I'm a U.S Citizen residing in U.S, I wish to invite my mother for a visit but my problem is that her international passport's date and place of birth is not correspond with the one I used for her when I was filling my visa application before leaving Nigeria for U.S. It's my Elder Brother that's residing in South Africa that did the international passport for her then without informing me, she travelled to South Africa with the passport once. Sir, hope this information difference won't affect her chance of getting U.S visa, kindly put me through please. God Bless You.

First of all, let's tone it down. Our Department of Homeland Security colleagues don't "harass" visitors.

If you travel to a destination that was not discussed during your visa interview, that may raise some flags at the border. You may want to check with Customs and Border Protection to see what you are allowed to transport into our country.

I applied then has my husband was then my live in partner but we are married now...the issue hs when my hubby applied then from England when he was still married to his ex wife buh they were in the midst of divorce when he gave his support document to me.the case worker then ask about the wife and i told her they were in the midst of divorce and even showed her the letter from court but she refused us.....months after the divorce was finally granted nd marriage dissolved so my husband email the Us embassy about t and they replied him that we should reaaply nd adress that to the case worker.....Now we have another child and legally married what are our chances of gettting the visa since they wont allow my husband in with us cause he has a british passport

I am asking this on behalf of a colleague. He applied for a business visa B1 for a conference in New Jersey and indicated during the interview he will be going to NJ and back only, likewise he filled he is to go with a specific airline on his form (Those were the plan then).

He got a B1/B2 visa and will be going for the conference as scheduled. However, he now intend to spend a bit more time(he got his annual leave approved after the interview) than indicated on the form for tourism purpose, he intended getting to Washington DC and Texas or so, for another 2-3 weeks weeks after the training after which he is coming back to Nigeria. His travel itinerary and return ticket will reflect the dates and all.

The question is that he is worried if this will not be a problem for him at the POE as he did not indicate the tourism bit during his interview. Also, will it be an issue if he flies in with a different airline to the one on his DS 160 form, and landed at a different airport? His itinerary is heading to the conference first but via a different route than was on the form.

This is not a misrepresentation as the idea of spending a bit more time only came to him after getting the visa and also had his leave approved.

What should he do, did he need to inform the embassy here of the extra 2 weeks he intend to spend now as he indicated only 1 week for the training during the interview? Please advise,he is so scared of running foul of US laws in any form and do not want to jeopardize his chances of being able to go to United States now or at any other time in the future.

Hello Buccattee,

You could apply for either. F-2 status would allow you to stay for longer but there is less paperwork involved for B1/B2 if your only plan is to visit.

My husband and I own a company here in Nigeria and we represent two American companies in Nigeria. I was traveling to the United States in February 2014 to have a baby and also conduct business on b1/b2 visa. The CBP official said that i was unable to rebut the presumption that i was an intending immigrant that I did not demonstrate that I had the financial means to cover my expenses in the United States. I was charged under section 212(a)7(a)(i)(i), immigrant without documents. Visa was cancelled and i was deported and barred from entering the United States for 5 years. The Case was reported to Department of Homeland Security DHS Redress. I got a reply in August 2015 from a Director Admissibility and Passenger Programs (Office of Field Operations) that I should file form i 212 form at the embassy when requesting for visa.

My question is this
1. I am applying with my husband and children as a family. Will my application (decision) affect their application? My husband and one child (age 5) are renewing their visa, while two children (age 2 & 1) are first time applicants.
2. Will the visa officer automatically collect the form i 212 from me or i will have to make a case for him/her to collect it?
3. What is the average time to process the form i 212?
4. Will my passport be released back to me while the form i 212 is being processed just incase i have to travel for other business endeavors? Will my spouse and children passport be held back as well since we are all appplying together?
5. Any recommendations about submitting the form i 212 that may help my case.
