There is nothing wrong with frying akara but as a graduate she should have done it with class. It does not have to be exactly like our mothers, she should have put some ingenuity into it. Like organized chairs and tables, more decent place or make her little space more attractive. There is so many things she could have done differently and still fry akara with class. That is what education is all about, not just to be employed.

Thank you Op for bringing this here, I ve known the lady for a long time. She has actually been doing this business for over a year since she graduated from Unibuja. I have been inspired by what she does, it takes a whole lot of courage and focus to become an entrepreneur. It's either this or take a 50k job in Abuja that will slave you, but with her business, she gets off by 11am and has the rest of the day to do any other thing with her time.
I pray to one day be like her..

Your a graduate dosent make you special..prove it by applying sophistication to the basic everyday things.
80% of d so called graduates no sabi anything. Because d skool didnt really teach us anything.

But she tried if the story is true...but make she add swag abeg

For a beginner she tried, she's using a plastic table & chair instead of the wooden table & bench, cooking gas not firewood and her surrounding is clean and neat.
So what else do you want to see? A shop?

Foils for the takeaway..better arrangement of the surroundings.
A small showcase..just the normal basics. O.p couldnt even notice she wasnt a regular market woman.
these dont cost much but it improves value and attracts customers..

For some one starting up a business, what do you need fancy things for, graduate or no graduate.

passion for cooking and this akara can be
enhanced and lots of ideas out in to make it

What's the difference between the pizza we
scramble for and this akara?
If she was making pizza, cake or shawarma
would u call her a waste?
This is an example of someone living a life of
purpose and in few years I bet you she will
employ the same graduates in the same business
of making bean balls.
By then lots of people will start going into akara
business
The whites may even come to learn it from her!

Hard times call for flexibility. She did not go to University just to fry akara, something she may have been doing before taking JAMB. Some take to streets.
It is like male grads driven keke napep. They may not be happy doing it but they have to face reality. As soon as they get something better they give it up. Those are well brought up ones. The others become armed robbers or prostitutes. The gal is well brought up.

Our leaders should help us please.

I knew of a guy who is even a lawyer who lost his job with a law firm and due to the fact that he did a catering course from a catering school as part time, while still in school, the idea came to him that he should start up with akara business as he observed during his school days that students love buying indomie prepared by these mallams and also buy akara, he went into it.

From there, he got married, bought a care and went into full hotel business.

He later went into Real Estate business and his hotels now are well known.
