John,

Am thrilled with your wealth creation styles. You made me belive there re still some youth who are creative and hardworking instead of blaming the government for their failures. As you have started your story will change before the end of this year. You re inspiring many youth who has no hope. If the person who lend you the money read this post am sure he would be proud of you. If we have 20% of our youth who has such mindset Nigeria problems will be solved. All those who is contributing to your success will never go down. Their pockets shall never filter. If leadership position is committed to someone like you; you will perform beyond expecation. Keep it up hardwork pays. The Lord shall see you through. Congratulations

Buhari's NEPA has gone from bad to worse o! No light. No dollar. Lol. Had to charge my phone at my neighbour's shop with generator power this morning.

Here's the breakdown of my second business (the village container for cds, electricals and phone accessories).

Container 45,000
Transport 4,000
Cement (2 bags) 2,700
Transport of cement 850
Flooring 6,000
Refreshment of labourers 900
Padlock 350
Amplifier 3,500
CDs 4,960
Electricals 8,590
Phone accessories 10,230

That's N87,080 for now. I'll still spend about N25,000 on roofing, a platform for displaying my goods and on wiring. I wasn't planning on investing more than N50,000 on this village business. But like play like play, it's already reaching the N100,000 mark. Lol. Thank God I kidnapped an old tv and speakers from our house. Otherwise, I might have had zero naira left in my account by now. Lol.

One man told me that I shouldn't look down on the village business. He said I shouldn't be surprised if it brings in more profit than the Agbani business. I can't wait to be surprised o! Lol.

I asked for a surprise and I just got an unpleasant one. Lol.

While I was uploading my previous post, a man from the Enugu State Ministry of Commerce and Industry walked up to my shop and served me this demand notice (see the paper in the picture).

He had come with another man about two weeks ago. That time they said I'll pay N4,000 for registration instead of only N2,000 for renewal. This time around, this man has written N7,000 and disappeared before I could even protest or question him. Nawa o! Lol.

It's not funny though. I had to meet my landlord to put me through.

Landlord: Call Friday (Friday's the former owner of my container), ask for his business premises receipt and continue the payment from where he stopped.

Me: Ok. Thank you sir.

I really hope I don't pay more than N2,000 for this business premises thing. The next people to show up will be the Enugu State Waste Management Authority. Oh no!

Meanwhile, my business neighbour just told me that the landlord's suggestion won't work.

Me: Why na?

Him: Friday was doing a different business (phone accessories and repairs) and they have an association. When these people come, they meet as an association and contribute N200 each.

Me: Chai! What do I do now?

Him: Don't worry! I'll talk to somebody into this your kind of business so that you can join their own association.

Me: Thanks bro.

Him: How you go pay them 7thousand? Them dey craze?

Association of Clothes Sellers, here I come. Lol.

Here's what I've invested in my agricultural business so far.

Hoe 1,500
Ugu pod 300
Ugu seeds 50
Ewa seeds 50
Sharpening of cutlass 50
Straw hat 150
More ugu seeds 100
More ewa seeds 100
Cucumber seeds 100
Green seeds 100

That's N2,500 right? Lol. If we could calculate the cost of my own manpower (I mean labour not the energy concoction or aphrodisiac o! Lol) used in farming, I should be paying myself about N5,000. Lol.

In future (a year from now by God's grace), I hope to be involved in animal husbandry (goats, pigs, ducks and guinea pigs).

My love for agriculture goes back my primary school days when I used to dig out earthworms just to watch them crawl back into the soil. Lol. Or plant beans, flowers and aloe vera in tin containers. Lol. Even as a senior art student at King's College Lagos, I chose Agricultural Science as my vocational subject instead of the Commerce or Food and Nutrition that we Art students were known to choose. Lol.

Some of you might be surprised to learn that I'm a King's College old boy. I be omo Eko o! Lol. Grew up at Aguda in Surulere then moved to Onitsha only few years ago before finally moving here to my village.

Now, you'll also understand why my parents and siblings are not happy that I've decided to become a village champion. Lol.

"Papilo, I know sey one day you go make us proud"

I know I'm not Kanu Nwankwo. Lol. But I must make myself, my family and all of you proud.

Can somebody shout alleluyah? Lol.

Your posts are inspiring igbo men here in the US. I am graduating with an MD this year in miami but i long to go back to my fathers land and be involved with the economy. God will bless your work and i hope in the near future i can do business with men like you. Keep your eyes peeled for long term rewarding businesses and do not be surprised when ppl will want to invest in you. Finally, i read somewhere recently that when you ask for money you will receive advice but when ask for advice you will receive money. Keep writing brother John

John,

If the person who lend you the money read this post am sure he would be proud of you.

You're right. He loves me like a brother and is very proud of me. He hasn't read this my Nairaland post yet but he follows my progress via my Facebook pictures and posts. I call him from time to time too. I was even his best man at his wedding last December. That shows you how close we are.

I've grown to see wisdom in the Igbo saying that "onye nwe mmadu kariri onye nwe ego" which means that "a person who has somebody is greater than a person who has money." It's true. Without my friend and his loan, I would've have still been walking the streets of Onitsha hawking and registering Airtel/Glo sim cards with my hopes and dreams beeping low battery, low battery, low battery. Lol.

God bless you my friend. I love you like David loved Jonathan. I don't mean David Mark and Goodluck Jonathan o! Lol.

If I don't talk about my other friend the future Minister of Business, this my story won't be complete. He's the one that inspired me to try the cd, electricals and phone accessories business. He left his two shops to personally show me where to buy the necessary goods at Onitsha. God bless you and flourish your business bro.

I've known him since SS2 in King's College Lagos. He used to sell pure water, sardine, spaghetti, singlets, boxers etc in dorm. He also used to lend boys money (God have mercy on you if you if you failed to pay him on time and with the agreed interest. Lol). He was also doing business with his camera. He'd snap pictures and then sell them to whoever paid for it. He was so legendary we started calling him "the Business prefect".

This reminds me of what Robert Kiyosaki wrote in his book Rich Dad Poor Dad. He noted that schools do not give students financial education (i.e. do not teach how to make money). They only teach them how to be employees and work for money. I agree with him. Nigerian schools need to consciously groom the future Dangotes, Adenugas, and Linda Ikejis from a young age. Why can't there be a position like business prefect in secondary schools for example?

Let me stop here before I begin to sound like Senator Ben Murray Bruce or worse still like one hungry Igbotic motivational speaker. Lol.

A breakdown of my stomach infrastructure and other miscellaneous expenses coming next. Lol.

Good morning everyone, see what my cousins caught in their trap AT MY BACKYARD this early morning. (Should I be scared or happy that these kind of wild animals are visiting MY BACKYARD? Lol) It's called "avu enu" in my dialect. I don't know if that's the general Igbo name talk more of knowing it's English name. Somebody please educate us if you know. Lol.

You're all invited to the feast. We'll probably wash it down with palm wine this evening. Forget about Ebola or Lassa fever jor. They don't exist here. My people eat squirrels, bush rats, monkeys, dogs, cats etc. I'm serious o! I've even eaten dog meat like twice here. The only animals I'm sure we don't eat are vultures, wall geckos, frogs and human beings. Lol.

And forget about being a vegetarian or animal activist in the village. E no dey possible. You either eat the animals or they eat you. Lol.

That's me during my morning farming session. I usually wake up as early as 5:30am or 6am to cook beans, boil drinking water and fetch water. . . . .

With the power stance in this picture you have here, one would think you were a professional model. It's not easy to pull off the "Farmer in a straw hat" pose and still look good. Even Olajumoke no pose reach you. lol. If you aren't already into modeling, I suggest you consider it too, and hope maybe some connected Nairalanders can help.

Jamela, you're funny. Lol. My immediate younger sister is the model of our family o! She's been modeling in Abuja since when she was still an undergraduate. This is a picture of her I used (for free and without her permission) for my business. (Damn! It feels so good to be a big brother. Lol) When she saw it on my Whatsapp, she begged me not to make her an Agbani local celebrity. So I'll probably use it only on my whatsapp and website. FOR NOW. Lol.

Isn't she looking so Naomi Campbell-ish and Agbani Darego-ish? If we're walking together on the road, you'd think she's my model girlfriend. Lol.

I haven't talked about my third business. Don't call me jack of all trades yet please. Lol. Let me explain.

There's no way you'll be in my village without doing agriculture one way or the other. When I was in Lagos, I'd actually been planning to dedicate N50,000 to starting goat-farming and combining it with palm oil, cassava and snail farming. But when I came to my village, I took part in harvesting cassava and processing it into garri and also harvesting palm fruit and processing it into palm oil. The stages for producing both are hectic. Lol. Even goats need stay-at-home attention. Lol. I started thinking of another agricultural option.

That's when I learnt about ugu farming while watching a programme on NTA Enugu one morning. The ugu farmers talked about how lucrative ugu is and even showed how to plant it. It grows and is ready for harvesting within two months.

Me: Wonderful!

So I went to Eke Agbani market to look for ugu seeds. I met one kind mama who promised to bring it for me on the next Eke market day. She sold the ugu pod to me N300 and told me not to break it open till I was ready to plant the seeds.

Me: Mama thank you.

I bought a hoe for N1,500, a straw hat N150 and some more ugu and ewa seeds N100.

I've planted some ugu seeds outside my house fence. Those ones are free-for-all to pick and cook. If I catch anyone inside my compound coming for the ugu or ewa or any other vegetable inside, what happened in 1944 will happen to the person. Lol.

Anyway, I've met the Eke Agbani mama and asked her for how to plant "green". She said I should come on Monday. That's tomorrow. She'll take me to the place where I'll buy it. I really like this mama. She's so kind.

Thanks Omoteamac for commenting. Good night dear silent readers. Lol. I'll continue my business story if you people are not yet tired of it. Lol.

What happened in 44?

MODIFIED (ON 12TH MARCH):

Everyone, please help me thank Uncle Nwa Orlu (that's what he said I should call him) for the N5,000 (five thousand naira) he transferred to me from the USA this morning. God bless you sir. May God enlarge you financially there in USA and at home here in Igboland. Amen!

With Uncle Ken's N10,000 plus Uncle Nwa Orlu's N5,000, I'll be roofing my village container very soon. My people have been asking me when I'll finally open it. Even my small cousin who'll be managing it for me has been restless and tired of waiting for me. Hmmm... So I go soon become person oga? Lol.

Let me take advantage this Up NEPA to do this breakdown now. Has anyone noticed that power supply has dropped drastically? My free beans has dropped drastically too. Lol. Had to buy one painter of brown beans today for N700.

Here we go:

NgeneFarms.com (domain + hosting) 4180
MyMainMarket.com (two years domain) 3,960
Electric cooker 1,800
Gallon 550
Rechargeable lamp 700
Tap head 500
OKPA 2,700
Bags of pure water 400
Beer 3,000
Transportation (Okada + Keke) 2,800
Recharge cards 3,500
Charity work 5,500
Shoes (for my bestmanship. Lol) 6,000
Wedding expenses (transport, feeding etc) 3,000
Beans (one painter) 700
Snacking and brunching 1,250
Miscellaneous 5,000

That's 45,540 right? I had to add some other expenses that I forgot to include in the previous breakdowns. E.g. NgeneFarms.com under agriculture. I've also used the big grammar "miscellaneous" to cover up some expenses and exigencies that I can never remember. Lol. These small spending here small spending there are definitely the hardest part of finances to keep track of.

So in grand total, that's:
Agbani business 151,580
+
Amurri business 87,080
+
Agriculture 2,500
+
Others 45,540
= N286,700

N300,000 - N286,700 = N13,300

Now, N13,300 + N10,000 (thanks to Uncle Ken) + N5,000 (thanks to Uncle Nwa Orlu) =N28,300 (MODIFIED 12TH MARCH after Uncle Krucifax informed me that he's not the one who sent me the N5,000)

Oh my God! From N300,000 to N28,300. Business no easy o! Lol.
