend before?

Epidural is discounted to $850 for VB irrespective of when it was administered and $950 for CS.

Yes, I requested after labour started.

If she calls their office directly, they will quote the undiscounted price.

Yolanda is the one in charge at Oakbend that effects the discount.

Pls house I need suggestions urgently, I used Oakbend and had my son 2 weeks ago. Problem is epidural wasn't in my birthplan but caved in when I couldn't stand the pain. Problem now is after many attempts to reach the anestelogists they are now saying my bill is over 6k. A beg how do I go abt it cos I have settled all other bills and already have zero balance
Dr 2400 pls lab
Oakbend 2300
Scan 150
NICS 335
Lab 140
Altogether I never even spend the 6k the epidural people are calling.
Abeg gurus how do I sort this out.

Call their billing office, the no is on the invoice you got or google greater Houston anaesthologist for their no, tell them you are self pay....its now $900.

They will collect the payment over the phone

You usually have a month after delivery to still qualify for self pay

Don't panic, for my second child, I paid at the hospital and still got the $5,600 bill in the mail, had to call to regularize.

My first child, I paid $850 over the phone about 4 weeks later after I got the almost $6k Bill

@theleakytribe, your info is not correct ! I requested for it while at the hospital without pre-booking and paid $850 only when i returned to naija and that was like 2 months after.

@mymy2015, i understand! same thing happened when i called their office directly. they will always give outrageous prices. Call Yolanda 7134584354. Give her your name and the date you gave birth and tell her you want to pay for epidural. She will collect $850 and send you zero balance

Okay dear, I truly hope you're right for her sake. Maybe it's different with different anesthesiologists but the group I used (Pinnacle) have two rules. 1. Pay ahead for self pay discount and 2) the prepayment must be with respect to type of delivery, so if you even prepay for natural delivery and end up having ano emergency c.s they'll hit you up with additional fees.

Once you contact them before delivery they tell you, and even your hospital may prefer warn you.

But hey, I truly hope I'm wrong.

So sorry darling but the minute you requested epidural into labour, ur request became emergency o. And dts d reason d bill went so high.

Usually epidural shld be prepaid to qualify for seld pay discount.

Just go to billing/accounts and see if you can get into a negotiation. Or ask of your doctor can intervene to request a deduction for you.

Fingers crossed.

Not true for oakbend

I think you should let them know that you are a self paying patient, and you are not covered by insurance. Call or visit their office ask to speak with a supervisor. My initial Epidural bill was $15k but after speaking with them over the phone it was reverted to $1600. Which is the normal price for the prepaid service.

I think we should always give first hand advise/information ! Let those that used Oakbend respond and bail her out.

I'm happy favoredgal can attest to how it works!

Different hospitals with different policies.

Advising her based on yours might be disastrous.

I'm so grateful you all can help me, feeling blessed honestly. I have decided to use Dr. E of Oakbend. I will live anytime from 25th to 28th of Feb and return 7 weeks after --- by 25th of April.
Does Dr E accept direct bank transfer? Must I have a dom account to be able to do form A? I only have dom account with Zenith and UBA , i dont know if these banks do form A and at what rate
God bless you @Happytbaby

You don't need a dorm act to do form A, and it's usually given at floor rate say 199.5.

So I was in the queue when a security guy sited my daughter and asked if we were together, I answered yes so he brought me out of the queue to behind someone that was been interviewed. My transcript below

VO: what do you do ( while flipping through the documents I passed )
What do you do?
Me: I am a xxxx
VO: where

VO: what does your husband do?
Me : I answered
VO: what does he do there?( pointing to his statement of account that this belongs to your husband ) as he is the sponsor
Me: yes by answering the above question too.
VO: your visa has been approved, make sure you keep all your receipts and all the documents you showed me as you will need them at the point of entry.
Me: alright thank you with a bright smile n grabbed my daughter let's go.
That was all, it is the Lord's doing and the people of nairaland that posted on the forum not to hide anything. Thank you all. Bigfido and Vcole that responded to my question on change of DS 160 form I say a big thank you!

@Emeriem, the woman gave you genuine fares. 205 is for Ethiad while 185 is for delta but I'm not sure she can still get you that delta at that price as at today. I would have given you the Ethiad at 200K but obviously you don't need my help.

If you can reach the woman and can prove she's a honest person i'd say go ahead and transact with her. To be on the safe side, pay into a company account. All the best.

6k is the undiscounted price and the people you called will tell you that's what you're paying. Call again and tell them you're only required to pay $850 which is the discounted price for epidural, they'll take your payment over the phone and send you a receipt + zero balance

Just called her now, said her name is Ojuolape. she sounded very convincing and also said she works from home too, said she can also be visited in her Egbeda house.

My advice is investigate properly before sending any money to her. Send peeps to her house, ask if she truly stay there and her person in general.

I also gave her my date to check(u never can tell...make dis awoof no purge belle)

All the best.

@omodadi please how well do u know this lady?

@intending America mamas wink

Remember this when you are buying a promo ticket from any airline. Promo ticket are usually rigid, you cant make any changes without paying through your nose and am not sure they are refundable. Get it when you are absolutely sure of your dates of travel.

Please be guided!

Hmmm! Dear all, be guided with this "cheap ticket" thingy o....

Since you are in Lagos. reach the airline directly

Most of those tickets are non-refundable, non-amendable with so much conditions attached !

Remember child birth is not cast a stone! You might need to make changes at some point.

Also, you have an infant to add! Be guided o so you don't end up as penny wise, pound foolish.

PS : Not saying you should buy from the woman as I don't know her from anywhere but for REAL AND CONFIRMED, Delta do have 210- 220K tickets on sale now. You doubt me? I'll have someone book a seat, give you the ticket reference to call delta and confirm it. They just did not give you their cheapest fares or its not available for your travel dates.

Co-sign this post. Always know the status of your ticket before buying oo especially in regards changes as child birth is not predictable.

@Emeriem,I would advice you get your ticket directly from airlines, don't trust these so called agents.if you must use agents, use wakanow but dealing directly with airlines is better.monitor their fares on their websites because adding infant ticket is easier when you buy directly from the airline.things are difficult now and you can't afford to fall prey to some these scammers.

Hi Emeriem. I honestly think you should leave any time from now till just before you are 36 weeks. Remember you need to place the well being of your baby first. 37 weeks is too far gone. yes, nothing would happen to you but its just wisdom to go earlier. So many of us have advised you to leave your toddler. it will be difficult taking her along when you have no one coming as well. she cannot go with you to the hospital for labour/delivery. so who would she be with for that time?
However you are her mom so you know better than I do in this regard.
I would advise you go to El Paso. If only for the Nigerian community that you "may" find there if there are people due around your date. Also you'll find vbac friendly doctors there if you are bent on that. although i believe vbac is more expensive than a c-section and since you are on a budget that may not be the cheaper option. However a vbac in el paso "may" be about the same price with a houston c/s. Oakbend moms will know better.
I also would not advise you to buy a flight ticket with your already limited funds from someone you do not know. wakanow may just be better if they give you rates cheaper than the airlines directly.
Delta is your best bet as they allow travel up to 36 weeks for a singleton pregnancy. 36 weeks means you are not 36weeks + 1 day oh. its from 35 weeks = 1 up to 36 weeks.
lady G got PTA from unity bank HQ

Hello house, i have been following for sometime now but never participated in anything.
I renewed my visa through a dropbox late last year. I'm getting ready for my journey and seriously need some advice.

I'm 34 weeks gone, intend to travel by February 28/29th. My EDD is March ending.
My problem is that i'm on a very low budget . My Hubby is currently unemployed so i'm on this alone. I intend traveling with my 4 year old daughter and all i have at hand now is 2.5m. I will deliver via CS or VBAC(if possible)
1.I need advice on how to get a cheaper ticket for both of us by tomorrow.
2.The cheapest doctor i can get in Houston.
3.Cheapest accommodation i can get in Houston.
4.Can i get someone to share accommodation with me?
5.If i open account with IBTC tomorrow, will it be possible to get PTA from them before i leave?
6.I dont want to stay too long after birth since i dont have the fund. How many weeks should i give after delivery?
7. What airline can i use at 36/37 weeks?

I need your help my dear people, i'm so exhausted right now, i have been working day and night to raise cash.
