The Trojan and US Batteries L16 are 410 AH and 6 V. There are 2V higher AH batteries out there.
The panels. Even though they are sold as 12 or 24 volts, they produce more. You can connect your panels in series to get the desired voltage.
I will give you a link to help you. If I do the calculation for you, you did not learn anything. http://www.batterysizingcalculator.com/
Good luck. You are getting the concept. Keep asking questions. You will get ahead that way. Also watch Youtube videos on off grid living.

pls stop talking trash what you don't know you don't know, I have done series of projects with trojan besides its our company sir. So talk what you know, I have done so many . Where are you and I ill take you to places where I have used it and its has been working for over 5year now, so what are you saying? I am not fond of series posting here doesn't mean I am a fresher sir, so mind you to say eva is bad for flooded batteries. How do you test distilled water? How do you know any test on water analysis? Do you think I will come here to post trash or drag space. Besides I am not even free for some projects sir. Mind you when you quote what you don't know. So review and come back sir. Do you know how to revive a dead battery? Conditions of revival? Mind you sir. I have deposited. Listen and learn sir! Good luck ask of optimixim at solarshop when next you get there. No be moi moi

The words in bold typeface are offensive. I see no reason for such. If that's how you feel, there are other ways to carry your opinion across without being rude. That's by the way.

I have had access to an analytical lab for years where testing the quality of reagents, solutions, solvents and material was (is still) being conducted. All table water thus far tested contain significant quantities of potassium. Most contain significant quantities of calcium and magnesium. Lots of impurities are to be found in others too. While pottasium in trace quantities is pretty harmless, calcium nor magnesium is. Just saying.

I use distillers and deionizers. Distillation is quite expensive and there is no way Coca-Cola would be able to make Eva water commercially available at that price even if all they did was distil and bottle it, much less label and market. And distilled water tastes .... funny. No one would drink pure distilled water. I am not speculating nor making conjectures. If in doubt, bring any sample of water you so wish and I'll analyse it free of charge for you. All you need do is stand by and watch. And I would produce not only distilled water for you, I would give you any reagent grade type of water you wish.

Having said that, Eva water does indeed contain pretty low quantities of ions compared to most but enough to make it unsuitable for many things. If it works for batteries, fine. I would still not recommend it. For the record, I have used nothing apart from distilled water for batteries. If you can come up with proof of your claims, I believe the entire house would whole-heartedly follow your trends, I inclusive, for Eva water is not only cheaper but readily available. After all, we are here to learn.

chris81964:

Dangerous assumption. Bacteria and dust exist in the water coming from your AC. I have used it in a pinch. I have seen sediment and stuff in the collected water

I wholly agree with you. Water from the A/C unit is the closest you'll get to distillate as it is actually condensate too (final processing of distilled water before collection). The tubing and hose leading the water outside are often the culprit (if not the collecting container). Occassionally, you might find the cooling coils are to be faulted.

Hi All. I have this device i designed for battery monitoring. Its called Automatic Low Battery Alarm System. It can be used to monitor battery banks remotely via your mobile phone. It is ideal for situation where you need to get alert when your battery bank is getting low and you need to recharge the batteries. It can send out sms message at a preset low bat value. E.g You want it to send alarm at 11v for a 12v system , or ....... or 176v for a 192v system.(ANY POSSIBLE VALUE AS REQUIRED BY CLIENT IS PRESET) . It will also send battery full sms alert at a preset battery full condition.

As an option, it can also send rf signal to its paired RX Unit over a distance of about 200meters. E.g from main office building where you have your inverter to the generator house/security house/utility office for prompt alert.

THE MODULE
1) TX Unit (for monitoring battery and sending SMS and RF signal)
Consist of gsm module, rf module, lcd display, calibration knob, inbuilt device battery and circuits
2) RX Unit (for receiving signal condition low battery/battery full)
Consist of led display, alarm buzzer, inbuilt battery

APPLICATION
Anywhere power outage is critical (e.g server room)

@ Schneid,
Can the alarm buzzer be replaced with a relay/contactor?
i'd be very interested in your device if it can drive a relay in addition to alarm annunciation.

Hello boss. Yes, it can be configured to suit your purpose. Just a little bit of adjustment to the circuit. It can also be wired directly from the tx unit if the distance is not much thus eliminating the use of the RX unit. Your requirement would determine what adjustment is to made.

bodejohn:

I think you should be able to use it without it being fully charged, however there are some watchouts....
DO not use it if the voltage is less than 12.2V, this is to ensure the DOD of the battery does go below 30 - 40%.
if you can wait for it to fully charge up, i advise you do.

@ all, i am reading up on how DOD of batteries ensure a longer use life, will hit the forum when i have sufficient links and information.

Hello house . pls who knows the default password on 80 amp provolt charge controller? also wouldnt mind if someone has the manual for download. thanks
Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by Optimixim(m): 6:51am On Feb 15, 2016
Try 1234 or 0000, the provolts 80amps mppt is not as good as rugged as its 60amps and 45amps counterparts, so what's the problem with your gadget that you are demanding password ? But the manual is not online u can walk into solar shop at plot 273A kofoabayomi for clarification, they are the owners of the brand.

Guys help me, charlatans everywhere, how can you claim that these batteries are deep cycle. Hmmm. God help us. To think he kept arguing. Hmmm

Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by RipVanWink: 8:56pm On Feb 22, 2016
@teamman, i doubt its a deep cycle batt, nothing is written on it to even suggest such, heavy duty doesnt imply deep cycle,
2ndly the terminal is round like automotive/car batt............deep cycle batts dont hv that type of terminal

that na trailer battery now. Heavy duty yes but not a deep cycle battery. Same standard with cat battery. Although the battery battery is rugged but expensive. Almost the same price with deep cycle.

NEED TO upgrade from my 2 x 200ah 12v baat 1.5kva luminous system to a 4 batt, 24/48v 3.5ka minimum system.
my ist choice is prag 4kva 24v inverter, while 2nd choice is luminous 3.5kva inverter............

am kinda tired of the deep cycle batts, as i have such on my 2 systems, villa and home...and they are showing signs of failure already...this is abt 3yrs of moderate use, am seriously leaning towards the flooded batts, especially the trojan range.

my questions are
1. can either of the inverters charge and equalize the trojan range of batts?
2. am a lil worried about the issue of gassing [since its going to be an indoor installation ---though in an airy passage in the house], and the issue of topping up with distilled water....how often do i need to top up?....and is the gassing/production of hydrogen excessive?....also what of smells/odour......is it something i can endure indoors..

2NDLY , Is there any diff btw the green and blue prag?
am thinking the green one is the first generation, does any1 know if it has any issues/why it was phased out?
from my lil research only major difference i saw was max charging current being 90amps for the green one and 120amps for the blue one

Research ran into a snag. Seems the Tesla PowerWall isn't going to be valid for RE applications after all. Too tightly constrained in charging and discharging parameters. What a shame.

Hi there oga.
Quick one, please do you have a local (Nigerian / lagos) source for one of those programmable timer sockets you mentioned? Need one pls.

Thanks.

earthrealm:

140w x 24hrs = 3kw approx.
for the 50% rule u need a batt bank of 6kwh min is required wch u can achieve by 3 to 4 units of 12v 200ah batt bank
for the panels, to harvest something meaningful...assume only 5hrs of sunlight, and u need minimum of 3kwh harvest, thus u need 3 units of 200w panels, or 250watss panel.....the more the better.

if the estimate is much..you can buy a programmeable timer socket for the freezer, that way u can programme it to run for only 8 to 14hrs or whatever you want...that wud reduce ur load and other related components...........a 30/45 amp mppt charge controller would be suitable

note: this is a rough calculation n shud serve as a guide...other peeps r free to correct/amend
